Thanks Nam, I told him as long as he had driven up I could at least fix up their rings while they were there.  What a wonderful family they are!  His wife was very nice and their son was one of the most well-behaved kids I have ever met.  Truly blessed he is!

As for the goggles, it is probably one of the few of me without them!  Wouldn't it have been hilarious if when taking them off my eyes were still HUGE? Laugh [(-D]

Hey lads,

its great to see the two of you meet up! Glad you had a good day.Approve [^]Thumbs Up [tup]

My weekend has been eventful too, I had an accident at home and nearly lost my right eye! I was gardening and went to lift a box of bamboo canes and one of them went straight into my right eye when I bent down to pick them up....OUCH!!Boohoo [BH]

It stung a bit and as I made my way into the house my son the state of me and called my wife. Lucky thing for me she is an Emergency Room Nurse! I ended up in E/R and by then I was in a fair bit of pain. The guys there went to work on me straight away and did what they had to do. It was messy and painful, but they saved my eyesight. The bandage came off this morning, and my eye was working just fine. I am so blessed. The doctor who worked on me said that I was incredibly lucky......I could has been blinded if the cut on my eyeball was 2mm lower..........................thank God I've still got my sight.

I don't mind telling you lads I was pretty scared for a while there. Needless to say, I am taking things easy this weekend. The eye hurts when it moves so the bandage stays on for another couple of days. I have to squirt anti-biotic in there 4 times a day and it stings like a Censored [censored]Censored [censored]Censored [censored] but its a small price to pay for my health.

I owe those lads in the E/R more than a drink. 'Nuff said.

OMG Darren! Shock [:O]  You are a very lucky man.  Eye injuries are awful, but I have never had one as bad as yours.  And, I never realized gardening could be so dangerous!

Take care of yourself my friend!

Darren,

Glad you are able to keep your sense of humor about it.  I was gonna say in my last post, but decided against it as I wasn't sure how you were feeling about it, that with your eye patch you just look more like a Pirate [oX)].  Glad it is only temporary!

We're getting our backsides kicked again today with snow, only it was freezing rain for about 6 hours first.  Now, we're supposed to get 8-15 inches of snow on top of it then the temp will plummet and the winds are supposed to pick up to 30mph + and create blizzard like conditions.  Think I may have to give up modelling as it interferes with all of the snowblowing! Sigh [sigh]

LOL!  That's awesome!  Just don't go out and lose a leg so you can walk around with a peg leg! Dunce [D)]  It has been an awful winter here.  The reports say that we have been hitting record snowfalls, with 75-80 inches from one super-storm alone.  Though, not all in the same day.  It just keeps circling overhead and dropping 3-12 every couple of days.  I sure am glad Roy left here yesterday before it struck again!

Good Lord, Darren!!! Shock [:O] Ya gotta take special care of those peepers. I am very, very relieved that the damage wasn't too severe or permanent. Of all my senses, sight is the one I know I could least do without. Glad to hear you're on the mend, my friend! Thumbs Up [tup] ...and kudos to your wife to being Johnny-on-the-spot and knowing exactly what to do. Don't even want to think about something like that happening with nobody else around. Scary stuff to say the least.

...and Frank, if you miss those mild winters, you gotta move up here buddy! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] Actually, yours sounds a lot like the norm for up here, but this one's been a fairly easy one so far.

Darren, glad to hear your eye survived the ordeal and that all will be well again soon!  I'll stay well away from the bamboo from now on when it warms up enough to get out into the garden again which will be soon if our weather keeps up as it has.

Frank, I don't envy you and your snowblower.  Had too many seasons like that in Winnipeg during th 40 odd years that I lived there.  Yuck [yuck]  Glad that you and Roy managed to hook up on his drive through.  Nice to see what you look like with out the big eyes too!

Thanks Dave.  I think my Lady is beginning to get jealous about all of the "quality time" I am spending with Charlene (my snowblower).  Egads!  I think I just cracked, now I call my snowblower by name!  Better have a couple of rums to settle back down...

Frank after moving back to my 'home' State of CT from many years in the great southwest...was thinking....maybe I'll get a couple 'snow days' off from work.....especially after delving back into modeling now. One lousy 'snow day' so far. I want to  move to south central Wisconsin!

But, alas......I must work, and I don't want to be hanging ductwork in that climate.

Nam,

Hanging ductwork would be murder here this time of year!  yesterday it was 35 and raining until the snow started.  Tonight, a "dangerous wind chill advisory" was issued because the temps are supposed to dip to -30 degrees.  Yikes! Shock [:O]

Yep.....that's the trouble with installing heating/cooling systems in new construction.........there is no heat in winter until we put it in, but then we leave!

No A/C in warm weather until we put it in, but then we leave!

We don't get to enjoy either one!

Jesus Darren I just read through the last page and ouch.  I'm glad to hear you're OK now but boy I winced just reading the story of how you poked yourself in the eyeball. I cannot imagine how that must have felt, man that makes me shiver just thinking about it Black Eye [B)].  Take care of yourself and heal up OK.

On a brighter note I picked up the Xtrakit's 1/72 Canberra PR.9 the other day and I must say it's a really nice kit for a limited run job, full credit to Hannants for a great job.

Cheers

Guys......I am so fed up.Sad [:(] I woke up this morning with a sore throat-then it just got worse, tried to eat breakfast and started choking! It turns out that I have had a reaction to the eye medication and the flappy part at the back of my tongue has swelled up to the point where I cannot eat!!

I went to the doctor and he has issued me more meds for the swelling, its still painful and I am exhaused because the anti-allergy pills make me sleep. Tired, sore and miserable......I am feeling sorry for myself today.Disapprove [V] They have told me if the swelling gets any worse I'll have to go stright to hospital. Sigh [sigh]

I'll be glad when this is over...........they won't let me touch any rum!Pirate [oX)]Mischief [:-,]

Been there myself, Darren, as far as the throat thing goes. Summer of '84 (aka the Summer from Hell) .... was on meds to reduce the swelling of a severe ankle fracture so I could wear a walking cast. My system got run down from them and I contacted Mono (origionally diagnosed as Strep...incorrectly). The back of my throat swelled so bad I could not eat anything...even drinking was a major feat. In two months I lost over 30 lbs in weight and my left leg atrophied to where it was about 2/3's the size of my right leg..... and this was all in the midst of a 10-yr period where I was not doing anything with the hobby. Talk about bored!

Sorry for moaning yesterday....just needed to let off a little steam.

Mike, what you went through sounds awful-you have my sympathies mate. Glad you came out the other side OK.

I am in better mood today as the painkillers are starting to kick in.......my doctor says my throat should improve within 5-7 days. I am starving! Its amazing how much one starts to think about food when one cannot eat any!!

No worries Darren, completely understandable!  I had a serious problem with some prescribed antibiotics last August, and although the worst of it healed up within a couple of months, I am still fighting some of the issues today.  Hopefully soon will be back to 100%, or at least as close as I ever was. Confused [%-)]
