1/48 Armor GB - 2007

Well, I finally stopped being lazy and uploaded some pictures of my finished Sherman. Anything suggestions for improvement would be appreciated. I also wanted to thank Lu for all the helpful comments along the way.

Mike ditto the comment on the T-34 whitewash, it looks really well done .  Also how about some more pics from different angles, I'd like to get a better look at both your kits.

On the M-10 which also looks really nice by the way , how much of the interior do you see once the kit is assembled?

Winson the Tiger looks great, I really like the weathering you've done it looks very realistic .  My only feedback would be that the commander’s hatch looks to be sitting at a gravity defying angle.  I'm not a tank expert but I think it should be all the way open or closed.

Mike, very nice looking M10. How did you find the interior detailing of the kit? The T34 winter white wash looks great, I always liked that look on armor. I have both the Tamiya & Hobbyboss kit of the T34, just can't decide which one to do first now that I finished my Sherman (pictures this weekend, I hope!)

Well-- I have my two pretty much finished.  I am adding the Panzer III to a diorama eventually as a knocked out piece with a T-34 off to the side-- so that's why it looks unfinished- it is the one in the back of the pic:

 My M10 is also completed-- but I must say I went pretty much straight OOB-- so I am really enjoying seeing Piwi take it up a couple notches from what I did-- I am also thinking of putting this into a vignette-- but at present I'm not sure where...

Hi, I would like to participate in this 1/48 Armour GB. I have a Tamiya Tiger 1 tank build for the coming local Tamiya Competition.

Will post up my build after I have upload from my cam later today or tomorrow.

Grant, I feel your pain, I've done the Tamiya T-34 as well and those hand rails were the worst part of the kit.  I ended up breaking a few as did Karl and then having to try and glue the stupid things back together .

Karl I know what you mean about forking out for some decent lights.  I use a couple of desk lamps at the moment at the results aren't great. 

A couple of guys bought along there photo setups to our last IMPS meeting and it seems so simple to do.  I am currently putting together the same rig myself so I'll take some photo's of it when it's done and post them here.

Grant, those handrails are a pain in the arse.

I broke about 4 of mine, but managed to glue 3 of them back together, resorting to wire for the last one.

Darren, I really ought to put my hand in my pocket and fork out for a couple of decent photo floods, rather than the desk lamp! 

Nothing doing on the Tiger, as currently working on a 109K 4, but maybe in the near future.....

The T-34 looks great.

I just recently started the same one.  I hope mine turns out as well.  These hand rails are driving me nuts.

Karl the T-34 looks spot on, you should really be proud of that one .

I figured that either the white balance or the lighting or a combo of both was the cause of the coloring on the vehicle, because things like that happen to me all the time.

Oh and the kitty is looking very tasty as well, looking forward to some more progress shots on that on.

Waikong, it is actually dark green, however I think my lighting set up is emphasising the yellow of the weathering powders I used for dust on the upper hull.

That, and my set up is probably producing a lot of yellow light, which doesn't help.

never thought of that,i will try that next time.

i painted the tires freehand with a brush.

i bet a sharpie would be much quicker.

Lu, the dio looks absolutely stunning, but I'd expect nothing less having seen your previous work. Truly outstanding. 

Piwi, the scratchbuilt details on your M10 look amazing, better the Eduard or Aber.

Jason, I used a similar approach to painting the wheels on Tamiya's 1/35 Panther last year. One easy way of doing the tyres is with a black sharpie, much faster than painting.

Jason, by no means did I imply your way is somehow 'wrong', just never seen it that way before. Hey, I'm always on the lookout for easier ways to the something - the easier the better. I'll be interested in your opinions after the paint job is finished whether this was good way to go.

waikong: yea,it's probably not the right way to do it but i studied the camo scheme

and i thought it would be easier to paint the camo on now rather than to wait

till i glued the wheels on because i can't rotate the wheels once i glue them it will

be a pain to paint the rubber part of the wheels.

like i said i havent built armor in a while.....lol..

sugestions are well recevied.

the fit of this kit is awsome,i also like the diecast lower hull.

i will be building more of these kits.
