Dave, I check with Eduard's and great Models Webstore and They do carry the very cool and detailed PE set for this one, a must haveTongue [:P]  Plus it has new parts for the exhaust that makes it really pop.

Cool Roy, thanks for the tip on the PE.  Looks like a really nice set.

As for the cold and snow I've had more than enough of it this year.  I'd be more than happy to send some your way if you like.  Actually, helping you pack the truck in Florida sounds like a really, really, really good idea right about now.  Just have to figure out how to sell it to the wife. Sounds good to me, as long as there's no freakin' snow there!  Just got in from snowblowing last night's powder.  We got about 6 inches so far, and another 10 on the way today.  Luckily, work called and we are closed today so that means a day of snow removal and models! Party [party]

Here, thought you fellas might need a lil' coffee this morning after last night's party

Nam- Thanks buddy, can't wait for a couple days off.  We had almost two feet of snow yesterday, and I spent the entire day outside running the damned snowblower.  Got up at 5 am this morning to do it again, then worked a 12 hour shift.  In the words of the CAG, I'm cream-knackered and headed off to bed.

Zzz [zzz]

Cheers!

Also I need some help with the torpedoes.  What are the colors on FAA torpedoes in the 1950's?  I can't find anything on the internet to provide any guidance.

I'll drink to that.  After a grueling couple of weeks at work and snow removal I am off for the next three days.  Looking forward to LOTS of bench time! Tongue [:P]

dcaponeII- Looking good there!  Sorry, I really don't know anything about torpedo colors.

Nice job of folding the wings.  Not sure, but I think the Torpedos were dark gray.  I know the bombs & missles were Dark Green, but I don't think that applies for the Torps.

It was the eyes and ears of the British fleet for more than 20 years according to the stuff I've been reading.  They used to make it wear a bag over itself at parties though so as to not scare the other guests.  Talk about the elephant man (I mean plane)  I just trying to get it finished now.  More of a challenge at this point to do it right but I've got no emotional tie to the aircraft itself so it's been rather unexciting project for me.

I'm building an F2A-2 Yellow wings NEXT   YIPPEE!!!

Looks pretty good dcaponell.  The paint looks a little rough in spots & it would have benefited from a wash to pop out some of the detail, but overall not bad.

Donald I'm not seeing anything in your "Here's the finished beast post" not even a red X.

All, I was having a little look last night at some pics of the upcoming releases announced at the Nuremberg Toy Fair and some of my favs would have to be

The Trumpeter 1/48 Sea Fury

http://data4.primeportal.net/models/thomas_voigt2/trumpeter/images/trumpeter_15_of_25.jpg

As well as the Special Hobby Sea Harrier FRS.2 in 1/72.

Cheers

I agree, but I haven't quite gotten that far yet.  In 1/48 I'd use a soft mechanical pencil to bring out the panel lines instead of a wash but I'm still debating wether or not I can pull that off in 1/72 scale.  I also have not applied an exhaust staining either.

I did manage to apply a little wear around the canopies and hinge lines, etc.  I got a good compliment at the club today for one of the guys into British planes (he took a first at Nationals in one of the categories) so I know I'm on the right track.  It ususally takes me two of three weeks from this point to fiddle my way to a finished product.

Any suggestions regarding wash/stenciling will be appreciated.  I haven't done much to the underside either wrt weathering and oil stains/streaks etc.
