You guys are killing me here... I almost gave in to the spitfire build - even had a kit in the online shopping cart, then remembered my personal promise to not buy anymore. Then the WWI GB - I have gone to the hobbyshop 3 times and oogled and almost bought, but stayed strong. Now Japanese - my favorite subject - I am so in! A couple previous Japanese builds for kicks...

Hope all is well.

Leon, some very nice work there! I think Japanese aircraft has got to be the most difficult to weather. Yours looks spot on!

Sign - Ditto [#ditto]  I really am having a ball here with you guys!  I really want to build that Ki-84 I have, but after my Zero debacle, thought about taking a few months off of Japanese aircraft to recover.

Darren- Thanks for the well wishes, I can't wait to be done packing and moving!

Leon- Your planes look incredible!  Really like the weathering on the George, very subtle but realistic!

Roy- Yep, 150+ years to finish 'em all unless I pick up the pace a lil'.  Think I had better go on a self-imposed buying rehab program too. Banged Head [banghead]

Thats about the time I was thinking.  If we all put our ideas together we will be together a long time doing GBs.  For example Frank said something about 100 plus years to build his kit?  I have to say that getting to know you guys has/is great, Life is GoodBig Smile [:D]

I have lots of FAA kits still in the stash, so I will keep this thread going for a long time. I like the idea for a Japanese GB,Thumbs Up [tup] I would like to join if it starts later on in the year as I have my fingers in many pies at the moment! I have no idea which aircraft to build though, I have never built a Japanese 'kite before.

Frank, Roy,

good luck with your moves guys!Thumbs Up [tup]Wink [;)] I hope all goes well for you.

That's too funny!  A couple of weeks ago, before the WWI GB got started, I was thinking about a Japanese GB.  I picked up a Hasegawa 1/32 Ki-84 Frank that I want to build this winter.  Sounds like fun Roy, and if you start one, count me in! Propeller [8-]

That's one I'd love to try, so count me in when it happens!

Hope the move goes smoothly for you, Roy, and that you're back at the workbench soon! Thumbs Up [tup]

That I will!  First I need to get this move out of the way.  I was thinking that when we all finish the group builds that we have going we should consider a Japanese group build.  Remember I told you that I have a 1/48 Tamiya Zero52c.  This would be way down the road.  By then I hope my skill level will be close behind the rest of the groupBig Smile [:D]  Again a very cool article.

Thanks buddy,

Roy,

Sounds like a feasible idea!  I think you should go for it, and post pics of your results!

Frank,

That technique is way cool.  According to the article the paint used for the red insignias held up better.  What if you used salt for the main color then before you painted the insignias you used a little more salt to give them a different level of paint chip.  Would this work?

Thanks a bunch for the article buddy,

Roy

You are very kind about my workshop too, I know that I'm very lucky to have my own little hideaway. I am working 14 hr shifts this week so I am just chilling with a beer at home before the next shift. I am planning to get some hobby time on my day off so hopefully I'll have something to show soon.

Darren, glad to have you back and glad your son is doing better.  I have three of my own and I know what its like.  As for the shop all I can say is wow!!!  I'm feeling a little green.  Gardening is one of my other passions and that would be so cool to have a set up like that.  Just have to make sure its heated for our Canadian winters.
