Vinman, no sorry, what I meant by "regular" was non-armored. I went ahead and picked up the Arii 1/160 VF-1S Battroid at the LHS (the Macross factory kit). Thats the only robotech kits my LHS has. So when you get a chance go ahead and take out the SDF-1 and put in the VF-1S Battroid. Here is a pic of it dry-fitted together. I promise to fix the gaps/seams before it's done. Blush [:I]

Aurora-7 - Thanks for the link. Lots of good camo scheme ideas.

Arii kits can be made into fine subjects. I have two or 3 'super' Valkyrie versions and the only real problem I have with them is that the nose cones have a wierd downward droop. The old Imai kits are better proportioned.

And since we're talking about Camo schemes, this appeared on the Starship Modeler forums for Macross Zero's SV-51:

I have a couple of the Arii macross factory kits. they are nice but a little lacking in things like panel lines. If you putty the seams and put a good coat of paint on them they turn out good. Here is my armored valkyrie in made-up "camo" scheme I think I'm gonna do the regular VF-1S for this gb.

Saved the picture, cropped the design and enlarged it. gonna print it out to make a template and transfer onto one of them 50 cent bases I got from Ragshop. A good way to save 14 dollars+shipping I'd say. =P
-=Ryan=- Too many kits... so little free time. MadDocWorks

Could you change my second build as the 1/72 Hasegawa VF-22 Sturmvogel? I just dug it out last night while looking for the Valkyrie Battroid and I just gotta do that one! Wheels up, in a bank!

You got it!

The base has the kite symbol engraved on it. It does require painting. I was thinking of asking the manufacturer (He can be found in the forums of www.macrossworld.com) how he did his for the sale listing.

Aurora-7,
Welcome to the group build!
Regarding that "Kite" base: It says that that base is an "unpainted resin" kit. I assume that the arrowhead is a decal? Or does one have to paint that from scratch? (I hope not)

Ah, No! This temptation is too great! Macross is my favorite mecha anime. Since your going with something you've already started, I'll go with a Hasegawa 1/72 Valkyrie Battroid I've already started. And I ust got a Macross 'kite' base last weekend! If any of you Micronians are intersted, here's a place you can get them:

http://www.starshipmodeler.com/cfstore/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=511&CFID=287464&CFTOKEN=67520039

Since the battroid is pretty far along, I'll also do the Bandai 1/144 Queadluun Rau

Vinny,
Nice work on the Jack. I have the same kit but without the electric engine. Mine is still in the box.

Sure. Since it's a relatively narrow subject, this Group Build is open for anything Macross. The more the better.

Is it possible to do more than 1 kit for this GB??

After looking over the Battroid it doesn't seem that there is much to it besides a bit of custom painting and adding the decals.

I also got one or two Macross/Battletech resin kits that are awaiting completion too.

Hey Vinman,
Thanks for starting the GB up!!!! I have a paper pattern for the Destroid Monster. Not sure what scale it'll end up being but I'll print it as big as I can.

May also pick up a few 1/144 kits from the LHS. Might try to get ahold of the yellow submarine resin SDF-1.

Macross GB
Posted by thevinman on Saturday, October 29, 2005 1:04 AM

Since I'm already working on a Valkyrie and a few others have shown interest...

It's a MACROSS GB!

The only rule I can think of: ANYTHING MACROSS IS GAME!!!

I'm a "middle weight" too, so I never finish stuff on time. Tongue [:P]
So, for now it's open ended. So, start whenever - finish sometime next year.
Always open for suggestions so let's hear 'em. Big Smile [:D]

Oh yeah...and the badge:

We are still taking entries! Whose in?!?!
