Hello Jules, I'm putting together a collection of all the major contributing countries top aces aircraft of ww1 in 1/32 and I'm looking for a pic of Little's Camel so I can accurately represent it.  I dont know if they do his decals in 1/32 but I figure if I can find a pic I can replicate them easy enough.  I was wondering if you know where I can find a pic or if you have one you can post or email to me.  Anyway I'm stoked to be in on my first group build, any help you can give me would be great.  Thanks, TL

Good luck to ya mate, i did an exaustive search for a pic or colour plate of Littles Camel or Camels, he appears to have flown quite a few and come up with nothing, i even contacted the Australian war memorial at Canberra and still nothing, I did however find a pic of a SQD lineup that was taken about 4 weeks after his death and all the Camels appear to be the same scheme but as far as personal markings are concerned i have no idea....Australias highest ever scoring ace and the only pics i could find were of his Triplanes and Sopwith Pup.......

Anyway have a look here  http://www.theaerodrome.com/aces/australi/little1.html

Chris I'll have a look at the LHS today cause i think they have a few Soviet kits from A/M not sure whether or not it's the Yak but i'll have a look.....

Darren & Jay i managed to get my Spitfire MK VIII kits from hasegawa for $25:00 AU, the MK VIII is the same as the MK IX just different boxing, I ended up grabbing 3 of them 2 of which i've built and the 3rd went to Tweets, in hindsight i should have bought all of them cause they will never be back at that price again.....

OK, I'm in, if that cool.  A Tamiya 1/48 P-51D Mustang, for John C. Meyer.  Meyer shot down 24 aircraft, including a jet.  Later, as a jet pilot himself, he took out 2 more jets in Korea.  He was the only pilot to be awarded the DSC 3 times.  Overall, the 7th highest American pilot of all time.  As for why I chose him...well, the Tamiya kit was opened, and it included decals for him.  (I got as far as painting 1 part, no. A17, the wrong colours, I guess that's OK for this GB?)

Great to have you on board Osher, I'll add you to the front.

As long as you don't do anymore painting, I'll let it slide...Wink [;)]

Put me down for the 1/32 Trumpeter P-40 (Warhawk Mk. IIA) flown by R.T. Smith with the AVG.  I've seen his kill count listed as 8.25, 8.67 and 8.9.  Not sure which is the correct number.

I just ordered my decal set and an aftermarket cockpit (the cutting edge set).  This will be my first attempt with an AM resin cockpit, looking forward to it!  :)

Is there a rule about doing the same kit that someone else is doing on the list?... I have the Yak-1 flown by Lilia Latvyak and I have been wanting to knock it out for a while.

I don't think it would be a big deal.  The point of the GB is to build an Ace, Lilya is an ace so that fills that part of the criteria.  As long as you have fun, go for it! See you in April!

No biggy but after looking at the P-47 that Rick's doing for the Battle of Germany GB I am now going to get the Eduard PE set for my Tamiya P-47 because looking at the IP that Rick was able to produce with that set, well Needless to say I'm getting it.

Cheers

I would like to join this GB if possible.  I would like to do a 1/72 Tamyia P-51D in John C. Meyer's Petie 2nd scheme.  He had 24 victories.

This is going to be a good one...I just picked up the Loon Models Conversion to make the P51D-5 model for Yeager's bird.  The one without the fin fillet...first time using a conversion.

Yuppers, go time is creeping up!, I've got my Spitfire and decals already to go.  I was thinking once I am done, I'd like to give it to Mr. Douglas Lindsey.  I still haven't met him yet but I am going ot try to have a visit later this spring.

Just a bit of fun, but I'd love to do the Hurricane of Johnny 'Red' Rebourne, of Eagle comics.  OK, he's fictional, and I'm just playing, but still...I used to love reading his exploits!

Well I ordered my decals from Meteor Productions the other day, now all I need is the P-47 interior set from Eduard and I'll be ready to start.  Providing I can find time in my build schedule that is Sad [:(]

Yeah I know what you mean about the time for the GBs Darren.  I am going to try really hard to get as much as I can on the Canso for the BoA GB and Spitfire for the Allied Aces GB before my wife's go time in the later half of May.

Jay, I know I'm splitting my replies to you across GB's but it had completely slipped my mind that you are not far away from becoming a Dad!!!!
Now I am deadly serious here, but when the dust has settled I expect to see some photos published in one of the GB's and remember if it's a boy Darren is a really cool name Thumbs Up [tup]

THATS  RIGHT!

Around late May eh...May 19th is a great day for a birthday .... just as Darren is a great name for a boy...Wink [;)]...however, May 19th works for a boy or girl!  Is this your first?

Speaking of kids, scratch the B model I was planning to do...my 7yr. old son saw it and asked if he could build it...could not resist...I may post some photos of the progress...should start on Saturday.

Darren sorry mate, we have several names for boys and girls picked out and sadly, Darren is not one of them.

Joe, yes it is #1.  What do you mean, may post pics of your son's build, I insist you must do it.  I'll even add his name to the list if you would likeBig Smile [:D].  PS- it is totally okay for him and only him to start early.

All others starting early will be disqualified and barred from further participation in GBs moderated by meSmile,Wink, & Grin [swg].  Ahh... who am kidding, as long as you don't start way too early, I could care less, I hate "too many rules" and people who are real sticklers.  I will be starting on April 2nd though.

Cool...#1...when you hear the child's first cry get ready for a total Zen moment...mine was like I knew the answers to all of the questions ever asked or will be asked, it was a breif moment, but one that I will always have...

I will tell the Terminaor (a/k/a Connor, my son) that he is in...it is the old Monogram 1/72 B model which will have the Eagle Strike decals...he is going to be so psyched!  Thanks Jay, and everyone else!
