2007 Powder Puff GB-Ladies only!

Welcome aboard!  I love your avatar also.  It is just the attitude we ladies need to prove to our husbands that we can build models too.  Good luck with the Caddy and please post some progress pictures.

Hi Ladies,

 Thank you for letting me in on this build . I must admit, this is my very first model. Although I don't like to ask too many questions I do find myself asking my husband alot about models. I have started to put my Escalade together , and done a little bit of painiting. I am having fun with it (just don't let Mr Guido ) know I said so. I never thought I could get into something like this. I am the type that needs to get things done Yesterday.  When I saw that my husband and my boys were  sharing not only the same interest, but quaility time together I wanted in. It took me awhile to find the right model to build, but when I saw it...I knew it was mine.  I now find myself (in my spare time a work) looking for pearl paints , flakes and my next project.  I will keep you posted on my progress.

You are certainly welcome in FSM forum in general and this thread in particular.  We welcome all ladies to the Powder Puff Group Build as participants or men and women as interested persons to make comments, ask questions, etc.  If you have your husband Dan do the thread entries, that is fine also.  My hubby helps me a lot with my thread entries because I don't do much with computers.  Most of us ladies are beginners at modeling, so you will certainly be among peers in that respect also.  I just finished my second model a few days ago and have started on my third one.  I have made many mistakes on the first two, but I am learning and trying to do better.

Well, at least I got her to make a new account here (introduction is in the Introduction part of the forum (where else )) but she's a bit worried about being a bit rusty on the modeling skills and she fears that you ladies are going to be a lot better than she is at the moment. I told her that it's not a contest though, so let's wait and see.

However if she joins, it will be me who does the writing on her account, since she doesn't know much english.

Hehe, so he got you hooked on the hobby Same thing happened in my household about 10 years ago. There was this Tamiya motorcycle that had started but for some reason I didn't work on it anymore, one evening I came home from work and found my better half finishing the kit.  And I must add, for her very first try at modelling, she hadn't done a bad job at all.

Anyway, ladies, today, Patricia went to the hobbyshop and got herself the 1/24 Tamiya Porsche GT and the needed colors. Wether she'll join the GB or not, is still in debate, since she doesn't know much english. BTW, she used to have an account under the name of PatCooper, but that was before the new forum software, so I don't know if it's still active or not. 

I have the first step towards my F-89J, spread out the parts and start developing a plan of attack for the assembly.

Cassibill is moderator for this GB so she has final say, but the rules say any lady can join through the end of the year, so I wouldn't see any problem with your wife joining.  WELCOME.

How about establishing a screen name for her and having her post something about herself and her model.  Assuming that you are an experienced modeler, I would recommend that she pay attention to your advice.  My Hubby has been in modeling forever and has given me a lot of very good advice that has saved me a lot of hard learning making my own mistakes.

  Very nice work being done here. I have to say without a doubt this is a happy day for me. I found this GB and told my wife. Well after a great dinner we stopped at the Hobby Shop and She purchased a Revell Cadillac Escalade and a color she liked for the body to build in this GB, if it isn't to late for her to join up. She is Brand New to Model building so any advice you can pass on to her would be great ( what woman will listen to her husband hehe ).Thank you and Keep up the good Work.

Helloooooooooo!  Anybody still out there?  Is the "Force" still effective?  I haven't seen any posts to this thread for awhile and thought maybe everyone defected to the "Dark Side". 

I have just started my 1/72 F-89J Scorpion.  I took all of the pieces out of the box and matched them to the instructions.  I am developing a plan of attack as to how to start this thing.  Hubby just bought an "A" model of this plane by Hobbycraft.  He says it has some part that goes in the cockpit to protect the backseater if the canopy blows off.  My Revell kit does not have that piece.  He is going to build the A model and says I can have that part because the A didn't have it, but the J did.  It's nice to have someone around who knows all that little bitty stuff.

All you girls are doing really good. I love looking at your models. It is fun to build models. I've not been doing mine a lot because I've been at school. But I will get it done. Also I've been doing my science fair. My partner and I have been having trouble doing it. We are doing rock candy.

Sam, you do your plane any way you want to. It's yours to build. I'm proud of you for signing up here & showing your desire to build a kit.

 You probably don't know me, I been on the forum for a little while. I like checking out all the different Group Builds. This is an awesome GB and I would like to apologize to any of the ladies if I ever referred to you as buddy or dude. You are ladies and should be addressed as such. So Missy!!

Bud and Sam

This is the Italeri kit of the Republic F-84F in 1/72 scale.  The markings are for the 181 Tactical Fighter Group, 113 Tactical Fighter Squadron, the Racers, part of the Indiana Air National Guard.  I used Micro Scale decals and Model Master aerosol silver paint.  I pretty well messed up the canopy framing and a couple of other "dumb thumb" mistakes, but I am reasonably happy with it.
