Darren, nice work on the badge, Thumbs Up [tup] was going to do the same thing myself but you beat me to it.

Egads!!! Shock [:O]  I did an inventory of not only my stash but my built models and there a dearth of anything Navy in either.  So Frank... about those new years reolutions... may have to join you in the breaking of such Mischief [:-,]Evil [}:)]  I have a lot of GB on the books that I have to complete so I'll have to get back to you on what I'll be doing later on.

As for past builds I do have one USN build on the shelf (that's right... only one Shock [:O]) so I'll pull out the pics for your purusal.  1/72 Academy TBF, one of their older kits and definitely not one of their best.  Added a mix of AM decals and homemade for the markings of the TBF's at Midway.

Darson, Darson....Darson!

Oh! How I wish I had pics!

This was early-mid eighties....even before disposable cameras! I had a few 35mm pics a friend took, but they've gone the way of all things over the years. Gone!

I build almost exclusively in 1/48

But now I have the trusty digital......none shall be spared!

Razor!.....nice TBF......especially in 1/72?! Love the paint hue......looking for that effect myself!

Dave, good looking Avenger, especially from the old Academy kit.  I think this one was a redo of the even older Frog kit.  The Newer Academy 1/72 Helldiver is a Hell of a kit however.  You might want to give it a go lad.

Well gents, I am VERY proud of myself tonight!

I managed to resist the awful temtation to drive to the LHS today after work and buy that "Bug."  Not sure how long I'll be able to keep it up, though.  But, I've made it nine days without buying any models, woohoo!

Darren- I'm holding strong!  But, I don't know how much longer I can keep it up...Ashamed [*^_^*]

Excellent GB badge Darren, can't wait to add it to my board! Thumbs Up [tup]

Dave- QUICK!!!  Go out and buy yourself a couple of USN/USMC models right now!  You'll feel much better.  Very nice work on that lil' Avenger!  As big as that thing was, it probably looks like a 1/48 scale model next to some kits.

Nam- I had entertained the thought of building George Gay's Devastator for this GB, especially after buying one of the old Monogram kits with his autograph on the box.  Maybe later I will build it if I can get through a couple of others first!

I really want to build a 1/48 PBY-5A for this build, but the only place I can find one is on Ebay and they are going for more $$$ than I can afford. Disapprove [V]

OK, if it's alright with you guys here are some photos of a couple of past FAW builds of mine:

Tamiya 1/48 F4U-1A Corsair:

Tamiya 1/48 F4U-1 Corsair:

Tamiya 1/48 F4F Wildcat:

That's some fine work there Frank, I particularly like your Tamiya 1/48 F4U-1A Corsair it looks very cool with the pilot in the front seat.

Wow Frank! Damn, you do nice work!

I agree with Darson about the 1A (kit pilot? Very realistic looking!), but I love them all.....that weathering of the -1!!  I'd hate to visit wherever that thing operated from!

....and a pristene Wildcat....Nice!

Thanks Darren, I appreciate that!

I like the GB badge, but is there any way to add "USMC" to it? Confused [%-)]

Thanks a bunch Nam!  The pilot in the -1A is from the Tamiya -1D kit with the moto-tug.  He was fun to paint, and fit like a glove in there! Thumbs Up [tup]

Frank & Dave, great pics guys.

Darson, the badge looks great.

So far Darran is the only person to vote on which kit I should build.  He went for the monagram 1/48 F-4J, Showtime 100.

Anyone else?

Hey Roy,

Some know that I'm a die-hard prop guy....but I worked around F-4's for a couple years and love that a/c.

I'm with Darran.....go for the Showtime 100! I'm way back in the 1930's with the TBD.....so maybe we can fill out a nice roster of USN/USMC airplanes.

This is true, Darren.

OK nam, you can have all of your liquid cements and CA's back now. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Roy, our fearless C.A.G. seems to be on a Phantom kick (he wants an F-4B from me), so we better do as he orders. Another vote for 'Showtime'. Pirate [oX)]

I still haven't finished the Wyvern for this GB, but it's close.  Sooo, OK I'll join in the next phase with a USN Bird.  Not sure what to build, but I think something other than a WWII prop since I have so many already built.  Thinking of something from the post war era.  Kits in my stash are:

Grand Phoenix 1/48 FJ-4B Fury

Grand Phoenix 1/48 F3H-2N Demon

Trumpeter 1/72 RA-5C Vigilante

Hasegawa 1/72 KA-3B Skywarrior.

Help me decide lads.  Winner gets built Smile [:)].

All I took the liberty to have a play with the Commanders GB badge last night in order to make the text a little more readable when the badge is smaller and to reduce the overall size.

Here is the finished result which if it meets everyone's approval can be used for the build.

A-ten-shun!!!

Admiral on deck.  Welcome aboard Admiral Rick (sorry, don't know your last name so it has to be "Admiral Rick"!)  My vote from your stash is the 1/72 Vigilante.  I love the lines of that aircraft, very Valkyrie-like!

Capt. Roy- my vote from your stash is the 1/48 Hasegawa SBD-4 (This way, I can see how their kit goes together as compared to the AM I am building!)

Dave and Darren- Thanks lads!  I am glad you like them.  Darren, I'd be happy to give you some pointers, but just remember- I screwed up the last Corsair I tried to build! Sigh [sigh]

I've had that kit on my list for awhile Rick, it just might have to move up to the top.  I especially like the fact that it has markings for an Atlantic scheme aircraft! Big Smile [:D]Propeller [8-]

Roy make that another vote for Showtime 100

Rick (Sir) my vote from your stash would go to the Grand Phoenix 1/48 FJ-4B Fury.  By all account one of the best fighters employed by the USN or USMC post war to Vietnam.  All it really lacked was an afterburner.

Cheers
