I got that idea from some pix I saw over on MacrossWorld.com. That section of the "beaver tail" is the shield mounted on the left arm when the mecha is in batteroid mode. When in that mode, unit markings on the tail are pretty much useless. The tail codes and artwork are FPO (for positioning only) and it's a couple of current USAF unit codes and some gladiator nose art from an upcoming TwoBobs F-15C sheet. Actual tail codes have yet to be determined and personalized art will come from my scrap decal set.

Oh, and my VF-22S arrived from HLJ saturday (that order was placed on Nov. 11), so I'm expecting my VF-0S to arrive in about another week.

It's 50/50 "Radome" & "White" - box stock color scheme...just like in the movie. Maybe I'll venture into a custom scheme on another build, but I like to have at least one that represents the movie version.

Vinny,

Cobra, your scheme choice for your VF-19 looks good. Dang, with all these Y/VF-19 schemes appearing, it's tought to stay focused on me stuff! I may have to get another YF-19 kit (or two) just to try some of these schemes.

Trigger, I like your second scheme listing, myself. What is the artwork you have on the aft section on some of them?

Mine's gonna be in CAG markings for SVF-32. Trigger and I have been working on a good Swordsmen paint scheme. I'll post it soon!

Been playing with some potential Excalibur schemes as well.

Original Line Art:

I'm working on side and bottom views of the VF-19A and will post that line art when I'm done

VF-22S schemes are in progress as well, but my VF-0 will be OOB Skull Squadron

Vin,

It'll be the 1/72nd Hasegawa VF-19. Already working on possible paint schemes for it!

Sign me up for this GB as well. I've got 3 Hasegawa 1/72s to cohoose from--a YF-19, VF-1, or "Super" VF-1, with the huge engines slapped on the back. It'll probably take me a while to get under way, since I have other concerns at the moment taking precedent, but maybe this will give me some incentive to finish the things! I'd like to have a badge in my sig line.

Made a little bit of progress today. Actually made quite a mess but it'll probably be ok.

Finished with seams, putty and sanding:

Primered and pre-shaded:

There are still some spots that need more putty but I might just cheat a little and make it into battle damage spots Wink [;)]Tongue [:P]

Great. I've put you on the roster. What Scale/Make is your VF-19 going to be?

Over at the Starship Modler forum, some was asking about other Valkyrie paint schemes. There as a site he had visited that dislpay profiles of alternate schemes. Some one came back posting this site:

The typical brands like Testors, Pactra or Tamiya all should be OK. Maybe you just need a good gray primer applied first. It's the only way I'd do white. Spray a flat gray over the the surface that's supposed to be white and then spray the white after the gray is dry.

My battroid is 99% white so that's what I'll be doing for it.

whoops I guess I forogt that part. My question is this, what brand of white paint can I use that will cover well in only one or two coats?

I think I am gonna build a VF-1S Fighter and the corresponding Battroid since I had both kits in my stash. My question is this though, one of my modeling weak points is painting white, anything white including airbrushing, brush painting, any white kills me. Since the traditional VF-1S is white what brand paint would cover well and not cause me to have to do twelve coats? I generally use Tamiya Acrylics as well as Gunze acrylics. Any ideas?

I plan on getting started tomorrow, and doing these in conjunction with my other two builds an F-15C and a P-51D that I am building to represent the pair I saw fly together this summer at the St. Louis Fair and Air Show.

Same here. There are 100+ decals on the YF-19. It's taking forever.

Not really made much progress, need to get seriously cracking here.

Got a bit sidetracked with 2 builds for someone:
Crusher Joe - Dongo(1/12)
Gasaraki - Ishtar Mk II(1/35)

Check out Hobby Link Japan's site
I got my VF-0D from HLJ earlier this year and my only "complaint" is that it takes a few weeks for your order to get here. I placed an order with them for a VF-0S, SV-51 and Tenjin Hidetak's book on the 9th and I got notice this morning that they're on their way. My previous order with them was placed on 1 Nov for a VF-22S and a VF-0S w/Ghost and the shipping notice came to me on the 8th. You used to be able to track your orders, but I'm not sure you can anymore. Anyway, I'll post when they start arriving.

I am gonna build a 1/72 Hasegawa VF-1 Fighter. Unless I find a VF-0D before then.
