Yep, there's a lot of them, that's for sure, and they can be downright addicting! The series of D.VII's Eduard released are also real nice, and there's only a small amount of rigging involved. The Nieuport falls somewhere in the middle in regards to amount of rigging. The E.V's have quite a bit of it, inspite of the fact that they are not a biplane, but there are fewer struts and wing alignment issues to deal with.

Mike, I have been follow your talk about WW1 aircraft.  What kit would you recommend for some one who has never built one?

My in-laws are back to Germany next week which means I will have some time to work on my Corsair.

I like it a lot, Roy! I've got a few biplanes under my belt, but I'd still like to join it when it happens.

My feelings on it would be later this summer, early fall.  That will give me time to get things together.  I still do not know if I will be moving for a new teaching job.  (I do and don't want to leave Wyoming)

If this is a possible GB I know the rest of the group will join.  It seems that we have formed a small and close group.  Who knows maybe we can all get together at some point.  Of course Darren and Darren may have to travel a bit to reach us.  Just some ideas to think about.

Yep, I like this bunch we've put together. Everyone just seemed to click, and it's been a blast so far, but that doesn't suprise me. These forums are just loaded with great personalities and oodles of both talent and knowledge wherever you look. A GB draws in those with a real interest in a particular topic, and things just take off from there. Amazing how that happens.

I think a lot of members would be open to Frank's idea for that GB. When the time comes, we'll see how it pans out. You can count me in for sure.

And on the other side, I`d love to see a WWI GB for dummies appear during the autumn and winter(northen hemisphere of course) as I just recently bought me a duo combo kit of Eduards Pfalz I think it was to forget a thing like that. I have never done an effort in WWI planes so it would be a welcoming distraction for me. Have previously done a biplane, AMs F3-2 which was a nice kit,with some profound language from my part, have also started on Rodens Gladiator,which I have planned as a plane from the norwegian armys aviation corps(hærens flyvevesen) during the german assylt on Norway april 9. 1940, but thats on backburner waiting for me to come up with a clever idea on how to get some fonts for the special numbers we did use in those days., and of course the rigging which can become a pain in the ***

By the way, anyone who got any idea on Hobbyboss`Rafaele??? I`ve just ordered it with the plan for one in norwegian service,noe I`m bound to get kicked out of my home:), And of course if someone should happen to have a drawing og two of how the tsr2 would have looked in australian or canadian service I would have been much obliged as I plan to do one of my tsr2s in a canadian or australian service ca 1990-2000 ad.

Outside of Mike I think we all are newbies when it comes to WW1 aircraft.  We should give this idea some time, this fall would be great.  Like Frank said, moving and all that.

The more I read about this idea for a GB the better I like it! The timing sounds good too. This way everyone who's moving (you have my sympathies because I know how much work it involves ) will be settled into their new digs with their brand-spankin' new work areas just achin' for some action  ...& don't forget that we were are all newbies at one time or another. I'm going to try to dig up a pic of my first biplane, which was an Eduard Nieuport 17. The pic quality may not be that great, but that's OK...it'll hide all my screw-ups!

If we are all building biplanes for that GB, we could call it the "Putting wings on top of other wings" GB.....OK, I know that's a blatant rip-off of an old Monty Python sketch, but I just couldn't resist!

I did a search of the group builds and it looks as if ours will be the first WW1 biplane GB.  That sounds like a great time.  Who will make the badge?  My vote would be Mike, any second on that?

The WWI GB idea sounds great. I picked up 6 1/72 Revell Camels awhile back for a buck each on clearance.  The price was right and I was thinking they would look great in a dio (very ambitious I know).  They are pretty basic but I know with this group I'll pick up plenty of tips on how to dress them up a bit.  I have never done a bi-plane either!

Oh BTW, there was a bi-plane GB awhile (year and a half?) back but I don't think it was exclusively WWI.

Come to think of it, I remember seeing group badges for a GB along the same lines as this one also. But hey, that doesn't mean we can't start another one, right?

Looks like we're getting a lot of early support for this GB idea, so should we start a new thread about it here on the GB forum? If so, I'd nominate Frank to get it going, since he came up with the origional idea.

I did another search and it seems there was a GB, biplanes and triplanes any era.  So in a way we are a first in this group.

Thank you guys, I accept the nomination!  I will take charge of this WWI Gb, and post it over in aircraft and the GB forums.  I was thinking October 1st 2007 to October 1st 2008?  Does that sound Ok with everyone?  Hopefully, someone with some badge skills could help out with the badge, as I have no experience with it.  I'm so excited to start a GB!!!
