well guys, I figured out that by the time I get to attaching the vert stabs to the SR, I will be stripped down to my bones, because today, I joined the two halves of the drone together, scalped myself, and cut a chunk out of my cheek. I also upchucked my breakfast onto my workbench and wrecked my radio clock.

nice progress! I would like to just give up on the recribing, but I'm afraid that the bird will be a montonous black all over... maybe I could break it up somehow with panel lines washed with light gray

even from this distance, the panel line is visible, so maybe do the bird in a black with a teeny bit of white in it and wash it dead black?

we decided to use which ever one we felt like Big Smile [:D] on the first and second pages, there are I think around 7 or 8 different ideas. as long as it says Revell Monogram GB on it and not something like "Monkey trainer for hire", I'm fine with it

Ok, so I did some research just now and the two versions that are included in the RM kit, 17955, and 17978 (Rapid Rabit, named after the Playboy Bunny carried on its rudders most of its service) had nothing to do with drones. the 7978 bird was lost late July during a landing accident, but the right rudder of 7978 is being used as a left rudder for some other Blackbird.

I did a search for D-21 drones, but the ones included in the kit might be dif. i need to check.

so I'm halting everything going on with the drone and I'm starting the cockpit of the SR-71 now.

it turns out the one offered in the kit is a GTD-21, but I'm leaving it off, because I can't find anywhere that it was used with the 7955 or 7978. I might put it in a seperate vignette or something... but nah, I'm just gonna build the SR-71 now.

which version? I'm still trying to decide because I don't want it to be monotonous black. maybe add a couple dark grey streaks running down the front park with the chines...

I don't care for accuracy either, but I'm just trying to keep myself intact and keep from a monotonous (I think I said that work like 5 times already) scheme

Ive narrowed it down to my top three

1) Chrome Volks 2) Porche wheels 3) AVS M5

The Volks are not as wide as the other 2 so it will make fitment a bit easier. However with all 3 sets some cutting wil be involved. Im not to worried about stripping the paint.. a lil bit of brake fluid will do jsut fine haha..

I was plannin on getting the body primered today... but I think sincee I dont have work ima get out the house for a few hours.... I got a promotion at work so starting tuesday I am the new asst. manager So I should take advantage of the day off haha..

great progress! looks like I'm gonna need something more than Mr. surfacer...

does anyone know how to revive a crusty tube of putty? I got my squadron white supposedly new (still in vac packaging) but the putty is far from what putty should be like. its crusty, and it's not really wet.

 Smoke,

did you sand off or away all the panel lines? If so how long will it take you to add them?

UM.....ok.   I was just wondering.  Adding panel lines back on a plane is not my strong point at this point in my model building career. Always looking to pick up some tips

Happy New Year everyone

I have the Delta Dart Primed and the top two fusalage parts together, been reading the tips forums and I think I'm going to try the white glue gap method for the lesser gaps. The pilot and cockpit are coming along. Will post progress pics when I can.
