Revell Monogram Group Build!!!

O.K.  I am just a little bit over due.  Normally winter is primo building time.  I was looking forward to enjoying some bench time with not much to do outside for a few months...then the decorator came.  I have had a multitude of projects since October.

Anyway, my Night Lightnin is finally done.  I did get a pretty bad case of getdoneitis, but I am still happy with the results given the purpose of this build.  Here are a couple of pics of my P-38M hanging in my 2 year old son's bedroom.  The pics are taken from the most flattering angle and a couple of details are questionable, but my daughter (she is 6) insisted that Andy would like it better this way.  The important thing is it was fun.  That being said, any and all comments are welcome from those who may pass by.

As you can see, I am just as neat painting a room as I am painting a model.

Thanks , yes that is what happened, but hey, if it had never happened I wouldn't have made this one...lol.

No worries. I just figured I'd ask. Since it's close to being finished it's probably defeats the purpose of the GB. And it might be a little late to do a build thread. I had found this site right before I got my Victory kit. so I didn't think to take pics to do a build thread. But i'll post up some pics when it's finished in the ships thread and give you a run down of how it went.

I have that kit and will build up with my kid, would love to see a build thread ;)  Maybe some of the more experienced posters can let you know what is the "policy" on deadlines... in any case, good luck with your build! Steve, this is the 90s reissue of the 70s vintage boxed Monogram 1/48 MiG-15. It built it straight OOB, no add ons. The only mods I made to the kit was to drill out the gun barrels and gun camera port. And I put lots of birdshot in the nose so I would not have to use the clear tail support. This one is quite tail heavy without that. I used Aeromaster decal set 48230, Korean War Aces pt II. I started it back in August and was fairly nearly done by Thanksgiving until life intervened.

Now she'll sit next to my Monogram F-80 on display. 

Wow Stikpusher, Absolutely, freeking awsome. Words cannot express how much I like that cammo job. That is a very nice build, clean and well executed build. One to be proud of. Thanks for sticking with the build and it is never too late to show your completed work. Glad you did. If you would remind me of the details of this build?, OOB, decals, manufacture etc. Congrats.

OK, she is finally complete. A few weeks late, but done at least. Monogram 1/48 MiG-15 built as a Korean War NKPAF night fighter flown by a Soviet "volunteer" pilot.

ygmodeler - congrats! nice bird, love your photo composition! I think I saw your, ahem, other paint-balled pic before ;)  did you use a sharpie for panel highlights that then turned to "blah" upon dull coat?

Well kinda, still need to do some stencils and the stand but i'm calling this one done!

oh and pictures of the first F-106 after the stupid dull coat, which caused me to build this one....(i took my aggresion out with a new paint job)

My daughter gave me her Bill Elliott McDonalds Taurus. She considers it too daunting and prefers looking at cars to building them...now i know why she loves Snap-Tites!

So, tonight I took it out during the Super Bowl and got the engine mostly done. Monday or Tuesday night my son and I will be working on the Todd Bodine Tabasco Grand Prix.

OK ygmodeler, in the final stretch so get it done my man. Looking forward to seeing the 106 completed.

Decals were in the box. I used them for insignia. No a/c number since I do not know it.

The panel lines were preshaded with black.

Painted with tamiya primer than preshaded with black MM and Neutral grey and Olive Drab both from MM enamels. Sealed with MM clear coat lacquer 

The base is a std Eduard piece. THey sell it online but Limited Edition kits usually have this "attachement" - I took it from P-40N/M of Eduard limited Edition

On December 10 (three days off ) I finished my Revell P-40B

I thought I share this one with you because it was a nice experience for me and I believe it is worth to show what can be done with such cheap kit.

 Legend cockpit, IP from Eduard (and gun sight) WHeel Wells from ... do not remember and panel lines scribbed with squadron tool
