Been away for awhile (work and life).  Not sure how this with "Kelly's Heroes" got going....

I agree, a great movie.  No, it is not "historical" and the writers took plenty of liberty with the story.  But it is still a great movie.  And for the time that it was made, during the Vietnam War, and the attitudes in our culture at that time.  I think I remember on film critic saying this is WWII history on Flower Power Drugs.

Can't thik of the actor's name, but the guy that played the ever absent (both pysically & mentally) Luetenant.  He was a great minor character.  I still get a chuckle when I think of the character.

If you get a chance to buy the movie, you need to (about $10 at best Buy if they have it).

Progress on the P-51.  The overall shine that I was hoping for will be somewhat lacking in the end I think.  I have never used the chrome Alclad before and the first coat looked like the bumper of a brand new 55 Chevy.  The tape mask for the tail left some dark marks and the respray of the fuselage between the pit and tail was somewhat duller than the 1st coat.  But it will be what it will be.

Looks awesome from where I'm sitting, Marc! I've never tried their chrome either, just some of the aluminums, and I thought they were shiny until I took a good look at yours. Fantastic work as usual! Thumbs Up [tup]

OK, I am half way there.  Got the plane just about finished... a couple of decals to print and add along with the antenna wire.

On the "5 most pleased-0 least pleased" am I happy how it turned out scale... I am at about a 2-2.5.  The pics don't show the myriad of issues, most due to the 1st experiment with the chrome Alclad... but there are some bone head painting mistakes I made too.  But even with the problems... man this sucker is shinyCool [8D].  And hard to get take pics of Wink [;)]

Looks REALLY shiny Marc!  Hard to believe it gave you any grief, as it looks like a 10 outta 10 to me!

Actually, I DO think it would look better with drop tanks hanging under 'dem wings. Wink [;)]

Thanks Marc!  Here is my revised entry for this GB, a Tamiya 1/48 Do-335A as featured in the NASM.  I plan to build it OOB with just some simple seatbelts.

I finally got to start on my Do-335a today!  Nothing worth taking photos of, just cleaned up the office parts and gear bay parts and sprayed them with some Gunze RLM 02.  Also sprayed the rear radiator area underside blue, and am waiting for the RLM 02 to dry so I can do some masking and finish spraying the cockpit parts.

Here is another photo of the aircraft I am modeling.

Luckily, the kit decals include the markings for werk no. 240102.  The only thing I have to change is the swastikas on the tail.  The kit decals are the black with white outline and I raided my spares to come up with the white outline only version.

How about 'The Dirty Dozen' Thumbs Up [tup] (the original, not all of those sequels Thumbs Down [tdn])  Or another great movie from that 60's bunch would be 'The Devil's Brigade'

well i wasnt able to get either one of the models. and i was at the Niagara Falls Air Base this past sunday so i decided that this would be cool to model...its on a concrete pillar in the air and some of the markings are a little cracked and missing...so yeah i think i have a better chance of doing this one than any other

I finished up the office this evening, and can start gluing the fuse soon.  I must admit, it feels strange not to do the regular chipping, stains and grime usually found on one of these!  I used a very thin raw umber and black wash just to make the detail more noticeable, then a little drybrushing.  I was going to use the kit decal for the 'belts to keep it OOB, but went with making tape belts with a little buckle hardware painted on.  Not the best looking, but I really wanted a quick build as opposed to super-detailed.  I started working on the L.G. parts today too, and what a project!  Lots of parts, ejector pin marks and mountain ranges for seam lines!  Not the usual Tamiya quality, but very detailed so should look nice when finished.  More to come!

Is it too late for me to join in? Didn't see a specific date set for entering. I realise you started 2 months ago, but I still have 10 more months to go!!

If I do enter, I'll build a museum ship. Probably USS New Jersey, since she's only an hours drive from here.
