you know if we stick together as a group maybe in a year when we are all settled in our new digs we should get together, just an idea.  I would like to visit with you all in person.

Sounds like fun!  I wonder where the central location for all of us would be.

Question for the resident experts-when doing pre-painted PE for the interior that requires filing/sanding of the plastic part that it attaches to, do you sand/file, then paint and then attach PE or paint the part, file/sand and then attach PE?

Thanks

I haven't been there in ages it seems. That's a really cool idea! Thumbs Up [tup] The wife might even enjoy it (heck, she loved the Intrepid museum in NY! Big Smile [:D] )

My girlfriend and I went there last year, and she had a good time... well, at least for the first 3 hours.  The next three I could tell she was ready to go, but she didn't complain and let me "play." Propeller [8-]

Rick & Darren-thanks for the advice on the PE.  Based on the quality of your work, I'm going to follow your advice.

Bob, I'll agree with Darren & Rick...that's the best way to go. This way, you only have to paint once.

Cool pic, Frank! I can honestly say that I've stood in that very same spot at least 3 times. Wink [;)]

Darren the Corsair is looking great; it should be awesome once you've finished it up.

Frank your hobby cave is enormous, just think of the stash that will fit in there Shock [:O]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Bob aside from what has already been stated on pre-painted PE, the only other thing I do is apply a weak wash of raw umber to the harnesses to blend them into the rest of the front office.  I find that they tend to look just to "new" otherwise.

Cheers

Darren-thanks for the tip on the PE belts & the wash.  I will definatly try the next time I use pre-colored belts.  For the Hellcat I've got an Ultracast resin seat that I'm planning to use...maybe-I like the ease of using PE belts rather than the painting involved with the resin seat/belt combination.

OK, I think I have my model area set up enough to resume working on my Corsair.  Well, think I may have to wait a couple of days for the blisters on my fingers and the cuts and bruises everywhere to heal up first. Black Eye [B)]

Darren- Yeah, thinking about taking up full-scale modeling now.  If only I could figure out a way to get the finished planes out of the basement...

As soon as I can Wink [;)]

To help band the core group together even more, we should have our own secret santa kit exchange?  Just an idea and I knew it's still six months away.  Maybe even a birthday kit exchange?

Frank, sorry I missed the party.  I'll try to catch the next one.

Since I started the idea Whistling [:-^] I will coordinate it.  All those who want to be a part of it PM and let me know if your in for the Santa and/or the birthday exchange.  If you're in the birthday exchange I will need your date of birth, any ideas on a price min and max for each?  On the birthday exchange I was thinking that I would put all the names in a hat and pick the person who will give the birthday gift on behalf of the group. I would PM that person who they need to buy for.  The idea being that you would only have to buy one birthday gift a year.  Any comments or suggestions would be great.  The Santa exchange is simple.  So what do you guys think?  The down side is that I need to be in Florida before the end of July so we need to get this rolling if you want to do this.  Frank, let your girlfriend know that I will have some posts of my Corsair when I get settled in FloridaCool [8D].  After all, Mike gave me that cool resin cockpit to useBow [bow].

I forgot to add a few things.  I will create a data base with each member's name, date of birth and address with your consent of course.  I would also want a second to share the information with in case I am unable to fulfill my duties for any reason.  This information will be for only those involved and not to be m used for any kind of mass mailing purpose.

63 years ago today the Allies landed in France- D-Day.  I hope that we all take a moment to give thanks for the troops that were a part of this and especially for the ones who gave their all in the name of freedom.

Well put on the D-day rememberance.  I would have totally missed that if you hadn't mentioned it.

The Secret Santa sounds like fun, but I'm not sure how the Birthday thing would work as a GB.
