Blemishes?! What blemishes?? You have personalized weathering. And since you have modeled a plane that has seen some action; your result looks very well to me. I am sure you have seen some photos of some of the battle hardened planes, so yours is looking like it has done some "egg dropping" over Europe. It looks like you put on a very fine layer of 'dust' for the look of flying a couple of missions. About the only thing I'd suggest is to add a few spots of an off-color to represent "repaired & replaced" body panels (if you felt like you need to do something to improve the big bird).
I know what you mean about the difficulty in this kit. I have built it twice; the first time, I was 12 so I didn't know better; the second time, I was building it for hobby shop, so I went nuts trying to correct the issues. Since it is now hanging from the ceiling, I 'whimped out' and didn't do anything that wouldn't be seen from below. I think most Monogram kits have been designed for "ceiling flight" and not "ground maintenance on the shelf".
