Hello lads!

Something close to my heart................Approve [^]A Spitfire in FAA markings!!!

Here is what I've done so far to my 1/32 Supermarine Seafire Mk.Ib.........

Here's the I/P.........this includes a nice little strach-built compass as well, Eduard provide the bracket, I made the compass from spares.

This is the seat assembley................

Here is the stick......kit part modded with some P/E

Here are the side walls, mostly modded with help from Eduard...........

Some pics of the 'pit.............

Here is the Revell tailwheel, it come in three parts and its loaded with flash. When you clean it up it looks too thin and devoid of any detail, so I have loaded it with filler and will get back to it when time allows. As you can see, its not great......

Well, thats it for now, I'll be back after my next set of shifts.

Until then........Pirate [oX)]Make a Toast [#toast]

Don-

Looking good, sounds like you have a sound plan on your weathering.

Darren-

Nice work on the office!  That seat really looks the part-excellent job old chap!

I also see what you mean about the tailwheel.  Looks a little flat and two dimensional.

Sorry to hear your leave is at it's end.  I have one more day off and then it's back to the grind!

***Sign - Off Topic!! [#offtopic] ALERT***

I was just telling Nam about this, but thought I would share.

We've had a really cold and snowy couple of weeks, with snow coming in about every other day (20+ inches last Wednesday alone!) and awfully cold temps.  It will warm up to 15 or 20 degrees then snow and then the temps drop again below zero with wind chills between -25 and -40 degrees.  BRRR!!!  The cold has been knocking the power out too, always at inopportune times like Sundays, middle of the night, etc.  Well, tonight I just got my power back on after it went out (again!).  The last time the temps dropped like this on a Sunday night it went out for a few hours as well.  Dang, it was cold!

But, guess what?  It wasn't the cold this time...

One of my idiot neighbors drove his car right through his garage and out into his back yard.  The meter was laying on the hood of his car so it took the utilities a while to come and fix it.  A fireman came and told me that he was trying to get a run at backing up his driveway.  When he couldn't make it, he decided to try to pull back into the garage and get a run at it.  Well, while pulling into his garage he missed the brake pedal and hit the accelerator.  WHAM!!!  Drove right through his garage wall and into the snowbank in his backyard. Dunce [D)]

I tell ya, it's always something...

Sorry for the Sign - Off Topic!! [#offtopic] dribble, we return now to our regular programming... Blush [:I]

Lol Frank!  I know it's not funny when you are cold but it's just one of those things that hopefully you can laugh at after.

Someone once drove into the transformer in the back lane at my old house and knocked out the power on the whole street in the middle of winter.  I thought no problem, I have a gas fireplace that I can fire up without the elctricity so I fired it up only to relize that one(or more?) of my kids had stuffed plastic toys into the vents.  One toxic cloud of burnt plastic later we went out for the rest of the day until they got the power back on. Whistling [:-^]

Anyway, hope things get better Frank and that floods won't be a problem in the spring!Shock [:O]

Frank I can kind of relate to your story as my Mum did a similar thing years ago pulling in to the garage at my parent's house.  It was a case of went for the brake pedal and slammed the accelerator instead and well you know happened next Shock [:O].  Needless to say my Dad was less than impressed.

Darren the front office on you Seafire looks fantastic (As your work normally does), I'll be looking forward to more updates on the build.

All, I was reading through another webzine yesterday when I spotted a review for the Eduard F6F-3 Hellcat that I have on order at the moment.  All I can say is that after reading through the review I am really looking forward to getting this kit.

Thanks for the compliment on the Gannet.  I'm bringing it to San Antonio this weekend.  Hopefully it will do well.  This will be mt first serious entry in 1/72 scale.

Hmmmm things seem to be a little quiet around here at the moment.

I've been doing some research on the FJ-4 over the last couple of days and I've found that I'll need to do a small amount of scratch building with my kit as there needs to be some equipment mounted in the back of the canopy that sits flush with the bang seat when the canopy is closed and this is missing from the kit.

The Sea Hawk is coming along nicely again when last night I was able to get some bench time and drill out the canon openings and put some styrene rod in there.

Cheers

Hey everyone-

I forgot to share this with you, these are from the show I went to down south a while back. I picked up some very nice stuff! Amoung which were my 1/72 Mk.8 Lynx(-this one will be done in the HMS Endurance shceme) A 1/48 Fairy Firefly...this box is loaded with plastic, brass and resin!!!Tongue [:P] I am going to have sooooooo much fun with this kit!!

And I also got the  1/72 new mould Wessex! There are markings included in the box for "Humphrey" The famous Wessex that saw action during the Falklands War. The Wessex has a special place in my heart and I have always wanted to build one, so my mate saw this kit at the show and bought it for me-what a bloody good bloke!!Approve [^]

Needless to say, I was very pleased with my haul!!

Here is a progress report on my Seafire......

First, let me tell you that this kit is overflowing with flash and nothing fits properly.

Second, I'm really enjoying myself!! This build is just a blast!

Here is where I'm at. I eventually got the modified 'pit into the fuselage and slapped the wings together.

You have to fit the undercarrigde before you fit the wings....Disapprove [V] but this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but the rudder and elevators are all attached via hinges as the landing gear is.......I have to fill and sand all the hinges in order to try and make this model look more realistic......this is no shake'n bake kit!

Here is how she looks now....

Yes, cheers everyone!  I am working this weekend, but spoke with Roy yesterday and am really hoping to get to meet him tomorrow.  He is passing through Chicago this weekend on his way back to Wyoming from Florida and I am only a couple of hours from there.  He said he was hoping to swing up my way tomorrow and stop in where I work and have lunch.  Boy, I am really excited to (hopefully) get to meet some of you fellas!

Well, I got to meet Roy and his wonderful family today for lunch!  They stopped by where I work, and I was able to show them around and also do a little maintenance on their rings and shine them up like new.  What a cheerful fellow!  I really enjoyed meeting them, and his wife Inge and son Alex were very nice.  Just to prove it, here's Roy and I standing inside the store with my workshop behind us:

And yes Nam, I told him you said "hello!"

I tried to get Roy to stick around until tomorrow night so he could help me shovel, but surprisingly he wanted to hit the road! Confused [%-)]
