Hey all!  Feel like I've been out of touch forever.  A lot of great work presented so far. Rick-love the 162 and the P-47 is giving Tom a run for the "Fringe Award"  Tom-the Anteater looks great and I think you might have the "Fringe Award" wrapped up at this point.  Karl-the Panther is awesom!  Hope mine turns out half that nice.  Darren-the 190 looks great.  And Solid-love your work.  I was never able to make anything out of wood other than sawdust. edit-Sign - Oops [#oops] Solid's work was over in the Battle of the Atlantic GB. Sorry, but they all seem to run together after awhile.....

The Me-262 is done..and has been for a while.  Lost my blue backdrop to a Science Fair project and it took me a while to make a new backdrop.  Had a lot of "learning & growing opportunities" with this one-questionable fit (my fault), peeling paint (again, mine) along with a little decal silvering.  The pictures I'm presenting 'hide' the repair of the paint problems.  One of these days, I might do a little sand and touch-up with the airbrush, but I just wanted to finish this one.  Hope the pictures look better than they do at Photobucket-don't know if I'm having bandwidth issues (on a phone line here at home) but the pics are better on my hard drive that they show at Photobucket:

All suggestions for improving future projects are welcome.

Worked a little on the Panther today-ready for the primer tomorrow (hopefully)

Bob

Thanks Karl.

Looking forward to progress picks on yours.  Sorry to hear about the problems with the Airwaves AM set.  I have the kit & the Aires detail set, but haven't started either yet.  Hopefully less problems, but with Aires you never know until you start.

Regards,  Rick

Rick, great job on the Komet.

The camo looks excellent.

Jay, looks like the twins are making good headway.

But why do you have to wait for a whirlibird before you can paint?Wink [;)]

Tom, the anteater is looking stunning, weird, but stunning.

Progress Update

The cockpit and wheel bays have all been painted, and will get a coat of Future in about 5 minutes, followed by a wash.

The Airwaves bulkhead and ejector seat don't fit worth a damn, so I've taken to shaving chunks off the rear and base of the rocket seat, as currently it collides with the control stick!!!!!

The Airwaves wheels are absolute Censored [censored] as well, requiring removal of a pretty horrible mold seam, something that I have never had to do with TD wheels.

Hopefully the fuselage will be closed up this week.

Karl

Currently on the bench: AZ Models 1/72 Mig 17PF

Tom I was just perusing the latest FSM mag and thught of you.  I was wondering, since you are going to be re-doing your model room, what did you thinkof Keith Hudson's awesome shop!  WOW! My wife threatened to rip out those pages so I would stop drooling and getting the couch all gross!  Ha ha!

Anyway here are some progress pics

The build on the left is for the Langnanse GB (Red 1 of JV44) and the one on the right is for this GB, Michalski's Fw190-D9 of Jg4  You can see I still need to do the mottling, it's a bit cold right now, hopefully this weekend.  With it being winter here and I airbrush in the garage, I have to wait for a chinook.  Luckily at this time of year they happen quite often (one day a week or so).

hey jay didya see my reason why i asked that? pg 99 (end)

unfortunately, due to the imminent starting of Project Humongous Mark II (aircraft edition), I might not start on this build for a while yet. Furthermore, I am still working on Project Humongous Mark I (AFV edition).

For anyone interested, Project Humongous is a 1/72 tamiya spitfire, aires cockpit, aires gunbay, aires engine, eduard PE, squadron vac canopy, true details wheels, AM decals, and a scratchbuilt section.

Total Cost: 30$ including paint. I love club bargains.

Rick - wierd I could have swore someone mentioned it being 1/72... either scale it still looks good!!!

Blackcat - this is a nice one, simple but easy to see the invasion points:

Thought my Canadian friends would like this one:

http://www.warchronicle.com/canadian_armoured/regimentals_wwii/canadianddaybw.jpg

no progress as of yet tonight, and probably none at all for the evening... I am wasted from work and think I am going to vegetate tonight... if I model I will probably mess something up!

Tom, Smokingun,  Thanks guys, appreciate the comments.

Tom, the Komet is actually the DML/Dragon 1/48 kit.  A little larger than the Academy 1/72 kit Smile [:)].

Rick - looks great!  I've really enjoyed the last few Academy 1/72 kits I have done.. decent detail at such a small size!!  I imagine that Komet is about the size of a finger!  The FW-190 wasn't much bigger!

Tom:  The Academy 1/72 Komet is a great kit with decent internal detail and pretty good fit.  As an added bonus it has the parts to build either the B or the S two seater trainer version (only two ever made, very high fringe factor Smile [:)]) and it even has the tractor used to tow them to and from the hanger. Thumbs Up [tup]

wow.. gone away for a day and BAM!!!  almost 2 pages of posts!!

Chris - cool, thanks!!!  reference for these things is hard to find!!!

Darren:  That is Alclad2 dull aluminum on the cowl of the Pfeil, I felt it represented best what I see inthe wartime photos of it... I painted the cowl flaps Alclad2 aluminum but went back over them with dark aluminum tonight, and after a thin enamel "MM Exhaust buffing metalizer" wash (acrylic would not stick no matter how much dish soap I put in) it looks spot on for the pic.  My research shows the cowl to be NMF, although I have seen several references to the contrary, one of the pages I listed earlier on has a close up with a GI posing underneath 112 and it is NMF.  Now, I forget the number but there was another Do335 at the field with a NMF nose and painted cowl, I can't remember the number though, it might have been one of the original prototypes as I think it was V-5 or V-9...

Jay - friiiinge baby, you know it!  haha no... for some reason this aircraft was so ugly it grabbed my attention right away.. (oops, that sounds like some of my Navy days out on the town Wink [;)]) I went to hobby Lobby about 5 times before I finally broke down and got it.. at $41.95 it seemed steep but after getting through 2/3 of the kit so far, worth EVERY penny!  This has gone together better than any kit I have built so far including the 2 Martlets.. (I mean Wildcats) I have done...  I am going to check out some AM for this thing and do another.. although I think AM is scarce...  And ultimately I think it was scarcity of reference, only two of these ever (halfway) completed and flown... okokokokok... it was Fringe..

Some of the references point to the fact that 112 might have been used a few times as a night fighter... as well as several of the 1 seater numbers... no proof but interesting all the same...

Rick - looks great!  I've really enjoyed the last few Academy 1/72 kits I have done.. decent detail at such a small size!!  I imagine that Komet is about the size of a finger!  The FW-190 wasn't much bigger!

I forgot about you Tom, beautiful looking anteater!  What made you go with the Dual seater over the single?  was it more variety of ac - hence fringe factor?  Man, if the Germans could have gotten that thing into service in 1944, it would have been a different story for the allied airmen.

Okay, I think I am confused.

wing_nut are you referring to my map location? Because it is far away from you, is that why you are not going to come knocking on my door looking for RLM 83? Too bad, you'd have a blast here, there are some amazing modelers here(besides I only have like 8 millilitres left).  We have several modeling clubs (two general modeling and one strictly armour! Not to mention all the other touristy things you can do here.

and Blackcat, I did see that you were 15, I guessed you were in your teens didn't I? When I said if you were into mapping I meant technical mapping, sorry if you took offense, I didn't intend any. I was under the impression that wing_nut (Marc) knew exactly the location of my coordinate information under snoopy. If you like maps blackcat, check out http://earth.google.com/ - pretty neat FREE software!

Really nice Rick, I like your komet.  It almost makes me want to build one... almost.  So what is this, a gas passer and a solid fuel feeder, are you going over to the other dark side on us? (the first dark side being targets, er armour).  I guess you wouldn't classifiy the Komet as a jet would you as it is technically a manned rocket.  But still, two non-propellers!Shock [:O] I liked the Mig-21 btw, my favouritest soviet jetskie.

wing_nut, if you can figure it out, kudos to you!Big Smile [:D] but if you're into mapping, and can't find it then shame shame!Disapprove [V]
