 Actually I used IJN green and I added just a touch of olive drab to tone dwn the yellow abit. Works for me!

Here are my recent progress pics. It's a great kit going together nicely. If I were working on this build alone it would be done by now. Not that I'm in a hurry just that this would go together that fast.

Hey All,

I'm a member of this GB (my first) but just wanted to say I'm a little behind in getting started on my kit.  I'm just finishing up my last build but stupid things like work, Reserve annual training in Bulgaria, and now a likely deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan for 12-18 months starting in October keep getting in the way and slowing me down. 

However, I plan to start my Eduards 1/48 P-40N before I go to school in October (requirement before going down-range) and plan to take it with and complete there. 

I also have to give kudos to Dave and Gedenke and all the others for great looking builds so far.  Dave, the P-40N scheme I'm doing is similar to yours with the white tail, though I'm building 'Empty Saddle' flown by MAJ Arland Stanton, USAAF out of Gusap, New Guinea.  I have the Pyn-Up decal set and love the nose art for this one.

Ya I paid like $12.00 for my Tamiya and I also have a A6m2 that I paid $12.00 for. I can't understand why they are so cheap. I keep thinking something is going to fit like but it keeps on flowing together. So far the only gaps is the little one in the wing root and it's not that bad.

Zip, glad to hear you're enjoying the Tamiya kit so far, do let us know how the front windscreen fits up. I've heard that the fit is "a little off" to quote the gentleman exactly. Good luck though!

Oh, by the way...Steve, not to forget you, your Corsairs look good, masking lines are a little rough, but overall a couple of sharp birds. Keep up the good work!

Hi guys,

 My eyes are back to normal and I decided to finish my 1/48 Tamiya A6M3 for this GB. Before I had my little accident I had three builds going at the same time. Well I had alittle time to think and get reorganized and since this was my first GB then I will finish this one first. So before this weekend is over I will be done with my first GB ever! I will be posting pics on Sunday 9/10.

The Corsair is almost done, but I think I overdid the paint chips, so I'm gonna try and fix that.

The KI-61 is also almost done, it just needs final assembly.

 Well as I promised I am posting my pics of my completed Tamiya 1/48 A6M3. Stayed up late last night, one thing led to another and before you know it I was done. It went together really well everything was pretty straight forward, except the color references in the insrtuctions. If you decide to build one of these do not go by the instructions for color reference. They are DEAD wrong!! I started this build doing my research. By the time I got around to building it I forgot and for some reason went by the insrtuctions for the interior color. Looked good all metalic blue and sparkley. Well all that work on the office helped build my parts box as I had to purchase another kit. But it was a small price to pay ($12.00) for such a valuable lesson. Always do your research. In my case, always remember you did your research! I will say I did learn a lot about Japanees aircraft. It is a very interesting bunch too. I painted my zero as if it just came from the factory. If it had been in action it would have a "carmel" color to it. This "carmel" was applied to protect it against the harsh elements (the weather,salt, ect. not the US Army Air Corps, need more than "carmel" to save your a** from that!)  I couldn't come up with what I thought was a suitable "carmel" so here it is straight form the factory.

  I would like to thank Jaypack55 for coming up with and producing this GB. It was my first and the first one finished. I learned alot and will continue to follow this. Would also like to thank all the participants. Your a great bunch.

Hey, Jaypack, I think I'm going to have to drop out of this build. I haven't even started my Zero yet (or even purchased it for that matter) and I don't think I'll have time to finish it before the deadline. This is mainly because I have a B-24 in another build that will be the focus of most of my modeling time. Besides,  the Steelhead are starting the fall run, so my spare time probably won't be spent crouched over my kitchen table for a while, if ya know what I mean! Thanks for letting me in anyway, though, and sorry I couldn't participate.
