Thanks ! Smile [:)]

I plan to build at least one more: P-47D Bubblotop - last Gabby's plane. I like the camo on them.

I also may build a P-47D from Mass ANG, so the total will be 5 Jugs Smile [:)]

Wow thats great. I really want to know how do you shade/paint those panel lines? I have been wanting to do that badly but no luck.

Thanks !

In fact those panel lines are pretty simple to do.

After I finish decalling, I spray the whole thing with gloss coat (again) and after 24 hours is ready to feed panel lines with some shade. I use Michaels acryl paint dilluted with water and soap (dishwasher - just few drops). Than I put this mixture into panel lines as accurate as I can. The capillar effect takes place most time. The rest just clean as usual wash with wet paper towel. Depends how much dirt I want to keep, I can remove almost all paint and leave just highlighted panel lines.

a bottle of paint is about $0.65 at Michaels and they have tons of shades available

on thsi picture you can see the tail being applied however the rest of the craft has been cleaned up already

Sure I did preshading and some postshading. OD is too boring to leave without such variatey of shades.

After it dries out (cleaning) I put a dull coat and that is it.

so here we go: Gabby's Razroback -

This is my tribute to the memorial Day - I finally finished (99.99% Smile [:)]) of Tamiya 1/48 Razorback in Francis Gabreski's markings HV*A

Still need few details but those have to wiat for my display to be done. I have a tendency to ripp off all aerials as soon as I attempt to touch my models for a first time Smile [:)]

This one is painted with MM enamels. I used some Eduard details on the cockpit (seatbelts). Decals are from Techmod-Poland.

I tried to make a BW photo. It is really cool to see something like this Smile [:)]

Here are some pics from a couple weeks ago.  I just got the film developed.  As of today, the decaling is done and I have started tinting panels.

Thanks for sharing, however I especially appreciate your effort to go through film developming in order to show your project ! Awsome.

I am going to get one of these tamiya bubbletops and build Gabby's last Jug!

Be careful with the wheel well doors, I just fought with my carpet monster (and won)  on hydraulic actuator ! Those are easy to loose Smile [:)]

Great job Raider but isn't that a black glare panel? It just looks like it on the box art.

Gzt I am not going to build my tammy thunderbolt this year. Probably next. Only reason is I want to get super good and make the money worth for the kit.Smile [:)]

It does look like a black anti-glare panel on the box, but the instructions call for olive drab and I am sure that is correct. Good reasoning raptordriver. This is an excellent kit and can build into a beaut if it is done well.

I just listen to my friend who gave me a bit lecture on picture editing including overview of few software packages. Photoshop, GIMP, PaintShopPro and Photoshop Elements. Since I have license for the last three, I picked the least (fastest) demanding. I used Photoshop Elements (old ver 2) and just use a quick fix for color balance and brightness. It worked right perfect first time. A custom White balance was used while taking a picture what helped.

I found all other packages a bit annoying, and learning curve too steep for me - I just want to fix my picture and not spend days of learning how todo it. I am not professional graphic designer and I never beone (no desire at all Smile [:)] )so I vote for an old tool from stripped out Photoshop Smile [:)]

How about an Revell, Arii or a Tamiya '47 Jug?

Possibly a pair of 1/72 Lindberg'ers.Whistling [:-^]

Here it is!

More pics on the post in the a/c forum

as a bonus here is a Hasegawa 1/48 P-47d Razorback I did before this one. THe kit was alright but the decals were HORRIBLE! Very thick and didn't settle down well. Oh well.

Sharp Jug, Raider! Love those checkerboard nose patterns, and the weathered NMF looks spot on! Big Smile [:D]

The second one looks pretty sweet too...is that the "Rescue Squadron" release? I've got that one in the stash, was wondering how well those massive stripe decals would lay down.

Dupes, it is the Rescue squadron release. My opinion-PAINT THE STRIPES AND THE NOSE!  The nose decals wrinkle horribly in bad places unless you cut slits in them. The stripes on mine were rather thick and did not lay down very well.  I love that scheme, but I strongly suggest painting it although masking would be a job.  Thnx for the commentsBig Smile [:D]

You're welcome. Wink [;)]

Gotta tell you I'm not looking forward to masking allllll of those stripes...Yuck [yuck]
