bondoman you are on the list.  sorry for the delay.  had some offline issues to deal with.  as for the b-10 that will work.  i seem to remember reading somewhere, now lost in the pile, that they were there used for training.  as for the paint scheme od/gray was the proper scheme for the military a/c.  however i have no evidence for or against.  as long as the unit markings are right nmf or od will work.  and thankyou for the kind words about this build.  i hope that members look at this build as i do.  a tribute to those involved.  never to be forgotten.

ygmodeler i hope your trip to the islands will be a pleasant one.  enjoy yourself.

brian i have that kit also.  i am doing the 1/700 version.  get started when you can.  i will be watching how yours comes together.

as i stated to me the most important part of this build is to have fun.  if you learn something then bonus.  i do ask that members finish.  if you dont finish by the so-called end date then fine but please finish.  dont let it land in the never going to touch again pile.  

my first update.  

this is the minihobbies uss arizona in 1/700.  so far just some basic construction.  i will be adding pe to this very soon.  

since these pics have been taken i have masked the hull and then oversprayed black.  i will be starting the pe railing soon, i hope.

I am trying to make the P-40B from an old monogram kit - but until today the most accurate P-40B ! I got PE set and a Resin Kit for the interior details. I hope it will trun into a nice bird

Scribbing lines is a real pain in ....

at htis time I have a question for anyone here: I am looking for all availalbe references of P-40B from Wheelers Field on Dec 7. If you come up to anything on this subject please drop me an email here. It seems not so obvious when it comes to details ....

but if not , any of those crafts will do. Originally I was thinking about making a craft Gabby may flown while being there but after struggling with lack of info, any plane from this unit would do the job

Allright, guys...I've started on my P-36A. I was able to grab the Legend resin cockpit set...my first resin cockpit, and I'm a tad nervous but so far everything is working well.

Does anyone have any pictures of a wartime P-36A cockpit (interior green)? Since I'm doing Ken Taylor's bird in OD/NG I'd like to do the more attractive interior green cockpit.

Also, what color would the prop and spinner be on this? Black prop with aluminim spinner?

my girlfriend's name is kay.... i am def building this. i will look for the markings or make my own. if i make my own "miss kay" stencil i will send you one as well.

The funny story behind this plane: Grabeski's girfiend's name was Kay, however this plane was assigned to his friend whom girlfriend's name was also: ... Kay

I found it in Gabby's book but he did not mention any additional info. No markings info, serial number - nothing.

Both are GREAT movies. I haven't seen PEarl Harbor yet...I hear the movie stinks but the airplane footage is great. For some additional inspiration, here are a few photos from the Dayton Airforce Museum. THis is a beautifully restored Zero.

Well, here's the start of my P-36A. Thanks to those of you who talked me into making the cockpit silver lacquer. Hoepfully this will give it a little more realism. Below is the 1/48 Legend resin cockpit, ready to be installed this weekend.

greg rescribing is a chore but it looks like you are progressing well.

semibold your zeke is looking great.  crisp and clean.

charles the pit looks fantastic.  the last 36 i did had the nmf interior.  it is more of a challenge than what i thought.  yours looks fantastic.

i am making minor progress.  going section by section with the pe and the painting.

remember that the a/c used were the cream of the crop.  as i read and have heard almost all were in prestine condition.  the zekes were fresh a/c.

Great processing guys.  I finally got start on my IJN carrier (the akagi),  but i need some color photo or illustartor so that i can know what the color was that the akagi had on dec 7th.  the kit said it was dark gray on the island and upper hull and cocnut brown on bottom of hull. i wasnt sure if those two color are correct.  all i know the flight deck was tan/wood color with white stripes.  the reference and sources i look at was black and white.  help me out thanks.  I will post up the photo soon. 

Some of you mention the movie pearl harbor  was bad movie which i agree but the cgi was amazing.  I thought it would be remake of tora. but i was wrong argh.

not all of it was cgi though, a buddy of mine was stationed at Scofield Barracks at the time and used to eat lunch outside and watch the all the planes come in.

 must be awesome to watch it smiles.  i only see val flying in Geneseo NY for the airshow.  never saw Kate or Zeke flying. 

Anyways   i was researching for color markings on the Akagi carrier and seem found it but not sure if its the right color on the flight deck because i wasnt sure if there was a big red soild circle on the deck or its gray soild circle.  let me know if its correct color/markings before i go ahead.  I will post up the picture soon when i got the time.  here is the website

i was impressive with the work on the akagi.  but im not going to make it like that cuz im not there yet  still learning.

I consider TTT the gold standard for movies about 12/7/41. Who cares?

"From Here To Eternity" is as good, for the simple reason that it was filmed on location in 1953 and has the feel, I guess, of the (Edit by Bondoman: one of the 50 alltime great novels ever written in the english language in the 20th century) book that is close to as good as James Jones' masterpiece could ever be. First half-phenomenal. Second half- regular stuff except for the end.

    Heya guys! Sorry i hadn't been around at all the last few months, but things have finally settled down to a point where it's manageable. Been a rough period for me. Of course it doesn't help that come to find out that my air compressor is all jacked up here.

   But nonetheless, i'm looking to be back up and running at the bench this weekend. Wouldcha guys let me come back into the GB? I've got that P40B box all opened up and everything!
