I'll interject here on the wheels since she is yelling at me.  Any hot surface will do but I prefere a non-stick iron as you don't cook food on it. The iron is hot but not burning. It simple melts and flattons the tires. How hard /slow you push determines the bulge. ( no pun intended)

There is no gooey melting and nothing sticks so no mess and you can make a weighted tire easily this way.

The wildcat has been receiving small additions to the original 1969 mold. Yep 1969 new I liked this kit. Has things molded on like 1969 china right on the fuselage under the wing and part numbers on places that show.( not anymore)  The wheels had some inaccurate raised tread that were sanded off smooth and deteails are being added. Valve holes / brake lines and pads. Extc.

The gunsite and pit was also reworked a little. Solid one piece site changed to a 5 piece scratched one. Nothing to big but looks better.

Wow looks like she even added stuff to the engine! Pretty spectacular stuff there sweetie! Wink [;)]

Oh yeah make sure to wash all parts before use!

I concur with the signs- I think that it's probably Croation, or at least some sort of Eastern European language. What I really want to know is what that Latin Text is above the Templar Cross in the first picture, Bill. Did anyone ever give you a translation on that?

Roger

Nam!!!!!!!!Shock [:O] 14 Mickey Mantle cards!!!!!!!!!! OMG! I knew a guy in Georgia that I found out was an orphan through an article in the local paper when I lived there. The article read on to say that while he was living in an orphanage in New York I believe it was, the donations of clothes given to them came from all places and some of the stuff was donated by sports teams. He found a baseball jersey in the piles and kept it. Years later he was going through old clothes  and was throwing out things. He pulled out that jersey and had a closer look at it and it was actually initialed by the player that wore it. He went and had it appraised at a 6 digit figure and quickly put it in a sealed safety deposit box. The name on the back of the jersey.......MANTLE! This guy is a master auto body man. Does very fine restorations and specialized in 'Vettes. Very, very nice humble man. Really genuine.

I still have some of the original Tonka's at my parent's place that were handed down from my sister, to my brother than to me. One of them is a coppery colored pick up. the wheels are a bit wobbly and the paint's chipped in places, but it still rolls. Of course it's not child safety compliant by today's standards, but it's irreplaceable!

Sorry to ramble but had to share.Wink [;)]

The signs look Croation.  I always thought it was cool that you could sit on a stone bench that was new 200 years before Columbus sailed the blue ocean.

They were, acually. It happens that according to Legend/lore, King Philip IV of France sent out letters to all the Monarchs across Europe to be opened on the Friday the 13th in 1307 which ordered the torture and death of the Templar Knights; not the Catholic Church. Supposedly the King was deeply in debt to the Knights for the war with England, and it was preferable to kill them than settle his debts. Consequently, this is why Friday the 13th is the unluckiest day of the year. Of course, satanic worship and heresy was the official justification, but whether there was any truth to the legend/lore is strictly conjecture. The Templar Knights were indeed closely connected to the Catholic Church and if I remember correctly, They were the ones who led the First Crusade to rescue the Holy Land from the Muslims and commissioned and endorsed by the Vatican.

Of course there are other legends an myths that are widespread today popularized my books and movies. So I can't be entirely sure what all I've said is factual or not. But this is merely what i've read. But many of the influences of the Templar Knights are widespread even today. One might evn say they were the original Renaissance Men, before there even was a renaissanceBlush [:I]

Ciao friends

Wow! Looks like I was way off! I should have known better though- that building looks to be about the same era built as the barracks I lived in while stationed in Germany (ours were build in the 30s under the 3rd Reich). That actually makes more sense.

But, now your really whetted my appetite, Bill! The Templars are fascinating to me as well. Now you got me salivating over the next installment!Wink [;)]

She threw all my stuff away.. a few years ago Mac looked for stuff on Ebay and was able to replace some of the things I had as a kid.   :)  It was cool to get to see them again as an adult.  Lots of cheesy stuff too from the 70's. I did get replacements for my Hardy Boys dolls :) but not my model van and the lunch box LOL
