Here's some more!

The wings went on well and there was only a minor gap that I fixed with a bit of thin plastic.

Unsharp pic, but I think you can see what I mean anyway! :)

Here's the assembled plane!

And a top view!

So now I'll start filling and sanding! Not much filling to do though!

Cheers,

Azgaron

Yes, I think so, but I'll try at least!

I've done some filling and sanding, and now I think it's getting ready to paint! I should just figure a good way to mask the cockpit!

Cheers,

Azgaron

Long time-no see! I've been away on my travels and its nice to see that you fella's are doing fine work here.Approve [^]

I just thought I'd drop in and let you know that the long-awaited 1/48 Special Hobby Spitfore Mark Vc has gone on sale here in the UK.

For a limited run kit it looks good, so I've ordered two of them already!Cool [8D]

Hope you are all happy and well.Wink [;)]

Glad to see you're back Darren!

Again it feels like the build is going slower than I want it to! I did some masking of the canopy and had a go at some pre-shading!

How hard can it be to paint straight lines? Well I guess it won't show much when the rest of the colors are on.

Cheers,

Azgaron

Thanks!Smile [:)]

Looks like good progress from here, I can't spray straight either, but don't worry, take your time with the camo colours and it will turn out fine. Wink [;)]

Thanks Frank!

That's great news! Given another two weeks, might just do the trick! If I'm done before the 13th it's going with me to the show in Gothenburg that weekend!

Here I've done about three layers of white paint!

Now it's time to mask for the black on the other half! Whren I did the pre-shade I didn't check which side had which colors so both sides got the pre-shade!

Nice paint work!  How is this build doing?  Did you finish her in time for the RAF GB?

I started playing with another 1/48 Spitfire kit this weekend (can't resist them!) and wanted to try an idea I had about the kit exhausts.  They come in the kit poorly shaped, with hemispherically(sp) shaped outlets and no flare.  I wanted to get a set of those beautifully cast Ultracast sets, but everyone is out of stock right now.  So, I took a .25mm round dental bur (yep, a VERY small one, roughly 1/2 the size of a #80 drill bit!) and ground out the outlets to more closely resemble the real thing.  Then, to replicate the tiny curved slit, I lightly ran the little bur into the plastic to simulate the new outlet.  Man, that was very tricky!  But, I am pleased with them and think they look much better than they do as supplied in the kit.

Here the end is done compared to the two top ones that need to be finished yet:

Here is the completed one on the left with the part as supplied in the kit on the right:

Not exactly scale, but much better IMHO.  Here's one on a real bird:

The exhausts look outstanding BTW

LOL, yep!  50x magnification can be a blessing, and a curse!  Hard to make anything look good under that power.

I have an old Revell 1/542 scale USS Forrestal.  I'll send the aircraft to you to have the exhaust drilled out, CODWhistling [:-^]

About ready to restart my SpitfireBig Smile [:D]  My one question is what's a good method to blend the camo together.  Right now the colors look good but seem to be missing something.

Any ideas would be great.

Roy, I've read that some people spray a light mist of thined out tamiya buff (any light buff colour will do) to tie all the clours together.  I've tried it recently and it works great but it's easy to go overboard though (as I've found out Blush [:I]) so go easy and check your work as you go.

Was checking out the camo on my Spitfire before I start with the buff and I noticed that somehow I missed a seamConfused [%-)]  It's more of a small step on the leading edge of the front wing root.  It seems that I will need to remove a bit of paint, add some putty and resand and paint.
