Hey guys, Dad and I got the fuselage together...needs lots filler.  We dry fitted the wings, we will need more filler.

Darson,

If I ever see your stuff I bet it is really good...you have a picture of a king so you must be good.

Editor's Note (a/k/a Dad)

When your 7 there is an easy fix for those pesky fit problems!

Darren Actually Jules found the Yak-1 in a hobby shop and sent it to me,but i haven't seen him on the forums in a while and he has not responded to my E-mail of late. when I had last heard from him he had already sent it out and I had sent some American currency for a collector in his family so i guess he is MIA at the moment I hope everything is ok with him

Yeah, Termin8tr, Darren (Darson) has this wierd Kingly "divine right" complex where he lords it over us and thinks were are all his "subjects" he can order about at will, if you're on here long enough you will notice he hosts some kick butt GBs, which I think contribute to his complex.  So he put a king as his avatar just remind us all of his superiority...Wink [;)]Laugh [(-D]

Just kidding Darren, though you DO host kick butt GBs!Thumbs Up [tup]

Two days to go!!!!!

BTW your build is looking good Termin8tr.  Give us some close ups please!

Here is a close up of my work so far.  Tonight we sanded the seams.  We checked how we did with silver paint.  We still need more work.  The wings are still only dry fit.

Oh Snap!  The seat fell out...Dad says that's okay and Welcome to the hobby!

I can't wait to get to the decals!

If you only had the seat fall out so far, you are off to a great start.  I completely lost an entire wing to a 1/48 Doolittle Raider once. I am still trying to figure that one out, but I am willing to bet that the dog had something to do with it.  He has aquired a taste for styrene that the carpet monster doesnt claim first.

Keep up the good work and I look forward to more pictures!

Thanks!  Good call...will remedy, looks like I will have plenty of time to get one by the way the seams are coming! (LOL)

He has been doing all the work on his own, I show him and off he goes!  The detail on the kit will be pretty much wiped away, but who cares, it is his first!  I remember being his age and having this exact kit...this is quite a buzz...thanks to Jay.  Should be soon Jay you can have your kid jump on in on one of these!

Jay I know what you mean it's the 1st here today but I won't be able to start for a little while yet.  I'm still waiting on the Eduard PE set for my P-47 before I can do anything much at all.

At least I should be able to give the wheel wells a spray while I'm waiting.

Cheers

Oh those rotten bast@#$s!  I got a call early this week from our systems admin.  Not about FSM but about my teams list serve.  I had to drop it, no biggie as today is official retirement day (torn rotator cuff, 19 years is enough)

Well, got my build done.  How the rest of y'all coming along ?

Just kidding, it being April Fools Day here Big Smile [:D].  The Stang was built for a GB on another Forum, but it is in Eagleston's markings.  I'm doing his P-47D for this GB & thought it would be interesting to have a model of both of his mounts.

Okay Doug, let me know and I add you to the front page.  I haven't had any chance to pull out the Spiifire myself, still trying to get the Doras off the bench.

I'm just about through with my Wildcat for another GB.  I may go ahead and pull out the cockpit of my P-51 for this GB and start on it soon anyway, though.  When I get to the point of painting, I'm going to have a bunch of questions for you Alcad people.  I've never used it before so I'll need some help.  :)

I have broken the seal on the Tamiya Mustang.  Should start on the pit tonight.  I also checked out the Loon models fuselage.  Real nice quality, should be pretty interesting, never done a conversion before.

My son (Trmn8tor) is moving along quite nicely, we may be finsihed by the end of the week.

Ditto what Tryingtomodel said, I'm going to finish up my Wildcat for the carrier group build this week, and hope to begin R.T. Smith's P-40B this weekend.  This will be my first attempt at a resin cockpit, so looking forward to learning to work with resin.  Hopefully the learning curve isn't too steep!  Laugh [(-D]

Scott, I just started with Resin a few models ago, so far just little stuff like wheels on one, seats on a couple others, radial engine on another, I have yet to try a cockpit set like the airies or such.  Remember that you must use superglue!  And washing the part is good to get rid of the mold release agents or else the paint doesn't adhere to the piece and looks funny.Smile [:)]

Guys, I think I'm on that slippery slope!Evil [}:)] I got my fist bit of photoetched for the Bf-110 I'm doing for the BoB GB and I'm afraid of what is happening to me!  Someone told me last year when I first got back in that it starts small, them bit by bit you get more and more, then suddenly you're spending most of your disposable income on AM goodies!  aarrggh!Tongue [:P]

Jay that's it your toast Wink [;)] enjoy all the fidly bits.

Yukky weather on saturday & my wife out shopping means only one thing play day for BearBig Smile [:D].  I started work on the Airfix MK Vb and the putty has been flowing.  The wing assy is done and I'm adding the PE (yes I'm toast to) bits to the interior fuselage I'm also trying to figure out how to build up the PE cockpit.  Eduards does not make a set for the Airfix kit so I'm using a set for the Tamiya Spit and adjusting.  I hope it comes out ok.  I'll post some pics this week.

Cheers
