started this kit back in 1998 before I moved to California.  Al that there is to do is attach the clear part and the drop tank.  I have already applied a flat clear coat but I was thinking can I apply a gloss coat over that?  I want to try some of the weather techniques I learned from you guys.  Of course it most likely will have to wait till after the move.  It's a Mauve 1/48 P-40N, the one with the large hawk on the nose.  It has a True Details resin cockpit.  It is a very good kit, very little if any filling.

That's the plan at least.  By the way I have yet to post some pics of the P-40N I told you about.

Which P-40N are you working on?  I have a Hasegawa P-40E about half finished, just needed to take a break from it after all of the filling and sanding.

Thanks again Roy!

Your plan about the move sounds the same as mine- have everything ready on the Corsair up to the paint stage, so when you get all moved you can start on the fun stuff, painting!

Mike and Frank, you will be glad to hear that I work a bit on my Corsair.  I had some free time away from getting ready for the big move.  I cleaned up the resin cockpit set and some parts of the Corsair.  My plan is that when I'm set up in Florida all that's left it to paint, glue, paint and decal Big Smile [:D] Oh, and of course post pics

Thank you very much Frank.  Speaking of those who served how many of us have been or still in the military?  For myself I spent 12 years in the military.  Outside of my meeting my wife and the birth of my son it was the best time of my life.  The best unit I served with was the 187th Infantry regiment of the 101st, I was an infantryman.  My model build was on hold during that time and I didn't get back into it until college.

Roy-

Count me in on the Secret Santa idea, and the 300 post celebration!  Glad to have you here, my friend. Make a Toast [#toast] Pirate [oX)]

The birthday exchange was an idea I put out there to see the response.  As for the Santa exchange that could be fun.  I was thinking of doing a group think with the members of our three GBs.  Not necessarily a GB as a Secret Santa GB, just a GB between us.  If you the group as a whole want to create a Secret Santa GB then that will work also.  We still have six months to work out the details.

The Secret Santa sounds like fun, but I'm not sure how the Birthday thing would work as a GB.

63 years ago today the Allies landed in France- D-Day.  I hope that we all take a moment to give thanks for the troops that were a part of this and especially for the ones who gave their all in the name of freedom.

I forgot to add a few things.  I will create a data base with each member's name, date of birth and address with your consent of course.  I would also want a second to share the information with in case I am unable to fulfill my duties for any reason.  This information will be for only those involved and not to be m used for any kind of mass mailing purpose.

Since I started the idea Whistling [:-^] I will coordinate it.  All those who want to be a part of it PM and let me know if your in for the Santa and/or the birthday exchange.  If you're in the birthday exchange I will need your date of birth, any ideas on a price min and max for each?  On the birthday exchange I was thinking that I would put all the names in a hat and pick the person who will give the birthday gift on behalf of the group. I would PM that person who they need to buy for.  The idea being that you would only have to buy one birthday gift a year.  Any comments or suggestions would be great.  The Santa exchange is simple.  So what do you guys think?  The down side is that I need to be in Florida before the end of July so we need to get this rolling if you want to do this.  Frank, let your girlfriend know that I will have some posts of my Corsair when I get settled in FloridaCool [8D].  After all, Mike gave me that cool resin cockpit to useBow [bow].

To help band the core group together even more, we should have our own secret santa kit exchange?  Just an idea and I knew it's still six months away.  Maybe even a birthday kit exchange?

Roy

Interesting thought Roy, It would be interesting to hear what the others think (after they've sobered up - a little anywayWink [;)]).

Frank, sorry I missed the party.  I'll try to catch the next one.

OK, I think I have my model area set up enough to resume working on my Corsair.  Well, think I may have to wait a couple of days for the blisters on my fingers and the cuts and bruises everywhere to heal up first. Black Eye [B)]

Darren- Yeah, thinking about taking up full-scale modeling now.  If only I could figure out a way to get the finished planes out of the basement...

Darren-thanks for the tip on the PE belts & the wash.  I will definatly try the next time I use pre-colored belts.  For the Hellcat I've got an Ultracast resin seat that I'm planning to use...maybe-I like the ease of using PE belts rather than the painting involved with the resin seat/belt combination.
