Thanks Dave.  Got the decals on yesterday, plan to do a light top-coat of Future over the decals & then finish her up.

Just about done with my Wildcat.  Been working on trying to get the decals on the fuselage sides to hunker down before I seal it all up.

Rick, Very nice progress. The wings IMHO looks similar to a P-47 thunderbolt

Thanks Sean.  The wings are similar to a T'bolt & the front end is similar to a P-40.

How is that coming, espins1?  I was curious if anything I suggested helped.

Hi Dave, I've re-applied the solva set a couple of times and the decals seem to be settling down a bit, but they're not nearly as good as yours turned out.  I'm assuming I just need to keep patiently applying the solvaset a bunch more times and hopefully they'll snug all the way down.

I would drown the decal in micro-sol.  Really slap it on to soak it, especially since it's been so long.  Then keep applying it every 5 min for about 30 min or so.  After it's good and wet, you can poke any airbubbles with a stick pin.  Hopefully you will notice some progress the next day as it soaks it in and settles down.  If you still have some areas that need work, repeat the process.  It will settle down.  Good Luck!

Finally managed some progress on my SBD-5.  PE is installed on the cockpit sides, interior green is shot and I'm detail painting.  The instrument panel, seat and cockpit flooring are next.  The detail on the AM kit is really good and the Eduard set is just that much better, but it is tedious going.  I'll probably have pics up in a couple of weeks when I get the interior squared away.

Here's my finished build.  Grand Phoenix 1/48 Fairey Firefly Mk I kit.  Model is the bird "Lucy Quipment" from 1771 Squadron, HMS Implacable, PTO 1945.  The 1771 Squadron joined the British Pacific Fleet in 1945 & carried out strikes on the Japanese mainland & shipping near the end of the war.

Comments or questions welcome.

Regards,  Rick

Very nice Rick, then again they always are.  Grand Phoenix?  Limited/short run, right?  Which do you prefer the limited runs to the mainstream?

Looks great Rick. As a person who really knows very little about all of the planes used, I have to tell you it has been great seeing a 'new' plane. Thanks for doing something unusual Smile [:)]

Joe, Leon,  Thanks guys, Appreciate your comments.

Joe, Grand Phoenix is an off-shoot of Eagle Strike/ Aeromaster.  Limited run kits are generally more challenging than the mainstream kits, but offer subjects the mainstreamers are unlikely to ever produce.

Just about finished with my Wildcat, I finally got the stars on the fuselage sides to cling fairly tightly to the rivets.... close enough for government work anyway.  Wink [;)]  I plan on applying the final clearcoat tonight or tomorrow.

It sure has been awhile since I said I would like to join this build.  Unfortunately I got tied up with a temporory job (four months) and a broken hip which really slowed me down.  Now that I am on the road to recovery I can resume modeling.  I have seen quit a few great builds in this thread and all of you rate a congratulations.  This here is the statr of my F4F:

Later there will be more to come.

Richard

Sweet pit RSaddlemire, nice detail.  Same for the engine.  What kit and scale are you building?  My 1/48 Tamiya F4F sure didn't have that kind of detail.  Congratz!
