Darren - Actually if I get the P-47 for the P-47 and Latin American GB done soon I might have another trick up my sleeve... Wink [;)]  I'm not going to commit to it yet because this P-47 is slow going, I'm being a perfectionist on it as I am giving it to an 8th grade class and they will tear it to shreds if there is a visible flaw haha..

Guys, thanks for all the positive comments on the He 162.

Scott, the 162 makes an ideal OOB build. Fit is excellent, and there are no difficult areas at all.

Progress Update

Not a lot.

New head assembly for the 100 turned up last night so I'll be in a position to finish the 162 this weekend, what with it being a long weekend and all.

JB I've updated you on page 1 as complete, thanks for the reminder.  As for the Photobucket page, I found a while ago that it had zero hits on it so I hadn't bothered with any future updates, but if you want you build(s) on there I'll put them on tonight.

All, I was browsing through Hyperscale this morning when I came across this article about a very smart looking 190 Dora big tail that looks vaguely familiar to me, check it out at

"This is only build #10 of my return to modeling"  (from the review of the Dora)

Now doesn't this leave me feeling a bit inadequate after seeing that build again????  Disapprove [V]

But way to go Marc!  I had no idea this was only number 10!!  I'm about on #12 since my return, and still have to be careful not to leave cement fingerprints on the canopy still!  Laugh [(-D]

Nice one Marc.

I've just totted up my builds since returning to the hobby 3 years ago, and it's at least 18 builds, not all finished!

And I've only just stopped putting the wings on upside down!Wink [;)]

Tom, I thought the finger prints were an anti theft device!

Marc, I have a question for you. When I saw your stupendous Dora (The 1/24 one) I noticed the riveting was heavier and more pronounced on one wing than the other. Is there a reason for that? (I'm not nit picking or anything,m I hope, I'm just curious.Smile [:)])

Darren, I forgot that your photobucket thing is not being used.  What ever, it doesn't matter to me.  I was just perusing the front page and I didn't realized just how many are MIA.  It seems the usual suspects are the only ones completing builds...Evil [}:)]

Tanky, you have a judge’s eye.  When I was clear coating it got a little heavy in that area.  Mostly because I was being my usual last self and tried to cover a small problem, hoping a little heavy coat would make a small ridge-like blemish less noticeable.  It unfortunately made the rivet more shallow and it would not take the wash as dark as the other side.  This, I am sure, is one of the items that kept the model from placing at the contest.

There is a thread going on about the different judging styles here and overseas.  I can’t talk about what goes on overseas but someone makes a point about the lack of volunteers for judging.  The best thing I did was get some instructions and practice judging and this was my 1st year as a judge.  The fact that I did not win anything did not bother me at all since now that I see what happens... the other models were far and away better.  On the drive home I picked my model apart, as the judges did and there is plenty wrong that the camera does not show.  If you want to improve your modeling… judge a contest.  You will look at everything you do much differently.

The Panther is done....at least as far as I'm concerned.  It seems that armour can be taken to the nth degree, if one wants, with various levels of detailing & weathering.

Thanks all for the encouraging words, advice & information along the line.  As always, it's been fun hanging out with you guys.

Great looking Panther Bob!!! Your right about being able to take armor to a whole other level. I like the nice clean look of yours though. Looks like it means business!

Thanks for being part of the build.

Hey all,

Just a quick update - things are wrapping up nicely with my two PAKs (now I sound like a deceased rapper...Wink [;)]Mischief [:-,]

Here are a couple of pictures from a week or so ago when I took the extra 13 mm off the trail legs of the Dragon PAK.  Now they are the same lenght as the Tamiya (actually just a tad shorter), and to scale.  Can't add too much more now because the baby is crying so I have to go!!

This first one shows the legs with the section removed:

This shot shows the legs reconstructed, minus the extra length:

Great work on the trimming the trail legs btw, you would never know they had been snipped.

Chris how about a photo of the half track, I kind of like to see how it looks now after all the problems you had with it.

tornado, you are welcome to join us if you think you can finish one of your builds before the May 8th deadline and just to let you know that a persons modeling skill has nothing to do with join a build and having some fun.  By the way exactly which kit did you plan on doing?

If you look back a few pages in this post or do a search you will find lots of explanations of putting images in your signature file.

Karl it was worth the wait, great build Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup].  That one will certainly make a nice addition to your collection.

Cheers

Bob,

Really nice job on the Panther.  You are all to correct about the ability to really 'do it up' with armor models, but I really like the clean look you have going.  I particularly like how your camo scheme came out.

Kudos to you.Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]
