Though being beaten my native women while wearing a kilt- it kinda sounds like fun!Big Smile [:D]

Hello all,

Just wondering if I could join the group build.

I am currently in Okinawa, Japan and stopped by the LHS and found a Hasegawa F-14a Low Vis kit in 1/72. I haven't done an aircraft model in years, have been painting 40K figs. But I need to teach myself how to model & paint again. I recently destroyed my elbow on my writing hand, and am going to use this as therapy. This kit will basically be OOB with a few mods to the poor cockpit.

Thanks, Evil

Well, now we have Telford out of the way and I seem to have recovered almost intact I can get to some modeling for relaxation. I have made a small bit of progress on the P38 SeaLightning. namely doing the drawings for the conversion and sanding all the rivets off this Airfix oldie (iirc the P38 was flush riveted anyway???) I have drawn the lines for the wing fold on and the next job will be to search my spares for the arrestor hook. Piccies will follow when there's something interesting to report.

All the best.

Greg

Roy,

If you run and swim as well, they run a pretty nice triathlon in Penticton (Ironman length, though they may do shorter support races).  Thought about doing it when I was in college, realized two things wasn't in shape enough at the time and it was about a three week trip if I drove from Dallas.  Couldn't afford to miss work for three weeks either then or now.

I use both cast and fly fishing.  I love monster troutBig Smile [:D]  or just a nice good looking fish.  I pay $1.41 per gal. here in Cheyenne.

I've been checking out the P-47 and I have to say that the Tamiya is a step up from the Academy kit to include priceWink [;)]  For 1/72 there is a lot in it.

No worries Roy.  I lived in the States (Detroit and Chicago) for a couple of years and was amazed at how many people had a) never heard of Winnipeg (which is where I am from originally) and b) had no idea where it was.  Considering it is a city of 700,000 people I was shocked.

The Canadian dollar has really tanked along with the falling oil prices so if it stays that way Canada will definitely give you more bang for your buck on the holidays.  And yes... we have fish... big fish...  Fish that are thiiiiiiisssss big. Wink [;)]

Hi all.

Looooong time since I last posted, I've been insanely busy with work these last few months with reduced staff and increased responsibilities.  Anyway, I hope everyone has been well.

Over the past couple of months I've still been plugging away at the F-14, unfortunately I'm not writing to post pics of a finnished product. I'm declaring a failed build, final straw that broke the camel's back was the black ink wash pooling and drying before I could get it mopped up.  In truth I'd been getting less and less happy with how the model was going to turn out due to errors that I had made, so when I saw ugly rings of black all over the white undersides I decided it truly was time to put the old girl out of her misery.  So I'll start looking to move onto my next build with a number of valuable lessons learned, and will search out another 1/72 Tomcat to add to the stash once the bitter memories fade.  :)

Sorry for the negative post ... I hope everyone else's builds have worked out better.

Sorry to here that.  Your not the first or the last to convert a build into spare parts.  As long as you learned something, it's all good.

Roy, that's awesome that your wife would give you a kit when it's not your birthday or Christmas.  She's a keeper!!!  ...but I guess you figured that out already! Wink [;)]

Now... about that P-40!!!  Sure hope you don't crack open that P-47 before the P-40 is done... Right!?!Mischief [:-,]

Certainly good advice on your LHSs activity! This one seems to be pretty busy. But the one in Anaheim I originally bought most of them from was more about cars- very little interest it seems when it came to aircraft and military models. I'm guessing they mighta been old paint to begin with...

Warmest regards,

Roger
