I wouldn't put that glob through an airbrush even if it stayed in the bottle and not on you. I have tried thinning the Glob and it ended up clogging up the ol' AB really bad.SoapBox [soapbox]. I found another bottle like that and it had to go in the trash. Shortcuts are good, but shortchanging yourself is not.Blush [:I]

What's the word on a RoG rebox of a Monogram kit? I decided to bite the bullet and start my B-36 yesterday and it looks like a simple enough build (famous last words) that I can finish it in a year even with school. The plastic still bears a Monogram copyright... I think the only difference is better decals and incomprehensible instructions. Anyway, I'd love to jump in I can.

if it still bears the Monogram stamp on the styrene parts and you post a pic of it, then you are welcome to join the build!

we could always use more participants Big Smile [:D]

I tried a new technique here. since most of the detail will be hidden by the closed canopies, I figured this could be an experiment, so I mixed up some very thin lightened black. but first, I applied metallic sharpie and then two coats of Future.

the last pic is the almost finished cockpit. in the second pit, there is that large screen thingy, so I scratched away the black and applied green with a green sharpie. the green is not opaque, so the silver sorta added to the "screenyness" of it.

More to come

Enjoy Big Smile [:D]

OK, so I just closed the fuse halves and have started squeezing the two pieces together with lotsa pressure and Tenax 7R. As a norm, I bit a chunk out of my own jugulars (before, I scalped myself and cut a chunk outta my cheek cos this kit is so... not goodish- I am enjoying the build though Big Smile [:D])

general shots of the attachment seams

huge steps in the seams... I'm trying to figure out how to do it w/o losing or covering up too much rescribed detail (that reminds me, I am going to be rescribing this birdie)

pretty big gap, but easily squeezed together

get a little artistic while at it... Big Smile [:D]

Enjoy

Nice work everyone! Big Smile [:D] I finished my F-14 for my other group builds and am about ready to jump in on this one.  I have decided to start out with finishing a project that I have been working on and off for the past several months (cars are not my forte).  Anyway here is the boxtop:

Here is my progress to date:

As you can see, the first car has a finished chasis/interior, and I have painted and sealed the body in my version of "Petty red".  I will be masking off and painting the blue next, followed by the decals and final assembly.  As you can also tell, I have not started the second car yet, so I am hoping that this group build will keep me focused on starting and finishing it.  After I finish this double car kit (or maybe on my breaks while working on it), I will start with the reissued X-15.

Also thanks for the information on adding the group badges with my signature.  This is so much easier than what I had been doing. Bow [bow]

Looks great Mr. Jin! I hate seams Angry [:(!] but you'll do fine. I've only done the base coat the cockpit of my A-10 so far. Yah, it's pretty sweet.

Welcome to the build, Scotty! Pretty nice looking car. You're going to cut out the windows, right? It kinda scares me Shock [:O]

No school, no broken bottles, clear table to work with, three group builds at the same time Cool [8D] What could be any better? Yesterday I started my seasonal job with the BIG tax prep firm, now that makes 48 hours at first job, and 24 hours at tax job, and 2 basketball games a week = 10 hours, 40 hours sleep, and 11 hours commuting, there are 168 hours in a week and I have filled 133 hours, now we have the downtime for dinner and family time and posting to the forums so that leaves approximately negative 8 hours per week to build.Boohoo [BH]Boohoo [BH]Boohoo [BH]Boohoo [BH]

BTW I was able to spend a negative 30 minutes on rescribing panel lines.

I use old sprues.  That way i'll never run out.

And a note on the build, I've decided to tackle the 1/48th A-10 Warthog.  SO if you could change it for me that would be great.

Progress Report, F-84F Thunderstreak

Instrument Panel, flat black background, dry brush silver on instruments, Future drops in instruments for glass cover

Complete cockpit on right, parts for second bird on left.  The control stick is next to the IP and the hand pumpt to the right of that.

Jato bottles and speed brakes.  I drilled out each of the 188 holes on each panel with a #76 drill bit that is .017 inch in diameter.  A #11 X-acto blade is .021 inch thick.

Pieces and parts.  I have the fuselage and wings of #1 bird painted and #2 has been primered since this photo was taken

jinithith is it alright if I change my build to a 1/48 AV-8B Harrier?

The SR-71 kinda drove me nuts with all the seams.

I give you panel scribers all the credit in the world. I have been rescribing panel lines on Delta (as I'll call her) for my very first time. I never knew that the panel lines on an F-106 resembled jigsaw puzzle pieces so much. Mine doBoohoo [BH]

And everyones painting skill is first rate, I am still using finger paints compared to everyone else in here.

But it is a joy to build such a beautiful beatie. I should have it rescribed by September, then I can get the finger paints out and go to work.

Supraman that is one big honkin' kit you got there. Big Smile [:D]It must be one of those Cowboy [C):-)]Texas U-boats. The figures are starting to look great. I'm sure that the kit will be most impressive. You probably don't have any room for it, but I do you can send it to me for display when done.Pirate [oX)] Oh and you can come visit it every leap year. Doom Grr, no one, I repeat, no one stinks, unless you don't take a shower.Dead [xx(] The thing about scale modeling is patience and practice. On the armour forum I have my first build, a Tamiya Sherman. It isn't the greatest, but It resembles one. I was thinking of fixing it, but changed my mind so I could see my progress.

TGregory, sorry mate, but I do have the room for it. A whole room for myselfBig Smile [:D]. I can't believe that the wife was so nice. I wonder what she has up her sleeve???Blindfold [X-)] You can visit it every leap year instead.

Tony, That scribe looks GOOD! Resembles my Six scribe in every way. Just take your own sweet time with. work slowly and do the best you can. I am most likely going to start rescribing the bottom half of my Six today. That will take a few days to a week for me to do but I am in no hurry.

Well Done!
