amazing work on those panel lines and rivits, how did you get such clear yet understated definition?

Thanks for the words of encouagement. I have rethought my demise and I would like to see it built also. I will try to have it complete by the end of the year, but last time I pushed myself to a deadline I didn't want to build for three months. It became a job rather than a hobby.

Greg yours is looking good too.  I love the art work, don't see that very often on the spits.

you are right, this kind of art was not too common Big Smile [:D] but Zumbach was quite a character Big Smile [:D]

I am trying to use exclusively Techmod decals (what makes it much easier since most of my planes are Polish Big Smile [:D], however they make a lot of other markings as well as Polish). I found them very nicely done, accurate and very easy to work with.

Greg and Jon, those are well built models.  Very nice finishes.  Jon, I know exactly what your pain is on the Propagteam decals from the ICM kits.  I find it almost impossible to have any success with them.

Nice build Jon!  I can't see any problems with your markings.  Very striking aircraft with the full invasion stripes on it too.  Thumbs Up [tup]

Well- I finally finished my Hasegawa Mk. IXe, which I did as a c wing version. The kit comes with parts for both..... even a Mk. VIII can be built from the kit. It's finished in both the kit's decals- which were good, and Johnnie Johnson's markings from the ICM Mk. IX- which were awful.

I published a full build report here

This was a good kit- very detailed, good fit.... costs a bit more than the Airfix Mk. IX, but it's a much nicer and detailed kit overall.

Please forgive me, but I must humbly and regretably beg off this GB. Too many irons in the fire. Everyone here is doing a great job.

I have enough for tonight Big Smile [:D]

worked on my PZL a bit

on my P-47M

and the latest on Zumbach's Vb Big Smile [:D] but just did one side tonight.

As far as how many decals do I have for Spitfires ... let me count them now ...

just 25 diferent markings for Mk II, V, VIII and IX (not counting those coming with boxed kits (+2xMk IX, 1x Mk V, 1x Mk VIII) ... it looks to me not enough kits ... but I just started in May this year Big Smile [:D]

Glad you liked it Greg!  I really like your paint work, I cannot see any trouble areas from the photos!

You Spitfire decal affliction sounds like mine with Corsairs, last time I checked I had markings for 66 of them! Shock [:O]

Thanks Frank. This is exactly what I tried to get , but my dark green was too thick in most places ... maybe next one Big Smile [:D] (I have decals for at least 20 Spits Big Smile [:D] )

Tonight I placed a glossy coat (MM Gloss can paint) and ... I have a nasty overspray accumulation in one spot ... what a nightmare.

I tried to dillute it a bit with a thinner, got it better but far from perfect. I will do more tomorrow, hoping to fix this otherwise .. I will have to strip the whole paint ...

Next time I am going to use Future for this application. At least I can remove future without destructing enamel base coat.

Hmmm... the plot thickens!  The Zumbach I know also has Swiss Citizenship (which seeing as its a Swiss name could mean nothing)!  Must talk to him about it next time we're on the phone.  It's a pitty I don't know him well, we've only met a handful of times and rarely talk on the phone as his wife and my wife are sisters so we men folk hardly get a word in edgewise when we do get together.  Taped Shut [XX]

TLP - Very nice but too bad about the blurry photo's.  Any chance you'll get it back to take some more photo's?

Thanks Big Smile [:D]

Dave, according to Zumach's biography ("Mr Brown") he lived in France after the WWII (with some times when he fought over Africa or smuggled Swiss watches to England Big Smile [:D] ). However the name Zumbach is in fact swiss. Zumbach had double citizenship: Polish and Swiss
