I found our GB on page 3Sad [:(]

I will be working on my Spitfire some this weekend, fixing that nasty wing step I found.  Was working on a Pz.I but I have to get some paint for it.  Yes I know, the dark sideEvil [}:)]  But it's good to be bad sometimesMischief [:-,]

I'll try and get some pics on the Spitfire during the weekend.

Well it's Saturday and I'm sanding the paint off that wing step in order to putty up the step.  Then more sanding and repaint that part of the aircraft.  Was talking with Frank (Daywalker) about camo masking.  Since I have to repaint a small area I was going to try Microscale's Mask for the camo lines.  I made tape mask the first time.  Thinking the liquid mask would be fast and easy.  Anyone have any input on using this method?

The dark earth has been sprayed.  Now to mask that off and spray the dark green.

Is there anyone out there still working on a Spitfire?

I didn't get around to spraying the dark green.  Perhaps Wednesday.  I'll try and post something worth posting.

Just remember to mist the paint on so it doesn't build up on the masks edge. Hope to see your progres soon.Thumbs Up [tup]

Just finished painting the dark green.  I have a question for you guys.  I picked up some Tamiya Smoke & Buff a few weeks back.  Which one will help to blend the colors/tone them down?  Do I do it before decaling or after?  Also how thin do I do the spray?

Pics ROY... We need Pics!!!

Definitely use the Buff.  Before or after decaling depends on how you want it to look.  I like doing the mist before decals as I like them to look crisp and new.  I've experimented with different thinner ratio's and I find it doesn't matter that much.  You just have to be careful to start off slowly from far away (with the airbrush) and see how it goes down.  It's easy to over do it so do a light coat and stand back and see how it looks.

Dave's advice is spot-on, go real easy with that buff....be mean with it!

If you spray over the decals it fades their colour, so your finished model will look more weathered.

The choice is yours, hope we see some pics soon.Approve [^]

Dave & Darren, thanks for the information.  I will try the before decals.  My thinking is that the British (Darren) are proud of the Sptifire and wanted to make sure the Germans could spot them, therefor the made sure the marking are nice and cleanWink [;)]  plus they would/should take pride in their aircraft (crewchief)

Was hoping some of the Spitfire experts here could help.  I'm building the Tamiya 1/72 Spit Mk.I for the Weekend GB and the instructions call for what looks like two oxygen bottles to be painted the same color as the cockpit.  Is this correct?  If not what color should they be?

Buddy,

I am no expert on Spitfire colors, but I have seen those tanks painted either the interior color, or a fairly bright green.  Most builds I see have them in the interior color, and that is how I usually paint them.  HTH!

Just stopped by, hoping to see some WIP pics somewhere.  I have wanted to build another Spit, but my current list of GB's prohibits that.  Maybe next year!

Futured and applied the decals.  Waiting for the Micro Sol to do it's job.  Once the decals are the way they need to be I will let them dry for a day, wipe it all done, seal them and on to the next step.

For those that may not know this is the Revell Mk II in 1/48.  The markings are for P.O.  A.S.C. Lumsden, No 118 (F) Squardon, 1941.

Update on the Spitfire.  I'm not sure if this was a good idea or not but I did it anyway.  I attached my pin vise to the prop shaft.  In the past this has always worked.  We while spraying the last clear coat the shaft had had enough, broke off.  I will try to glue it back on and if that fails to work I will just have to replace the shaft.  One way or another I will post some pics today.

Here's where she is now.  Did not get as much as I wanted today.  Sealed the decals, attached the gear, the prop shaft is fixed.  The prop and exhaust are not glued on yet just wanted to get a look at her.

Tonight I will add some ProModeler wash and see how it looks on the raised panel lines.

Thanks Dave.  I sprayed the flat coat on today.  Now all I need to do is add the small parts.
