Jules I think you have definitely picked the best Spit on that sheet to do.  I was toying with the idea of another Spit for this build and I found that decal sheet online and was going to pick that same aircraft mostly because I like the underwing roundels which I think add a little color.

Tanky I'll see what I can find in the way of BoB Spitfire profiles and get back to you.  Also, sorry but your other kit will have to either wait for the start of the build or it won't be eligible.

Nick I think Tom is your man when it comes to Martlets.  I know he got a fairly extensive sheet covering FAA Martlets.  I think it's this one but I'm not sure.

http://www.eaglestrikeproductions.com/cgi-bin/amd2.pl

I was doing some research last night for my build and realised that the kit decals I was going to use are completely wrong for the BoB (I think).  More research needed here for sure.

Cheers

long time no see jules.

Just wondering, I have another kit, but I am probably going to start it slightly before this GB starts. Would it still be eligible? I guarantee I will be working on it for the entire time of the GB anyway. If not, I understand. The kit is tamiya mk. I spitfire, aires cockpit, aires gunbays, aires engine, squadron canopy, true details bulged wheels, eduard photoetch, and various decals.

Another question- would anyone be willing to post some profiles of spitifires here? (that took part in BoB of course) I want to make an interesting plane, and the decals I have allow me to make anything in the RAF anyway.

OK so i found me a Spitfire to build and the decals are available from eaglestrike, Looks like i'll be building the tamiya 1/48 Spitfire MK1a PR-Q of Flg Off John Dundas from 609 SQD flying out of Middle Wallop during Aug 1940......But on the same decal sheet you get Sqd Ldr Brian lane's QV-K with the yellow spinner but i still reckon the Dundas machine will suit me better........

P.S - That's a brilliant roster!

I agree Tom, love the roster Darren, i noticed the rank thing and i think i should be put down as a Wing Commander or maybe even an Air Vice Marshall but thats only if i can get a "Kremp" approval of course.....

Tom sorry mate i've only just looked at the emails, i havn't been going anywhere near the PC or the model bench much lately but i'm hopeing that a new GB and you "Usual suspects" will help me to get the modeling mojo back again...  Glad you got your parcel ok and i'm glad to back building with you againThumbs Up [tup]

Well i just got home from the LHS and i'm now enriched with another 1/48 Tamiya Spitfire, tonight i'll hit the books and decide which particular A/C to build.......

No problems Nick, just let me know when you're sure you know what you're building and I'll add you to the duty roster.

The Allies are outnumbered by the Axis powers.  All in all, an accurate reflection of the order of battle!  What was the ratio of Hurricanes to Spitfires? 3:1 ?  If so, we're bang on target.

Thanks guys it's good to be backThumbs Up [tup]

I just checked my stash and unbeleivably i don't have a Spit MK 1, i have a large number of other Mk's V's, VIII's, IX's, XIV's and even a FRMK 24 seafire as well as a Supermarine seaplane S6, so it looks like a trip to the LHS is in order....

Hey Jason, Congrats!  It's pretty neat knowing I am contributing to the advancement of our species.  My office is kind of crazy, there are at east 5 people that I know of that are either pregnant or their wives are pregnant.  My older sister is also pregnant (#3 for her) and due two weeks before my wife, and my cousin's wife is also pregnant and due around the same time!  Exciting times in my family.  JoeRugby, I am totally taking notes and about the Mothers Day thing, I am all over it!  There is a model show here that weekend so I really have to be extra careful.

So Jason, you're from Music City Eh?  The company I work for has an office there and there has been talk of sending one of my GIS group down for some training.  Just rumblings at the moment but being a soon-to-be-new dad, I'm not sure I really want to be the one as it would have to be for more than three weeks.Sad [:(]  Whats Nashville like as a city?

Jason, Congrats!  Hang on for the greatest ride of your life!  You know I heard those same horror stories as well...and none of them are really true.  But you will be surprised what you and your wife start talking about...

MODELLING QUESTION (shocker)

These stencils for German Mottle camo, are they worth it?  The Emil I am considering is mottled, nothing like the Gustav's though.  In fact of the ones I have looked at, I am not really sure early camo is part of the deal...anyway...what say you all on the stencils?

Jay and Jason, just don't get caught the way I did.

I had the video camera rolling recording the POST match interviews if you know what I mean and under instructions from the boss I'd checked that battery on the stupid thing about 50 times and even had a spare in my pocket.  What I failed to check was how much film I had left in the camera Shock [:O]

Let me tell you I felt like that more sap from True Lies who is filming the bad guy leader do his thing and sweating big time when the low battery indicator comes on, only I had the end of tape indicator come up and guess what, no spare.  Drug crazed exhausted females don't take kindly to err honey I'm kinda out of tape Smile [:)]

Oh yeah everybody, I have just updated the rosters so can you give them a glance to make sure they are correct?

Cheers

Joe, my wife got a good chuckle when I told her the velcro comment.  We are due with our first child in July, and I am taking mental notes.   I am hearing too many terrible stories about childbirth, so it is nice to see some true things that make you laugh.

Jay, it is nice to see another Dad to be on here too.  Congrats!

It is a Tigger thing.  Jay, as a first time Dad consider the following points, cause there is a quiz later...

Baby cakca is nature's version of velcro.

The Wiggles, Telly Tubbies and any other young children's program will cause you to drink more than ever before.

Taking that 4 am feeding will generate more husband bonus points than flowers, but only until the 4 am feedings stop.

If you wife is due after Mother's Day, get her a card any way...HUGE points to be earned.

During labor while she is hooked up to monitors do not...

1.   Walk in eating anything from McDonald's

2.   continue reading once the labor pains really start

and finally...

3.   She may say she loves the man who gives her the epidural, but it only the drugs talking.

(learned about #1 & #2 personally, the hard way)

CRAP !  I forgot to log my son off again!

Jay-What JoeRugby said AND:

Bring flowers to the hospital after the birth

Plan/prepare meals (dinner) for at least a week or two

As the baby gets older/you get comfortable being alone with him/her, give your wife (your child's mother) a "pass" to go out alone or with friends.  For us, it turned into "Big Guy Day" on Saturdays-lunch @ McDonalds or K-Mart along with many other activities....kinda miss it....they grow up too quick...

Woohoo! I just picked up an older Eduard PE set for the Bf-110. My first PE!  It has a few things less than the new zoom set but I can deal with it, like it doesn't have seat belts but I can always scratch those.

Also, the LHS (Uncle Bills Hobby shop) has a sale on kits right now, he has a ton of Hasegawa kits 1:48 for $20 and 1:72 for $10, but I couldn't bring my self to buy any.  I just wouldn't be able to justify it to my boss(wife).  I am so sad...Sad [:(]

Question for the Resident Experts-which is the easier kit to build  (bf109e-3 or e-4), Tamiya or Hasawaga?  Which has the better interior detail oob?  Exterior detail oob?

Thanks

Just a quick post to let you know that I haven’t forgotten and that I'll update the roster with everybody’s entries probably tomorrow night after work.  It takes a while to do and my wife has been hogging the main PC for study.

Cheers
