Roger,

glad you found your gunner before my shore patrol did!Pirate [oX)] Your build looks like its coming along nicely from where I'm standing.Thumbs Up [tup]

I would definately agree with what others have said about the Hasegawa Dauntless -I built one a while back and although I had to drill out the dive brakes, its a very good quality kit.Thumbs Up [tup]

Guys,

a quick heads-up. Like Roy said earlier we need more folks for our group Christmas gift exchange. We are a tight group and it would be cool to do something for each other at that special time of year. So if you are interested please PM our resident "special ops planner" Roy with  your details.

Thanks!!Thumbs Up [tup]

Great job on the Dauntless Darren Thumbs Up [tup].

Hope you recover soon from the Chicken Pox. Nasty as an adult, but the worse thing is the virus stays in your system even after recovery.  It may stay dormant, but it can come back as Shingles.  I had the Pox when I was around 5, but 60 years later it got me again as Shingles.  Spread into my left eye & if it weren't for some modern miracle drugs, at $500 USD for a weeks supply over a 3 month period,  I would have lost my sight in that eye.  Still lost 20% vision in that eye due to scarring on the Cornea.

Alright fellas, I'll take the reins for a USN/USMC GB sometime next year if that's alright with everyone.  Perhaps late spring?  Just a thought...

Darren-

That sucks mate!  Dead [xx(]  Sorry you are feeling so ill, but also glad that you will have plenty of shop time if you are up to it.  Beautiful SBD, hope mine turns out 1/2 as nice! Bow [bow]

We'll have a toast to the Cap'ns health.  And, for his birthday yesterday!

while we are speaking of our little ones.................

I was watching Star Wars with my son last night. Being only fours years old the entire concept of this film was new to him. He was mightily impressed with this imaginary world of starships, monsters and lightsabres but being a curoius little bloke he made some cracking oberservations during the film. Big Smile [:D]

1. Daddy-why does the big baddie in the black cape wear that mask? Does he have ashma?Big Smile [:D]

2. Daddy-how can Chewbacca fly a spaceship? He's a big teddy bear! Everyone knows that bears can't drive! Big Smile [:D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]

Laugh [(-D] oh how we laughed! Absolutely priceless!

Thanks, Darren! And that's a sexy bird ya got there! Hope mine will work out at least a 1/4 as nice! Sorry about the pox though, but look at the bright side. At least it's chicken, and not small pox!

A USN/USMC GB next year, huh? Hmmm.... interesting. Hopefully i'll get some of my other builds done before that happens. I've got an Academy F4U-1D that i'm interested in trying out the 3 color scheme. All i need is to get some AM decals for it.

Warmest regards,

Roger

So far, apart from looking like an extra from a horror film and being very itchy-I feel OK. I'm married to a nurse-so I'll be in good hands.

Here's to all of us! Cheers!Pirate [oX)]Make a Toast [#toast]

Same here Roger!  When the time comes, let me know what you are looking for as far as decals.  I counted last month, and I have 1/48 markings for 66 Corsairs.  Yowza!!! Whistling [:-^]

Well i can tell ya right now, Frank. I'm looking to get some of those US marrkings that have the red strip around em. I know that those were ordered for the sake of a month or so in 1943 (i believe). But i just love the way they look on that dark sea blue. The decals that came with the kit were Boyington's "LullaBelle". But i haven't heard very much good of Academys decals, so i can't think of a better candidate in my stash than that. Kinda like bird in your avatar, that's what i've got in mind (at least i think it has those decals)

Warmest regards,

Roger

Not sure! I've seen some threads elsewhere that go as high as 156 pages or so, but i don't think they are in the GB forum!

You have to admit Darren, if you didn't serve up the rum every friday then we would probably still be on page 50 or so. It helps to have something to help you loosen up on the weekends, huh?Wink [;)]

Now the question is, who's gonna break the 100 page mark? I say he should cover the bar tab this weekend!Thumbs Up [tup]

Darren-fine looking lad you have there....enjoy him at this age.  Mine is now looking me straight in the eye....they grow up too quickly...

The Dauntless is outstanding.  You do good work.

Hope you recover from the pox soon.  And feel well enough now to enjoy the time off.

100 pages is quite a feat, even if it isn't officially a record.  The comradiere here is wonderful, and to be able to hang out here and share not just models but life in general is truly a gift.  I consider everyone here my friend, and look forward to another 100 pages!  I agree with Roger, the rum helps too! Yep! That's pretty much the jist of it, Frank! If i remember correctly, the discussion of the Red markings were in that thread you had posted the Hog before. But yeah, some of those would be awesome! If the GB kicks off late spring, that'll gimme plenty of time to prep. If ya can spare a set of those, that would be great!

Roger
