Here are my options for the USN/USMC build:

Hasagawa 1/48 SBD-4

AM 1/48 SBD-3

Monagram 1/48 F-4J Showtime 100

Monagram 1/48 F-14A

What to build?  perhaps my crew mates could help out here?  What say you all?

Unfortunately for my modeling SWMBO and the kids also bought me Resident Evil 4 for the Wii which I have been playing non-stop every night this week and it's just awesome .  As you can tell from my sig I'm a little partial to zombie stuff and RE4 really fits the bill .

Darren I just checked page 1 and for some reason that I can't even remember now, I posted the first message on this thread so if you want the title changed to the USN Fleet Air Wing GB 08 - 09 then let me know and I'll edit the title on the existing thread.

Ya I know, I'm just sore because I was at the Dentist getting my teeth drilled when you went on your rampage.  I was hoping for a shot at #3000 !  Didth I Menthon my mouuthhhh is stilth frozenth!!!

Darren- Those are some PHENOMONAL builds mate!  Especially that F-14- I love that one!  WHen I am done typing this, I am gonna go back and drool over it some more.  And, great job on the badge- you got my vote!

As for the rum, I'll take two!  A bit of a rough day.  Had to spend a good amount of time at the Urgent Care getting my thumb fixed.  I tell ya, work injuries are terrible!  Prolly gonna slow down my building for a few days, but I hope to be back building this weekend!

I just went back and read the updated page 1, bloody good show!  Thank you for the promotion, woohoo!  Could you also put me down for an F4U-1D Corsair?  I will add a couple more to the list in the next week or two, I've been getting geared up for this for over a year!  In fact, I went out the other day and bought enough Gunze Navy Gray, Intermediate Blue, and Navy Blue to paint an entire Air Wing! 

Oh, and to answer your question earlier Darren, darn right there's rum on American carriers!  Yar matey!!!

I finally got my Feb '08 FSM in the mail today!  I am SOOO excited, woohoo!

Wanna hear something crazy? 

A couple of years back, I had one of my Zeroes in the reader gallery in the May 2005 issue and on the cover was an F/A-18.

This month, with the '109 in the reader gallery, it has an F-18 on the cover as well. 

And today, we kick off the FAWGB which would include the F/A -18.  Is this co-incidence, or do I need to go out and buy myself an F-18?

Frank there is no such thing as coincidence, its fate calling to you.  You need to rush out and get yourself an F/A-18 for this build .

Seriously congratulations again on making the FSM reader gallery .

Daz, can you please put me down for an Accurate Miniatures 1/48 TBF-1C Avenger in the FAWGB.

Frank, go ahead and buy the kit  New Years resolutions are meant to be broken, thats why people make them at least you tried  Next time don't make one then you will never feel bad about not keeping it

But what a real good bunch this is here. Not to imply other GB's aren't.....but this is a great comfort zone.....!

Many years ago I built 2 TBD's that came out perfectly for the times....one yellow-wing.....and one of George Gay's ship from Torpedo 8....they won a local IPMS contest as a small dio. But I'm not into contests....anyway....who needs contests anywhere else, when the best judges in the world are right here?!!?

Nam what scale and what models did you use for your TBD's and how about a couple of photos for the brag book.

All I took the liberty to have a play with the Commanders GB badge last night in order to make the text a little more readable when the badge is smaller and to reduce the overall size.

Here is the finished result which if it meets everyone's approval can be used for the build.
