Aaron- Funny you mention those... all of my references either don't say what they are, or the one I use most says they "are believed to be oil drains".

Access plugs for service, the center oneopens up to a Bore Sight mount.

Thanks Darren, will take warning in heed! Honestly what you describe sounds like a large old 1/72 Airfix kit. I am not one to bypass a kit because of difficulty or ill-fitting parts, it's a challenge to make the best of said defects!!! Not to mention the fact that the decals are of the mig killer and want to have a go!!! LOL Love the story of this plane!! Nth Korean jet jocks got cocky and learned the hard way!Mischief [:-,] You do not mess with fast prop fighters that pack a punch!!

Aaron, that does look much better!!! Much, much better than the kit raised panel line exhaust facscimiles I remember. Harv, thanks for the info on those other circular bits!!!!!! Often wondered!

it has some great ideas & tips to improve the Revell 1/32 Corsair.

If I were to have made a WA guess, I would have said red/yellow/green landing recognition lights, but aren't those out on the wings? What I don't know about Corsairs is a lot, except for this kind:

Sean, I have googling for the last hour trying to find the proof. I used to have a black & white pic that showed them with a discription. I cleaned out some of my photo bucket awhile ago, and that was one I got rid of. Go figure!I believe 1 or 2 were for the hyd. and the other for the fuel syst. I love my "monsters"!!...............Harv

Nice picture of the "hoodlums"  How unusual for the two to be together and sharing.

That is what I enjoy the most about where I live. Last summer the Wife and I woke up to some noise and three raccoon kits were playing in the flower box off our window.

They really like to raid our bird feeders, never bother the trash as they eat the fruit and berries that grow here instead.

Well I am still doing what I can to the Corsair in between work and sleep. I didn't have time to post an update lastnight before work so here is the little bit I got done yesterday.

I completely reworked the cooling louvers and intake thingie? They were a solid piece of plastic and I added a bit to them.

Another small improvement on a very visable area.

Now I had a bit of a dilema. The Folding wing mechanism or feature is aweful. I mentioned to Sean that even the New Trumpeter kit stinks in that feature.  It leaves gaps and is fragile and really messes with the look of the wing.

I decided to not use it and make the wings no move. However the pieces made the most excellent shaped walls for scratching wheel wells that are not there!

Tweaking this kit that has been around nearly 40 years (wow)  is not new. Here are two links of some fine modelers that have done it!

http://www.largescaleplanes.com/articles/ScottMurphy/F4U_Corsair/F4UCorsair.html

http://www.modelingmadness.com/reviews/allies/us/jbakerf4u.htm

Good stuff and great ideas there. I use them as a ref in my work!

Still have to really detail the wheel wells. Hopefully later today after a nap. I can tell I need some sleep now cuz I'm seeing strange stuff.

What a Great thing you did by posting those links, with some looking around I found a wealth of information for the  Top Secret  project # 2 Thumbs Up [tup]

Signal to the bridge from the fore decks! CAG a clarification please- will RAF Coastal Command conform to the Fleets directive for the upcoming FAA II GB? I've got a gaggle of subjects, and as this is the "year of the stash" at Bondoland, beggin' yer pardon that would be right wit' me.

Aaron nicely done sir! Doesn't that stinker have workable landing gear?

Aaron, that is looking great man!!!! It's really looking much better than if it was done out of the box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad to see you putting the effort into an old fave!!!Approve [^] Thanks for the links as well!!!!!! I looked at Scott Murphy's link and straight away, as nice as it is, the scratched fins in the wing root ducts are going the wrong way!!!!! They are supposed to be directing the inrushing air towards the supercharger and carbuerator, which is the other way, not towards the tip!!!!!

I have got a bit of progress on the 'bag last night. Got a coat of primer/ defect detector on the fish for it. Lil bit of work to smooth out a lil slight mismatch at the tail and then the PE props and fins go on. Progress pics at long last will be coming shortly. Stay tuned!!!!

Operation -Pepsi ~ Coke Challenge  is underway Captain [4:-)]

While the rest of you rum~guzzlers are on R&R  Aaron & I are working on our Top Secret  projects.  This has nothing to do with softdrinks nor are we challenging each other except to take a less the desirable  kit and build it to todays standards via aftermarket and good old scratchbuilding. Aaron is fast out of the gate and has a Terrific Start on code name Coke.

I have started on the firewall of code name  Pepsi  Still have to add the wires and hoses. Spent most of the morning making tanks out of brass.

Pepsi 2 Anybody recognize this kit ? With the engine brackets checking clearance.

Pepsi 1

C.A.G. - I hope you dont mind the distraction untill we get started on out FAA builds.

Added some plumbing and wires. Did not get too crazy as that big Allison will hide most of everything.

Thanks Dave , the filler cap is a piece of scrap I cut off some time back that fell down on the floor. I remembered it and the search was on, with a saddle filed in it fit right in place.

Well the Allison may not be resin, but I am giving it the best I can. All the white area is styrene that I cut to fill in open areas. Got one side of the plugs wired in. The feeder cable will come from the firewall once the engine is in the mounts.  I am Having Fun with this one
