Ooops, I'm building a Hurricane Mk.IIc (in the colours of 303 Polish squadron based in Northolt during the BoB - reading the Airfix instruction), and not as I said.

The interior is the Airwaves kit.  Actually, just realised I'd actually started it, then stopped right at the begining (a few bits painted of which some will need re-painting, and some PE cut and bent, but not glued) - the interior is one piece of lines,  which I'd mis-bent.

Osher, yeah, thanks for the heads up, what I have seen makes me feel the need to spruce it up.  That was my thinking for the Eduard set and trying to find a vacuform canopy. Thanks Dave, I was thinking Falcon after your last post but I went looking for both Falcon and Squadron but couldn't find either.  At least the Airfix kit looks like a Bf-110, some of their kits have some bad shape issues.

I love a good "project" so I think I'll have a little bit of fun trying to spruce this puppy up and see what comes out of it.  For sure is a re-scribe job on this one.  That will hide a lot of the problems I think.

Edit:  Dave, I took a look at it and IMO I like the other ac included in it (so poo on you).  I did the Italeri Ju188 way back when and I'd love to do it again.  Also the Do217, and the two 109 canopies I'll probably use.  Also the Hs126 is a very intersting little aircraft.  I think I'll see if one of my LHS' can order the canopies for me.

Good luck with the Airfix bf-110.  It's IMHO one of their worst kits.  I don't just mean raised panel lines, it's the sheer lack of detail.  I never actually built mine, I just had a look, and went, yuck (my mother went on holiday and came back with a few Airfix kits, but unfortunately, the worst ones.  Still, nice thought).  As for the Eduard kit, it's not bad, but those levers are not much cop (bit too thin, maybe some stretched sprue would be better?).  The side walls look OK though, and the seatbelts are good.  There are also bits for the machine gun, etc.

Jay,  it has been bugging me (and I don't want to admit that I'm THAT old)  but the set that I was thinking of was by Falcon and not Squadron.  However, Squadron and Great Models don't list the set that you need (Set #15 Luftwaffe part 3) but you can find it here at Falcon's web site.

http://www.falconmodels.co.nz/clearvax72.html

It is recommended for the Monogram and Fujimi kits though.

Edit:  Before I get you too excited I should also mention the price... $13.00 (US) as you have to buy the whole set and the other aircraft in the set are not terribly exciting IMHO!

Jay, I seem to remember that at one time squadron products had a vacuform sheet for Luftwaffe fighters with a number of different aircraft canopies on it including the Bf 110.  However, I can find no trace of it now on any of the mail order sites.  Might be old age and fuzzy memories on my part as I am an old fart you know. Okay Darren thanks for the badge, I got it and it works good.  Big Smile [:D]

So, like, am I going to be put on the roster board or what?

We need a Bf-110 this year and I got one!Cool [8D]  It is the Airfix one (the last one, I promise, well maybe not, I want to try their new Spitfire Mk IX) and I'm thinking of trying to force the eduard detail set into it and rescribing the panel lines.  I had a good result rescribing for my Canadian Boly so I think I'll try it again on this one.

The only issue is whether or not a vacuform canopy exists for a 1:72 Bf-110c.  Does anyone out there know of a 1:72 vacuform canopy for the Bf-110?

Darren - I LOVED that game!!!  It's a shame it doesn't work on WinXP... they still sell it online for like $9.  I was thinking that was where I saw that format...  but the years and many bottles of beer have clouded my memory. Wink [;)]

Having neither wife, not kids, as at the test drive stage for both these builds.  One has to do test fitting and dry runs, before committing with the bonding process.  Of course, there is always debonder, but not always so good.  One thing about the inital build, is that once commenced, no other builds, of the same scale, can be attempted, without potentially serious repercusions.

Of course, I'm pleased to see you noticed my deliberate errors...!

This is sooo cool Darren! Thumbs Up [tup] I love the roster board, ever thought of doing it in parts?, one for the Luftwaffe builders, one for the Reggia Aeronautica and one for the RAF?  By any chance did you take the idea from the Red Baron 3d game?  It look exactly like the roster in that game.

I am so pumped about this one.Big Smile [:D]  I've been waiting with my model since last summer!  Nice to see some Italian aircraft this time around!

BTW, Darren, I think you still have my animated .gif you made for me a few months back.  If you still have it would you be able to added the new BoB 06 badge to it and resend it to me?  thanks a million!

Hi Jay I'm glad you like it, I've been planning on using it for ages but never had the opportunity.  I actually got the idea from an old Microprose game called European Air War which I played ages ago.

I agree, it is nice to see some Italian aircraft this time, although we are pretty lean in the old Spitfire dept at the moment.

No probs on the badge, I'll do it tonight for you.

You're killing me Darren...... But, I'll have to join this build anyway. I probably won't get anything built for it, but that's not gonna stop me from joining. Got no ideas on what to build yet, but I'll see what I can come up with.

Forgot I've decided not to buy anymore kits before mid-June, and more importantly, that I've already got some kids ear-marked for this GB:

1/72 Airfix Hurricane Mk.1, with photo-etched interior.  Yep, I do have filler standing by.  If I get through that, I've got 3x Airfix Spitfire Mk.1's to get through too, 2 of which have PE standing by.  I'm determined to get a decent Airfix Spittie, it is possible!  My last one was juist out of alignement, and looks weird.

Nice to be called a sergeant, seeing as I really am one!

OK guys I think I have now updated the roster for everybody that has declared their build so far.  Please let me know if I have somehow missed you out Blush [:I].

I have also sharpened up the GB badges a lot and I'm much happier with them now.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

Osher: I know exactly how you feel! Darren and others, I found a really good site of the RA in the BoB here, http://surfcity.kund.dalnet.se/falco_bob.htm It has a wonderful colour photo of the Br 20 as well as a good history of their Ops. Tenente sounds like a good rank to me. Capitano sounds like way to much responsibility.

Osher - good to see ya back in the swing!  I'll enjoy building with you again!
Thanks Tom, it will be great to be building with you and the others too.  Never quite worked out your Krips reference, but it was fun reading about it!  Had a bit of a modelling break after the BoB'05 GB, but I'm really back into modelling again.  Just...even after cutting down the number of models part built on my worktop (20+) by putting some into the spares/experiment box, my desk is still full!!!  I really must learn to stop starting models before others are finished, but then a wonderful new GB comes along...!

As buried as I am in GBs right now, I can't pass this one up.  Put me down for the Tamiya 1/48 Me109 E-7.  I've been wanting to build this puppy for a while now, just need the motivation to do it.

Maybe this time I might actually get round to ordering that Boulton Paul Defiant I've been yabbering about since the first BoB GB...............

Anyways, time to start searching for a funky 'fringe' camo scheme for the 109!!!!!!!

edit:: Forgot to say 'Thanks' for the GIF animator Darson. Real easy to use!!!!
