Dave,  That's a nice little kit & an easy build.  Be a little careful on the canopy as the fit isn't the best.

Regards,  Rick

Sign - Ditto [#ditto]  I'm way behind on 3 other builds.  Will be October before I can start this one.

Sign - Ditto [#ditto]  I'm still moving home (only 5 months so far!), and have several part built kits to finish, as well the Mirage GB, which I'm chairing, also starting now...

Sign - Ditto [#ditto]  I'm in the middle of a bf109e4.  Waiting for the Ultracast seat to arrive for both this build and the Axis Aces GB.  Might get the kits washed and primed this weekend.  Maybe even paint the interior parts.  Maybe.

Absolutely.  Still struggling to finish my SBD-5 for the Carrier Aircraft GB, and my Corvette Roadster is moving just as slowly.  More likely than not, I'll start this GB mid-September which is fine as we have plenty of time.

Building Now:

1/48 Academy Bf-109G6 - 100%

1/48 Tamiya F4U-1A - 5%

Upcoming:

1/48 Revell F-14D

Well with the first rapidly approaching, how many of you guys plan on starting on that date? I know I can't as I've got a couple things on the bench that need "cleaned up" before I can go for it. What you ask? Well, the spirit of St. Louis for one, and my F-4U-1D, and my V-1 Buzz bomb, and my P-38J. I'm going to try to finish the Spirit and the V-1 before I start anything else. Is someone else in the same boat as me?

Spent a little time last night looking at the resin in detail.  I'm not happy with the True Details kit-seat is cast thin in some areas & detail isn't as good as my recent experience with Ultracast.  Also, the rudder pedals are 'warped'.  Might order an Ultracast seat, if I can get one quickly.  Or just go with the PE belts on the kit seat.  The resin interior panels do offer good detail though.....if they fit....

Tanky-finally figured out what I will be building.  I'm going to build the 1/48 Academy P-40C Tomahawk with True Details resin interior & Eduard PE.  Like my Dad once said (regarding my spending money on cars in my younger days), "...it's like putting a $200.- saddle on a $25.- horse".

I've been eagerly awaiting September so this GB can begin, but now that the date is fast approaching I'm realizing I'm still too deep in other builds.  ARRGGHH!  There's just not enough time in a week!

Well, I'll just get to it when I can get to it.

Wow a 1:24 p-47, that would be impressive.  Smile [:)]

Anyway Tanky, looking at my schedule and my ever shrinking time for modelling, I know I will not be able to get to this build for a long time and seeing as I have 6 kits in my stash and non fit this GB, I doubt I'll even get around to buying the P-47 I wanted for this GB.  I'm all tapped out so I doubt I'll get around to this build. Sad [:(]

I'll keep stopping in to check the progress of others though.

I have seen the P-40's in the squadron catalog and my LHS has a couple,my biggest prob is the cost of large scale kits I have a fairly limited modeling budget.Grumpy [|(] but I make due.Big Smile [:D] I will probably go 1/48 unless I can get a 1/32 on the cheap like the 1/32 hase FW-190/A8 I grabbed for the Axis Aces GB

I'll wait for Hasegawa or Tamiya doing one in 1/32.  1/24 is too darn big.

It's from Vintage, who produced the P-40 in 1/24 recently.  Speaking of which, that I believe comes in an AVG version too.  They're a new company, the P-47 will be their second kit.  Quite a few reviews of their kits.  I know one of the builders for one of the reviews (being a member of the same IPMS club as me), and have seen the build progressing.  Not bad, but could do much better would be a verdict on the P-40.  Maybe in America you don't have Vintage?

Here are some online reviews of the P-40

That will be an absolute monster...you know if you want Commonwealth markings on it , it may not be that hard to come up with your own masks and paint them on...Yeah!! [yeah]

I haven't been able to model for 4 months now, and have another week or two to go.  Yep moving is a stressful time, and what was supposed to be a few hundred £ of minor repairs to one room, has ended up as a whole house £6,000 nightmare!  Amazing how as you fix one thing, you find it hides something else... (just don't ever mention the lighting, that was, well, interesting shall we say?)

Hence, all my supposed GB participation is nil.  However....I'm fired up, raring to go, and, yep, adding my name to another GB!  I've got a P-40, of the AVG.  It's an old Academy/Minicraft 1/72 offering.  Not sure what the colour scheme is.  The instructions just say brown and green, and say to look at the box art.  Nice that the box top is a different colour to the box side!  Any clues anyone?

Anyway,  count me in!  Not going to be able to start for a wee while, as need to finish other GB first, but I'll be there, eventually!

well... where were the markings applied? If they were applied in the CBI area you're still good to go.

that's the spirit arki. I'm lloking forward to getting started on my P-51A as well, since I've never built an accurate miniatures kit before.

My P-40N arrived the other day.  There was a tender, sad moment as I longingly stared at the box, wishing to see it build before my eyes.

And then I realized we still have over a month to go before this GB starts, so I hurriedly stashed that sucker away before I fell victim to temptation.
