I have been working on my FAA Seafire Mk.Ib this afternoon and I have now got some decals on this thing! Its not the best kit or in fact one of my better builds either-but to me, it looks good!

I have an idea for a display base and I've hit upon a snag.......I need a RAF/FAA pilot figure in a standing pose.....in 1/32 scale. I've looked all over on my side of the pond with no joy.Boohoo [BH]

Any of you chaps know where I could get one?

Corsair's looking real good Frank, and you're off to a fine start on the scooter. I really admire your attention to detail and accuracy, too! Keep us posted buddy! Thumbs Up [tup]

Thank you very much kilo!  Yes, both are 1/48 scale. Thumbs Up [tup]

I sprayed a couple of coats of Future on the Corsair last night, hoping to put some decals on her in a couple of days. Big Smile [:D]

Hi all.

I go away for a few hours to sleep and do some of my actual paid work, and you all start posting!  That'll serve me right for living on the bottom end of the world, won't it!  LOL

Thanks all for the thumbs up on the somewhat more aeroplane-ish looking thing that I'm putting together.  Smile [:)]

Going to try and get a little more of it done tonight after work, which should have the cockpit portion complete, then it's off to the next sub-assembly (engine intakes and compressor section ... remind me again why I re-joined this hobby??  LOL  J/K).

Tango, good to know someone else that has built the kit that I'm doing, at least now if I hit any frustrating bits I have someone to ask/commiserate with.  Smile [:)]

Call me crazy but I'm actually thinking of ordering another one from your part of the world so I can do a low-viz Tomcat at some point in the future.  And better you than me with regards to your job fulla, stay safe at work.

Daywalker, the Corsair-ish blob looks to be coming along nicely dude, not very blobby far more like a Corsair ... but then I guess that's the aim you were going for. Wink [;)]  As for the Scooter front leg, you patience must know no bounds man, impressive, I can only assume that they are both 1/48 scale? Bow [bow]

Chaos, panic, disorder ... my work here is done.

Here's a photo of the nose gear on my scooter.  Hasegawa has two little "nubs" on the gear where there should be tie-dwon loops.  I CAREFULLY removed them (there is detail around them) and drilled .5mm holes and replaced them with fine wire.  If you decide to go this route, notice that the tie-downs are not symetrical.  The port side one faces directly left, and the starboard one faces halfway between forward and right.  The one on the back wasn't molded on but I saw it in a reference photo so I added it to. Thumbs Up [tup]

Just curious!

Sounds like you're making lots of progress Darren.  Your secret Lockheed project has me quite intrigued- can't wait to see what it is!  And as for the vacuform canopy, they can really be a bugger to work with.  I have only done one in the past (on the Seafire) and trimming it was stressful.  Masking was no walk in the park either!

I worked on the Skyhawk some more last night, trimming the little "nubs" that are supposed to be the tie-down points off of the nose gear and replacing them with loops of fine wire.  I'll post pics later! Big Smile [:D]

Quick sit-rep from me....

1.Seafire Mk.Ib-Glossed and painting of the undercart is being done today. Canpoy to be dipped in future.

2.F-8 Crusader-Pit done and weathered.  Pilot figure assembled and primed. Intake trunking/other internals painted.

3.Hurricane Mk.I-Very nearly done now. I'm having some trouble masking the vac-form canopy as I have found the material to be very flexible. That mixed with my lack of skill has taken me more time than usual. To remedy the problem, I am masking/painting one frame at a time. Its a PITA but it'll be worth it.

4.My secret Lockheed GB project.......you'll just have to wait a bit longer.Wink [;)]
