We still don't have our tree up either. It is kinda become a tradition in our family to wait to put it up right before Christmas and then try to get it put away again by the 4th of July. Sign - Dots [#dots]

I tell ya, Roy! I'm gonna need to find local supplies of PE and AM parts. As it stands now, I've got none in any of my stash. But I do wanna give em a shot here at some point!

But then again, it's probably in my best interest to build on the basic skills first! Blush [:I]

Roger, the cockpit looks great.  As for the PE, just get a set to match a kit in your stash and go for it.  I've done 1/72 & 1/48 and it's not hard at all.  Just use CA.

Herc, the seats are looking great also.

Well here are my seats for my F-14. the seats where plain & the cockpit has decals for the instrumentsBanged Head [banghead]. I added wire O-$#!t handles & tape seat belts. I don't think i did to bad, but i will let ya'll judge.

Thanks, guys! I'm really enjoying this one- I get excited just imagining it sitting on the shelf!Big Smile [:D]

Never had any experience with the photo etched stuff. I just saw the IP decals, and couldn't figure out why they would include those on a build that had raised details and texture on an IP. But then given my experience and time apart from the hobby in the past, I'm pretty ignorant on alotta thingsBlush [:I]

Well guys? After 3 whole days off, I've gotten some progress on the Super Hornet! So far, I've got completion of the IP and cockpit area. Here's what I got...

Still working on getting the detailing down on the finer details such as guages and switches. But I do have to say that I'm liking the detailing on the ejection seat- Still needs work, I know. But it's better than I'd done before, so I'm happy with that!

My favorite part so far was the screens on the IP. Just on kinda a whim, I put in a drop of British Green Metallic (FS# unknown) on each of the screen surfaces. Not sure why I had it in my inventory, but I figured "why not". And I really liked the results! It may not be quite as obvious in the digital picture, but at least in person, it really has that appearance of a turned off monitor to me! I think I really just didn't want to mess with the IP decals...Blush [:I]

Only thing I didn't car for was the ejection handle. Had a hard time trying to get in the yellow/black striped pattern on something that small. I may go back and try to redo it, but I'm not sure. Right now, I'm thinking of a canopy closed design. But we will see how that goes, I guess.

All in all, A good weekend, I think! Looking forward to the rest of the build! I'll keep y'all posted on progressPirate [oX)]

Roger,

That's what the prepainted photo etch is for!  Good job on the pit.
