My 427 Cobra is now finished. I had some trouble with the decals, to the point that the markings on the car are not quite accurate. There's a white stripe on the side of it that goes from forward of the doors to the very rear of the fender, and I tore the first decal badly. I just couldn't get that back end to move around where I needed it, no matter how much water I laid down. I trimmed the stripe so that it ended at the forward curve of the back fender, and did the same with the other side before even trying to apply that one. Though it's not what it should be, it does look pretty sharp.

I had some tearing and lay-down problems (again, probably my fault, not Revellogram's) on the racing stripe on the top of the body, but Micro Set, patience and (in the case of the hood) white paint solved it all. There are still a couple of blemishes, but the recipient might not even notice them.

Now, on to the F-106.

The F-106 really looks nice.  Even with the challenges that you encountered, I would say that the end result was worth it.

Your P-51 also turned out looking great.  I thought that it might be a little too shiny with the photos the other day, but with all of the markings in place, it looks pretty sweet!

I'm getting some good progress on my Intruder.  My plan is to display it on an aircraft elevator, so I have spent some time gathering the needs for that, including references (thanks to all that have helped out!).

I have the Verlinden update set that includes PE for the cockpit, canopy and the crew ladders, as well as resin replacements for the cockpit tub, avionics bay, and seats.  I have the tub and seats done, have pictures that I will post tomorrow. (Need to reshoot the office, since the pics are blurred.)

The exciting part, to me at least, is that I am scratchbuilding a wingfold set for the composite wings.  I am doing the Main Battery VA-196 CAG plane, and it is a later aircraft.  I have the wings prepared (cut and shaped), and I will grab some progress pics of those, too.  

Nice work on the Phantom.  One suggestion.  Cut off those two pitot tubes on the front of the vertical stab, drill a small hole and replace with a cut off straight pin.  The real ones are natural metal anyway and the pins look much better than that lump of plastic.  Put the pointy end out, but be careful when handling or they will "bite" you.

Sounds like a tough build Tony but the results look great. I got a little more work done on the Phantom. It's painted and glossed ready for decals.

I have finally finished the Convair F-106 Delta Dart. I used Eagle Strike decals to model it as a jet from the 460th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota, 1972            I lightly weathered it using pigment powders, then washed off most of it as these planes were kept in very clean condition. I sanded and rescribed all panel lines and puttied and sanded and puttied and sanded and puttied and sanded. This kit basically gave me fits and I thought I would never get it to look decent. I learned a lot about puttying and sanding and repairing broken parts. The struts for the wheel doors came off an old Dart I built last year. I broke all 4 of them off during the course of the build. I had to drill out and install brass rod for the fuel tanks because I broke them off too. I also broke the pitot tube.

Let me know what you think, good or bad, how I can improve, any tips etc. I really earned this group build badge. The kit qualifies for a purple heart.

Duke, how about helping me get in too.  I got started on the PBM and noticed that the copyright is dated 1957.  These old kits are crude but with today's techniques and tools (airbrushes) they can be made to look pretty good from a distance. Here is the start of my build.  Greg

The P-51 finish looks really nice.   I rarely see any Alclad where I am, it is even rare to see it at the shows that I go to.  I am wondering how it works (isn't there a base coat that has to be applied first?), and how it compares to Testors Model Master Metalizer line (which I am a fan of).  That B-17 is also quite a project, and I will also look forward to seeing the results of it as time goes on.  I started a little work on an F-14 A to D conversion for the 1/32 Tamiya kit a while back, and I ended up in one spot making my own part with sheet plastic rather than cutting out plastic and attaching resin pieces.  Even with 35 years of building experience, I am not completely comfortable with major conversion work, so my hat is off to you.

Hey Duke, thanks for the warm welcome.   

I double checked my Me 410 kit, it's a Revell.  I'm tempted to do the the variant with the 50mm Cannon in the nose just because it looks so cool! 

Now THAT is some major surgery.  Good luck with the conversion process.
