OK guys, I cheated and started early. the official start will still be Jan 1 07, but feel free to start early!

you can see in the pic above the scribed and filled lines

this one here, the one on the right, you can see the rescribed lines because they are darker than the corresponding ones on the opposite side. I found my perfect rescriber! it was hiding in a cheaply Wally World Swiss knife thingy. its surprisingly good!

Jinith, you said this is the first specific company group build... There is an Italeri group build going on in the armor forum, there was a Revell Monogram group build last year. Sorry if I sound alittle harsh.

Anyway once I get $20 I'll go to wolly world and see if they have something besides a P-40 or a F-106 as I am already building that for the 2nd time.

Bleh.. this is the kit from hell lol .. so I was reading online about prepping the body. It says to sand the body toremove any swirl marks left from injection blah blah blah.. then it says to sand it with fine sandpaper, and spray a light coat of surface sealer before spraying first primer coat.

Question: What is Surface sealer. I always thought this would be the primer.

Also the bodylines on the doors are like almost non existent. Im finding it difficult the scribe my own since this is the first time I have actually tried. Since im going for the race kind of look.. I think Ill just smooth them all out, and fill in door handles add a front to the included roll bar, and call it a full blown race chassis haha.

ok now its bed time. 1:30 am is late enough..

Hey T, I am building this same kit for the GB and I am also going OOB plus my own add-on's with it. There are some things you can add to the cockpit yourself with things you find around your house. I added a canopy lever just using bread tie wire. If you have a Jewelers or Opti Visor it's really easy to make your own PE from scratch and add it on. Thin malable wire, even copper wire and any stiff tin foil from vacume seals on coffee cans or other products will work. If you have PE laying around unused from other kits that can also be adapted for your Six. Look for photo references and add detail where you can.

right click on the banner in the first post and click "copy image location." then, in your signature editor thingy, place it between [ img] and [ /img] (without any spaces, I just put those there so they would show up). It'll look like this (without the spaces). [ img] http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n316/MerlinzMajik/FlameWings.jpg [ /img]

OK so I was sitting at my worktable thingy and nearly scalped myself. on the bottom of the SR... the blackbird not the drone... there is lik an almost 1/8 gap running all along the right joint where the bottom and top fuses come together... and right there, split by the gap, is the most complex scribing job on this project... and when I squeeze the gap together, it mathces up zilch!!!!

So, do you have room for another builder in this group?  I am currently finishing up an F-14 (Hasegawa, 1/72 scale) for a couple of other builds, but I have several Revell, Monogram, and Revell-Monogram kits in my stash, and these group builds seem to keep me focused.  Let me know if I am "in" and I will decide on which kit to build, but it will probably be the recently reissued X-15.

psychoblue, don't worry about the larger size. One of the first things I did with my Supra was change the size of the exhaust from 2.5" to 3". More Power!!!Evil [}:)]

Since this is a long GB I wont be starting on my B-25J right away, I did however do a bit of shopping to add to the detail on the old kit, I purchased the Eduard PE sets for the bomb bay and the rest of the plane.  Hope to start on it in the next month or so.  I have a couple of builds that I need to finish before starting on another one.

I was wondering if someone might explain how the GB works and if it might be ok for a rookie to this forum to join? It really seems like a good way to learn. Ive been looking a the F-18 S/H I have other F-18's but this would be a good reason to pick this kit up.

I group build is basically a bunch of people who are building the same or similar thing, ad its really informal. like if you read the first few pages of this GB, u will see how nuts we are Big Smile [:D]

if you want to join, you are more than welcome to! anybody can do it, even rookies! rookies are encouraged to do it. want me to put you down?

oh, and welcome to the community Big Smile [:D]
