Alex got to use an airbrush for the first time with the help of dad.  He sprayed interior green for his P-40.

Very cute kid there Roy!!!  My youngest (now 9) decided one day a couple of years back that he wanted a red army so he painted all his nicely camoflaged toy tanks etc. with some bright red craft paint.  Like you said the mind of a young boy is a wonder. Wink [;)]

I will have the details for the Secret Santa Christmas gift exchange in October.  That should give everyone time to think of and secure a gift for their person. In the mean time PM your full name, mailing address and kit pref i.e. scale, genre, era what not.  I'll start putting together a mailing list like I did last year.  Details to follow.

Now on to Alex's first kit.  He picked Revell's 1/48 P-40B (it has a shark's mouth).  If your a rivet counter you need to go play somewhere elseBig Smile [:D]  For the colors I suggest what they should/could be then he does what he wants.  If its good enough for a five year old it's good enough for me.  The goal is to get him to like doing it and most of all he is having fun.

I showed him how to cut the parts from the tree and I cleaned them up for him.  He wants to use an airbrush to paint the cockpit.  I will help with thatSmile [:)]  I have to say that he is enjoying it and keeps asking if the paint is dried so he can do the next color, blue helmet with gold gogglesBig Smile [:D]  To be five again...........

Aaron & Richie, thanks for the kind words.  Alex, my 5 year old boy, has taken over the work area.  He's working on the Revell 1/48 P-40B.  He wants to paint the wings red and blueBig Smile [:D]  The pilot he has done in blue.  I have made suggestions but it's his build.  I do the glueing and some other things but it's as his.  I'll post some pics if  any one wants to see his work.

Also I was thinking about our FAA Christmas gift exchange this year.  If you guys want to do it again.  Let me know and I will work out the details.

Of course we want to see pics.  Be a proud papa and post 'em.  I was just wondering about the Secret Santa the other day.  Count me in.

Buddy & Frank, thanks for the words guys.  I will get some time today to work on some stuff.

Mike, I have my Corsair from the first FAA GB primed and ready for the next step, BTW it has the resin cockpit you gave me installedWink [;)]

Dave, did you ever get the email I sent back to you?  As for your Nov GB, I have to waite and see when my school date is.  If I'm around I will most likely try Minicrafts 1/144 American Airlines DC-4.

Awesome set up Roy.  I know of a certain weekend group build coming up in mid-November that would be perfect for breaking in that new work bench!

I hear Frank is going to try to do a B-17G in 48 hours for it!!! Shock [:O]Wink [;)]

Nice looking set-up, Roy (and it's good to see ya again!).

I dig those CFL bulbs that Bondo mentioned. I use two honkin' 42 watters (150W equivalents) made by Philips, with a color temp. of 6500K - closest thing to true daylight that you can mount into a socket. Won't even consider using anything else.

It's a small can, 10 gallons about. I use it for anything that gets solvent in it- rags, paper towel, latex gloves, all the good stuff that leads to fires.

I was thinking of the light but I hate/refus to use those pig tail lights or any kind of fluorescent bulb.  I use a low watt Reveal bulb.  Do you use the trash can for used Q-tips and what?  If so that sounds like a great idea, get one of those small ones.  I will also try the matt deal.

Wow, that's pretty, Roy. I have that same hood, and it's a bit of a rattler. I bought a 2x2 square of rubber stand-on matte and set 'er on it- problem solved. I'd also shy away from a light fixture with a hot bulb- i have a little compact flouresssy behind a white plastic lens. And if you haven't already got one, a steel garbage can with a tight fitting lid.

Now that my work bench is up and ready to roll perhaps I can get something finished....

I still have the Corsair from the first FAA GBWhistling [:-^]  but it's primed and ready to go.

If you look at the second pic to the bottom right of the spray booth you can see the top (green) of the kegged FAA Tango1 porter I brewed.  If anyone stops by I will share a pint with youMake a Toast [#toast]
