pearl harbor 2007 thankyou

Sorry i haven't been around lately guys. But i got a bit of a shock a few days ago here, and it looks like i'll have to step away from the bench for a couple of months. The unit is sending me to Pennsylvania to get certified on a different airframe, so it looks like i'll be messing with the 1/1 scale aircraft until memorial day. I've got about 2 weeks till i have to be there, so i'm gonna be wrapped up messing with getting ready to go in the meantime. I'll get on and check with y'all as often as i can. But the sad part is that it's gonna severely cut into the time i have to make the GB deadline. But i'll see what i can do with 6 months after i get back.

On the GB Badge, i took the more favored ones and refined it a little here. I found that when i go to shrink it down some more, ya can't read the text well. So y'all take a look at this one and let me know what you think. If it works for ya,then by all means save it to post.It's ready to download. The text is still kinda small, but i didn't wanna block much of the picture, and if i make it any larger, then Onfinite will put a watermark in there. Whaddya think?

roger your job is far more important.  we will be here when you return.  as for getting the build done in the "timeframe" well i think you will do fine with that.  the badge looks good.  i think it sets a good tone for the build.

Thanks Joe! I've actually kicked around the idea of bringing the kit with me, but i think maybe the airlines might have issues with me bringing an exacto knife and things of the like. Anyone know of anything really fun to do in Pennsylvania?

fun to do in pennsylvania..... depends where ya will be.  all i know is erie, pittsburgh, philly and gettysburg is fun places to go otherwise im not sure.  if ya are history bluff then Philly and gettysburg mightbe best place to go.  hope it helps smiles

Joe, I have the Aichi Jake underway.  I believe these scouted Pearl before the attack from the Tone and Chikuma.  Would these qualify?  I am not sure about the paint jobs but will research. I will try to participate and submit pictures.  Greg

I have changed to a Val for this GB, but thought that I would post this Jake for those who like Japanese floatplanes.  I have already posted it on the Aircraft Forum but thought it belongs here as well.  The paint is incorrect for Dec 7, 1941, but it is a plane which could be built for the GB. 

greg it would fit nicely.  the only problem would be that you would now have to shelve it until july.  for me that would be pretty tough.  hehehehe.

Fightn', I researched the Jake from the Pearl attack and it was the JI-1 (tail number) from the Tone.  They went to the Lahaiana area and the pilot was Warrant Officer Ryozo.  Unfortunely for me that plane was all gray with the black cowl.  Mine is already in the green/grey so I will not enter it but will finish it up as is.  I may get a Val going if the pre-orders ever pan out. Greg

Hey guys! Been a little while since i've been online here, so i figured i would drop in and say hey! Gonna do Getysberg here tomorrow (weather permitting) so it should be a good time here.

   I know the build isnt scheduled to begin right away, but i wanted to also make sure that this GB is bumped back up. I've posted the badge earlier on the post, so take it and post it if you like, and you are welcomed to refine it as well. Even though i'm most definately away from the bench now, i'm really anxious to start the build. Partly because my build was one of those my Dad and I did together when i was a kid, so it'll be quite a trip down memory lane for me!

   I hope ya guys are doing well, and i'll check back as often as i can! Hang Loose!

What's this? Do I see a P-40 in my future? (In between Spitfires, of course...)

I can think of no build I'd like to do more to honor the Pearl Harbor Defenders than George Welch's P-40. Count me in!

Not sure if I'll do the Revogram or Trumpeter kits. I've done the Revogram and Academy kits as AVG birds. I want to do the R-M kit again, but I may decide to try the Trumpeter one too.

Maybe I'll go nuts and do Ken Taylor's too, and compare the kits.

Put me in for a 1/72 Airfix OS2U Kingfisher.  I plan to do it showing bomb damage to the tail, as seen in pics of Ford Island later in the day.  I thought about making it as a dio, but that's beyond me for now.

Also, some photos show SOC floatplanes collected in one area, but I've never found any shots taken close enough to them to show markings.  Does anyone know of any?  These would be cruiser scouts, I assume.

Faund it: so its official, I've got a 1/48 Revell  P-40 B  and aftermarket kits from Eduard and others.

YUP !

I have my P-40 B - and eduard PE detail set plus a resin cockpit. One more thing - I need to find some details on a P-40 B i need to build - a "Miss Kay" - currently I have only one picture of this plane - F.Gabresky sits on the wing.

Some research required :(

Maybe some of you could give me a direction on where to find something about this plane ???

Ok since i can start alittle later i would like to do the arizona just dont know what scale yet i have been trying to find the 1/350th  on ebay found it but forgot and auction ended so if i can get it in 1/350th by the time i can start then will do the next best thing but will be the arizona
