I find a major fault- your Fort is better than it's background.(just kidding!)

If you took it down to the local Motel that has palm trees, or a sand dune etc. and took some shots, we'd all be so impressed.

Model photos make the deal.

Okay, I will!

Here they are:

First, the one you pointed out and the brilliant fix you came up with:

That also explains why there are no guns. That was extremely smart!

Now for the ones I noticed:

Hmm, no prgress to report on my Titanic but I recently finished a Spitfire and have two Bf-109s that will be done VERY soon so I'd better get back at this one.  I hope if i can concentrate for a a solid month on it it will be done (fingers cross that nothing else come up!).

I would think starting with the color itself ; OD (at least 60 years ago) was a paint that wore very very fast under the influence of sunlight (not the soap), it got a lot lighter and became some kind of brownish-yelloish-green.

Adding oilstreaks and exhaust marks wouldn't hurt either.

Great jobs you're all doing here, fellas Thumbs Up [tup]

Hey fellas! In my continued quest to double major in both armor AND aircraft (a la Espins!) I think it would be wise for me to get my butt into some group builds with wingy things. I've got a bunch of builds going on, so currently I'll have to enter with the P-38 I'm doing for the P-38 group build unless I come up with some extra time to do something different - I have a 1/48 Monogram Warthog and a 1/48 Phantom (with PE included!) that have been in my mom's attic since I left to join the army - that was 14 years ago. I was going to ask if anyone knew anything about those kits, but it might be a BIT out of current time reference. Heh. Big Smile [:D]

Awful nice stuff you guys are cranking out here. Looking for time to go back through all the pages of things that're already built.

Niether the Monogram 1/48 A-10 or the F-4's have changed much. They are pretty much the same as they have always been with raised panel line detail with exception to the Pro Modeler series with did have the recessed panel detail because they were reboxed Hasegawa kits. I have the Revell version of the 1/48 Warthog on my stash and it's the same molding as the old Monogram kit. I am also currently working in the old Monogram 1/48 F-4J Mig Killer kit which is out of production now and added a resin cockpit set to acurately show it as a J version and not the E version cockpit the kit comes with. Only things to really consider is whether or not to get aftermarket detail to add to them.

Update on my F-106:

I've got the wings and lower fuselage together and the wheel wells done. Tomorrow night the tailpipe and upper feuselage go on. I've also painted a lot of the fiddly bits that will be attached to the fuselage later.

Well the battle of the invasion stripes is finally over and I am very pleased with how the wings came out and I have some touch ups and adjustments to make to the fuselage. Overall, I am happy with the results and it looks right to me. The fuselage stripes are a little aft where I wanted them to be but i had to eyeball some work to get everything straight. Next up a little weathering and decals.

Thanks for looking and if anyone has any advise on weathering an Olive Drab finish I would be interested. Not sure how to proceed.

Please enter me in this GB, for the 1:400 USS Pine Island. I've got the old "burning plane" box, plus a huge fret of PE.

Super work Joe!

Due to technical difficulties, I have no pics to post of my P-38.  Work is coming along slowly but I do have the booms and the wing section together.  I am working on clean up right now.  Then it will be time to restore some of the lost detail after that.

I will be gone for two weeks or so for annual training at Ft Stewart.  I am planning to take the P-38 with me since we will not be in the field this year.  Hopefully I will be able to get a little something done.

So I posted this on my other group builds but yea

I have been absent from here for so loooong! I didnt quit I swear! I have been working 7 days a week since Dec 15 and to date I have had about 4 - 5 days off since then... It really puts a damper on ANYthing thats not work or sleep or Housekeeping...

The z is at the same spot it was when we first started this build.. the body on this Revell kit isa nightmare haha... Not a single well fitting body piece in the whole kit. I lvoe the Z tho so I will stick it out. Sorry to be absent for so long guys.. im practically married to my work, only at the end of the day.. my laudnry is still not done :(

I have done it once before but it came to an untimely end during a move before it was finished.  My problem is that my seam work is just that, decent.  I guess that R/M is a good way to inprove those skills though.

Mac - wow, you decided to go with the Nightfighter version, good luck with that!  You're gonna love the fit of the canopy...  Shock [:O]  Looking forward to watching your progress.  Smile [:)]

I'm almost done building that same kit, although I'm doing it up as Bong's fighter.  That kit requires a lot of seamwork, but if you have decent seam filling skills you'll do just fine with it.  Smile [:)]

I would say the scale is about 1/118 since my model has a 1 foot wingspan and the Mariner had a 118 foot wingspan.  I think in those days they made the model fit the box.

Well, I'm inspired and I just finished the Airfix Welcome Back GB, so I'm in with the Pine Island. It's got a little itty bitty Mariner at whatever the scale is, about 1:400.

Congratulations to The Last Priest and Pink Chevelle! I wish you many years of happiness. Ms. Bondo does not model, but she is most tolerant.
