I thought that this was a Revell Monogram group build!  That F-4 looks far to nice to be one of their kits.  Are you sure that you didn't slip in a Hasegawa on us?   In all seriousness, the plane turned out very nice and I congratulate you on your fine build!

and then scratch built some details.  not perfect but then again most wont be seen.  i want the illusion.

Mk, Great job on the Phantom! I can tell it is indeed a Revell-Monogram kit... I can still see the seam line behind intakes 

Just an FYI... Monogram had a 1/48 Pro Modeler kit of the F-4E that did indeed have the recessed panel lines. I know this because I have the kit in my stash.

Air Master I too have one of the Promodeler kits it's the Hasegawa kit in a Monogram box. A good buy if you can find one cheaper than the Hase. boxing.

Hi gang, I am still plugging along on my PBM.  It was such a simple model, I decided to add a little scrach building to "earn" my badge.  It needed some beaching gear so I made some detachable units.  I then hogged out the stupid engine fairings and built recessed engine plates.  Next I made a crew door out of plastic card and wine bottle foil.  Lastly, I backdated the radar dome to the old version by wraping it with card stock.  And don't forget those pesky vortex thingies on the horizontal stab.  Greg

Nice work on the PBM.  I love the shark mouth on the box art.  Instead of wolf in sheep's clothing, is that called a "shark in whale's clothing?"

Well, after long last, I finally finished my B-17G.  I made so many mistakes on this build, it's ridiculous.  I salute all the modelers that make this kit look good.  It tested my skills and it's well beyond my abilities still.  You gotta really work to make this thing look nice OOB.  I hope you enjoy the pics, sorry my camera sucks but maybe it will hide some of the many blemishes. 

Looking good Joe, you've taken on quite a project but it's coming along nicely! 

Dave, your finished B-17 looks great to me!  I've heard it's a bit of a challenge, but you seem to have met it head on and won! 

Fightnjoe nice work on the interior. Looks like your making good progress. One thing I see you should remove the control yoke next to the bobsite. It was used to control the chin turret on the G models earlier A/C didn't have it.

Dave your B-17G looks pretty good to me. I know it can be a tough build.

Hi guys sorry I haven't posted anything yet, but my computer crashed and just got I back up and running, needless to say this took up a lot of my time.  Now I'm ready to start on the P-51D.

All the builds look great, hope mine turns out a least half as good (Haven't build a model in a long time)

Blemishes?!  What blemishes??  You have personalized weathering.  And since you have modeled a plane that has seen some action; your result looks very well to me.  I am sure you have seen some photos of some of the battle hardened planes, so yours is looking like it has done some "egg dropping" over Europe.  It looks like you put on a very fine layer of 'dust' for the look of flying a couple of missions.  About the only thing I'd suggest is to add a few spots of an off-color to represent "repaired & replaced" body panels (if you felt like you need to do something to improve the big bird).

I know what you mean about the difficulty in this kit.  I have built it twice; the first time, I was 12 so I didn't know better; the second time, I was building it for hobby shop, so I went nuts trying to correct the issues.  Since it is now hanging from the ceiling, I 'whimped out' and didn't do anything that wouldn't be seen from below.  I think most Monogram kits have been designed for "ceiling flight" and not "ground maintenance on the shelf".

I took the pictures of my finished A-10! I know, the colors are so off you'll probably want to vomit, but it looks okay in my eyes ; ). You'll probably notice I'm not so much of an accuracy freak- just as long as it looks good. I'm a complete novice at model-building, and i have to say this is the best one I've built so far. Hope you like.

Please ignore the super glue fume marks. I was told somewhere by a birdy that it would not adhere to Future-treated clear parts. Oh well...

mpddraco, I have this one in the stash, which decals will you use?  While I love Big Beautiful Doll, My favourite scheme for the P-51 is the 55th FG.  I plan on doing Miss Marylin.

Also, no progress on my Titanic, I've got three other GBs taking my time.

I Like It!   You - a complete novice - yeah and I play for the Broncos.   This looks like a potential model contest intrant to me.

 I think doing an aircraft in a scheme that you want to do gives an added motivation to complete it.  Sometimes, if I am trying to copy a scheme, I lose intrest.  This one would have kept my intrest if I had been building. 

You did a great job of color selection; my first thought was you did this as a 'what if' Kuwait scheme.  You also did a great job of getting it loaded to go do some "bad guy A$$ kicking"  Your cockpit detail is wonderfully detailed.  Looks like you put some hours into that!
