Raptordriver - Taking pics is not as easy as it seems, took me awhile to get my pics done (see post below). Keys seem to be enough light and a bright background. Keep on modelling!

Well, my Mig 15 is almost finished. I just need the weather to lessen the humidity (been raining lately) so I can airbrushe the flat topcoat and weathering... Pics of the finished bird coming soon...

Thanks Steve and Jim, I appreciate your comments and interest.  Smile [:)]

I ran into a little bit of a snag with the Me 410.  I thought I had the spacing correct for the front end of the fuselage assemblies, but was apparently I didn't make the gap at the front wide enough.  I discovered that little glitch when I attempted to attach the quad 20mm cannon pod.  I managed to split them apart enough to break loose the glue points at the very front a bit, and will use the clear plastic nose panel as a spacer guide when I attempt to attach the gun pod again.

I swear, with all the holiday activities and hectic schedule at work, I hardly have any time for the forums or for my builds.  Sigh [sigh]

Congrats on the third place! One good looking Tiger, also a great thread to "keep" for all the info regarding the build... I am also an (occasional) "dark side" builder, but so bad I wont even show anything for a bit.... that thread had a lot of good info, and well done again, amazing you got to that level of quality after just a few kits , well done! :)  Cheers, Jim

Thanks guys!  Smile [:)]  Here's the Tiger for those who are interested.

I spotted a few sink marks on the Me 410 fuselage, so I had to apply some more putty and do some more sanding.

Thanks JMart, I took a short break from the Me 410 to get two of my tank builds ready for a model contest in Sacramento, took 3rd place with my Tiger, not bad for my first time entering anything.  Smile [:)]

Anyway, I'm done with the fuselage seams and am working on the wing assemblies as we speak.

Thanks Duke!  I appreciate the vote of confidence.  Smile [:)]

I finally had a moment to get the cockpit assembly installed and the fuselage halves together.  I must admit I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to get it all to fit in there.  I was a little nervous simply because the instructions and the engineering of some of the parts makes it very difficult to tell how and where a piece is supposed to go.

For those of you looking to build this kit, I would recommend having the clear plastic piece that attaches at the front of the nose handy so you can used that to tell if you have everything installed correctly.  If the space at the front of the aircraft is wider than the front nose glass, then you need to do some more tweaking to get the cockpit tub in there correctly.  Once I had the front of the assembly positioned right, everything else just literally fell into place.  Smile [:)]

Well, I've seen your work and if anyone can do it, you can. I know you'll get it looking right.

Good luck Scott!

Steve, that's the kit canopy. I fixed the bugger and Futured it. It sat on the bench for nearly three weeks while I worked on commish pieces and everytime I looked over at it I was tempted to install it. Thing is I hadn't had the decals and flat done yet so had to wait. Thanks for the kind words.

Thanks guys.  It was a little frustrating putting together the cockpit subassemblies.  The directions are extrememly vague as to where to place the piece with all the buttons that attaches to the left side (if facing towards the rear) of the gunner/radio operators.  That's the one thing that frustrates me more than anything with Revell or Monogram kits is the vague instructions, and sometimes poor engineering so that it's nearly impossible to tell how a piece is supposed to fit in there.  Hopefully I did it right and I can get that whole assembly stuffed into the fuselage halves after work tonight.  Shock [:O] Laugh [(-D]

Nice one Troy, you did a great job on it. The canopy is especially good and one of the clearest canopies I have seen. Is that an aftermarket item or did you fix the kit one. Very nice job on the camo job and the slight faded effect.

Espins, very nice work on the pit, the drybrushing turned out well. Good job.

Turned out real nice hkshooter!  Cool [8D]

I've been a busy boy yesterday and today, the cockpit is completely assembled and is ready to be installed into the fuselage.  Big Smile [:D]

Ok finally done. Here is the final installment of my second kit for last years SSGB which is also the same kit I offered for this group build.

Kit went together ok. Decals were not good though.

I used decals from the stash and the markings are fictional.

Cockpit is spartan. I really had to fight off the AMS to build it OOB.

Paint is MM enamels, flat is Polyscale.

After looking at this one next to a P-47 I realized just how big this airplane was. A real beast.

A real beast of a plane and a beast of a kit. I don't know just how much AM stuff is out there for this kit but there is plenty of room for it.

Thanks, Steve for the kit! Looks like I may be the first to complete a SSGB kit and the last also! Or at least close to it.Laugh [(-D]

Thanks for the comments guy's, as I said it is going to be a continous work in progress. Whenever I get the chance to add to it or improve it I will. I am definetly going to put some vehicles on it.

Espins, great work you have there on the interior of the 410. It is comming along nicely. Does the kit give you different options as far as armerment is conserned.

Man, this baby packs a whallup!  Shock [:O]

I'm going to do the variant armed with six 20mm cannons and four MG 17 7.9mm machine guns all in the nose.  It also has two remotely controled 13mm MG 131 housed in little barbettes on both sides of the aft fuselage that fire to the rear.

Great job on your C-47 and diorama Steve!  Very cool! Cool [8D] Thumbs Up [tup] Thumbs Up [tup]

All the cockpit/gunner subassemblies have been put together and have had the base coat of Tamiya XF-24 Dark Gray sprayed.  Tomorrow I'm going to drybrush the instruments, knobs etc.  If all goes well, I'll be putting the fuselage together tomorrow afternoon.  Smile [:)]

Looks awesome, Steve. Great layout, right size, composition looks good. I really like the ground work. Toss in a vehicle or two like you are talking and it'll be a real gem! Very nice for a first time! I've yet to cross the first dio myself. Your kinda makes me wish I had finished that B-26 dio I started.

Thanks for the comments guy's. I apppreciate the info Daryl, I thought Tamiya had released the truch but did not know about the jeeps yet. I have not seen any at the LHS yet so I will probably shop online for some. I will probably continue to work on the dio as little items become available.

Well done figures Steve!

That makes up into a nice diorama and now there are options on the jeep;

Tamiya has a new one - http://www.missing-lynx.com/reviews/48/tamiya32552reviewbg_1.html

Hasegawa has another -  http://www.modelingmadness.com/scotts/misc/military/hasegawa/x4812.htm

and now that these are out it should make the old Bandai jeep easier to find on the 'bay Cool [8D]

Tamiya also has a truck available - http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/kits/tam/kit_tam_32548.shtml Someone is doing resin conversions for the truck to turn it into a fuel truck.

Tamiya is also about to re-release a P-51 kit that will include a 4 door sedan staff car. http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=89732
