Roll Models has FINALLY shipped my order placed on 3/24

Gosh, I hated that wait.  But there was an upside since I am building two kits for this GB, I was able to put much of the Do217 together before the masks finally arrived.  Tonight I finally got all the masking done and can now get back to work on completing these kits.

I won't be placing any more orders from Roll Models unless they are my only option.  That 3 week wait is ridiculous. The only reason I ordered from them is that Squadron did not have the Ju88 masks in stock -- although they did have the Do217 masks in stock, but I didn't want to pay for separate shipping charges.  About 2 weeks into my wait Squadron finally did show the 88 masks in stock, and I'm sitting there thinking I could have ordered from Squadron and had the masks in about 2 days ... and about that time I got the e-mail from Roll Models that the order had been fulfilled.  Ack, rant over!

OMG.... Roll Models has FINALLY shipped my order placed on 3/24.  I was not up to the task of masking the canopy on the He 111, especially in 1/72.  Getting old and lazy... what can I say? Anyway, the point is the Eduard masks are in that order.  So when they get here, and if I really can sit at the bench after my knee operation this Friday, I may finally make some progress on my bomber.

Holy Cow, Dave! If that's freehand camo, you're my hero....amazing work. I have a hard time spraying one-tone schemes!

Out of curiosity, which airbrush(es) do you use? I have an Iwata Eclipse for general work, and I've inherited my late uncle's Sotar 20/20 for fine work, but I'm far from having that one mastered. I don;t know if I have the right tip/needle combo in there, but I have yet to spray a fine line.

I haven't built my Dragon kit yet (Ju-88C-6) but all the reviews resound what you;ve said: outstanding detail, but "some assembly required". In the end, they give you what's needed to make a winner.

I can't wait to see your fleet...keep the pics coming.

Looking good Mucker, Always loved the Mediteranean colours! And just to prove it here is a photo of a build I did last year.

I don't really think they used these to bomb the beacheads in Italy but it was an old Revell kit that was somewhat lacking in detail and I just wanted to have fun with it and practise my airbrush technique.

Now on to the more serious current builds here are a couple of photo's of my current builds.  Two are assembled and the third is on its way.  hopefully I'll get all four done this weekend and then I can start on the cockpits.  (BTW: I did not paint the interior green on the third fuselage - I'm builidng this one for a friend who had barely started it.)

This little fella is the Julia parasite fighter for the fourth Ar 234 that I'm working on.  It was worth buying the fourth 234 just for this little guy. 

I've heard horror stories about the fit of the Dragon aircraft Kits and I have to admit that they are not Tamigawa quality in terms of fit but so far so good and the detail is as good as anything else I've built.

Aha! So thats the secret! Makes sense...the Tamiya thinner pretty much assures no build up on the tip. Has anyone out there tried the Gunze thinner? What's the general consensus on it?

All right, guys, finally some progress pics. Last weekend I picked up the RLM 79 paint (Polyscale) I needed for the topcote when visiting my folks in Cleveland. I was FINALLY able to check out the LHS called "Wings". They advertise in FineScale, and wow, what a great store. I found some other decals, paints and tools there, too. I wish I had pics of the store.

I pre-shaded and tried to keep some of the effect. Next steps will be fututre, which I can take care of over the next few days in several light cotes, and then my favorite...the decals:

I've managed some progress over these last few days on both the Ju 88 and the Do 217.  No pictures but those will come soon.

I got the Eduard canopy masks in from Roll Models after 3 weeks of waiting.  Tonight I finished masking the Ju 88; I hope to have the Do 217 masked by this weekend.  Once I can do some detail painting of guns and ammo boxes, etc that will be sealed inside the cockpits, I plan to lay down some schwartzgrau to represent the interior framing paint.  From there I am going to attempt pre-shading with a dark color, perhaps not black but maybe dark gray before embarking on the exterior painting.

but i am really proud of him.

well im in the process of masking all the glass for the condor.

hopefully i'll be able to spray some paint this next week.

Going off another post of yours...would your son be interested in any Luftwaffe Bombers by any chance? If so, it'd be neat to have a father-son tandem in the GB. Just food for thought...

As for my progress, despit elack of pics, I made some great strides over the weekend. The lower and upper base cotes are on. Next will be some faded flying surfaces followed by a Future cote, and then decals.

As for me it was a very busy Easter weekend with no time at the bench but I did get a start on my Ar 234's before the weekend with one fuse' and wing assembly completed.  Unfortunately it had a bit of a warp to the tail section but I think I managed to get it to look alright.  If I can catch my second wind I might start the second one tonight.

INvertman, it looks like you have two winners going stroing there.

I spent the week out of town working and then visiting my folks in Cleveland. The good news is that I picked up my RLM 79 and RLM 25 paints, so now I have no excuses over the weekend to get some modelling done. My second wind has picked up.

Marc: Your wing root gap musthave been contagious. Geesh...it's worse than a Daycare center in here! Next thing you know, Invertman will rub off on me and I'll have two entries in the GB as well...

started fitting the upper wing.

then its time to make a mess with the putty.

this thing needs a ton of it.lol.

Hey mucker....

 Noticed you did the same thing as I did with my 111 left the landing gear off till after painted but added the doors. Just as a heads up its going to be a bit tough to get the rear braces in place, The final open position of the doors are affected by the width of the gear, hopefully you were up one on me and dryfitted first. Still its going to be a tight fit...good luck.sorry I missed warning you about it. ALso check the fit of the canopy along the fuselage side there might be some warpage or alignment my greenhouse was a bit wide...luckly it wasnt too much and ended up with minimal overlap on each side...and nice work on those nacelles...I know they are a real beeotch...the seam looks good...should cover up nicely.

 looks good so far...I unfortunately am on hold....got lots of work and will be away on vacation next week....so looks like two weeks till get going on my 177 again and close that fuselage,
