Love to help you out fellas...but it appears I'm a weeeee bit overcommitted to GB's right now. Heh. Wink [;)] Something like 13 builds lined up already - that's if I decide not to attempt to do my other planned builds for War In The Desert and Hunters. Shock [:O]

Guess it's time to quit the job! Big Smile [:D]

Bob, thanks for the feedback. I'm a Tamiya guy but this Academy kit was a fun build, plus it was enjoyable to have the interior to detail. I really like the scheme you are putting on your T-34, it's nice to see some variance in a world of OD green.  Looks like you'll have fun with that Willys too.

Thanks Tellis.  With a little luck, I should have both finished by the end of March....ok, maybe a lot of luck....

Looking forward to seeing your T-34 in it's winter wardrobe....

I was wondering if someone could help me out with two very basic things...

This is my first serious build, and the kit I have contains a few resin pieces. What is the best method for removing the surplus resin?

Also, if anyone has any good ideas about photographing models, please let me know. I can't seem to get things right with that. Thanks.

Hey Fyuri - I don't have a TON of experience with resin, but depending how much you need to remove, I usually start off with my dremel, move to a hobby blade, and finish with sandpaper. Wear your respirator though, and do it outside (if you can) - it makes a big mess.

As for taking pics of your models, mine were always pretty crappy until someone pointed me toward this guys site:

http://www.strobist.blogspot.com/2006/07/how-to-diy-10-macro-photo-studio.html

Ever since all my pics have been MUCH better. You may have to adjust the dimensions of the box a bit to fit your stuff in depending what scales you work with, but it's very easy to make. Big Smile [:D]

Hurrah,  My T-34 is complete. I whitewashed it using a modified version of the Elizondo method, http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/magazine/2003/02/stuff_eng_tech_detergent_wash.htm I pleased with how it came out.

Dang Saddler - that was quick! Came out really good, too. Wink [;)]Thumbs Up [tup]

Is the "snow" version just temporary? Sprinkle on some WS stuff?

Snag your badge, sir! Big Smile [:D]

Very nice work Saddler.  Very nice.  I'm always impressed with people that can turn out great work in the very small scales.  Great job.

Alright Winter Warriors...I've decided to get my butt out of the Frozen Wasteland Of The North and head down to Florida to play some G-O-L-F. Cool [8D]

I'll be gone until next Monday...but keep cranking out the builds! I'm leaving SMJ and Espins in charge, unless someone else wants to do it. Laugh [(-D] No changing the build guidelines while I'm gone, you two. Wink [;)]

Hopefully I can check in some time over my too-short vacation, but I don't know what the availability of internet access is where I'm staying. Have a good one fellas! Stay warm! Tongue [:P]

Hurry back Lycra man, we'll miss you LOL.

Saddler, love the T34, if your not using the PVA on your tank cos its too thick. Just thin it down with some water. Simple.

Managed to sneak onto a pc here for a couple of minutes - just talked to my wife, it's snowing (again) in Maine, while I am currently treating day one of my sunburn in the 85 degrees and sunny we've got down here. Heh. If I didn't like getting cooped up all winter to build so much I could see me coming down this way a bit. Big Smile [:D]

Keep the builds coming, fellas - while I'm having a great time eating too much good food and playing marathon golf, can't wait to get back to the bench on Monday. That Panther and Stuka are calling to me...Laugh [(-D]

dupes:  I was gone for a while too but I'll take the reins the best I can while you're gone...glad to hear you're going to some warmer weather...you deserve it after all that snow.

I like the annual WWGB idea too...I've got two builds in mind already for this winter!!!

Hey dupes,

Sadly, I think I am going to have to withdraw from this GB (not that I had really contributed too much up to this point).  There is just no chance that I can get the SdKfz 222 done by May 1.  I have a couple other things I am trying to finish up, and I need to clear the decks for action if I am going to participate in your 251 GB and SMJ's Urban Combat.  So, I'll still pop in and see how the progress with everyone elses builds is, and I will probably still apply SMJ's winterizing technique to the 222 when I build it (which will be soon, but like I said, probably not be the 1st of May).  If, by some chance, I do manage to get it all thrown together by the deadline, I'll 'rejoin', but I am skeptical.

Darn, I really like that badge, too... Sigh [sigh]

SMJ,

Yeah I printed off your thread on the winter camo - I've read through it a bunch but once I get to the application stage I may have a question or two.  If I have not said it already - thanks for that toot, it's a sweet piece of work.

Hey Boyd - sorry to hear about your withdrawal, maybe we'll get you next time (apparently this is going to be an annual build...Big Smile [:D]).

SMJ - thanks for taking care of the house while I'm gone. Wink [;)] Still not back, travel day tomorrow, then Monday back to work and my pc. Sadly, it's pouring here right now so the 8th round of golf got cancelled...I did win the tournament, though! Party [party]

Keep 'em coming, boys. Talk to you on Monday!

Man there's some fine builds coming out of here guy's! Sorry I haven't posted in a while, moved to a new place and ended up fighting with the folks over the internet connections. Then just when it looked as if it was fixed, they had to come back and fix 'em the right way Banged Head [banghead]Grumpy [|(].

Fantastic work everyone.

Interesting dearth of posts here lately...everyone must be building. Wink [;)]

Should have updated (and final!) pics of my Panther this weekend, I've been in some sort of modeling funk that I need to snap myself out of. Not sure what caused it, but I've had a hard time making myself sit down at the bench. Our current "extended" winter may be part of the cause (it's snowing here right now...AGAIN). Just need to attach all the tools and do final weathering on the beast.

THEN it's on to my Stuka! We've got only 5 weekends left to finish builds - 33 days as of today - so I need to get my butt in gear. So for all of us looking to claim badges, it's time to focus and motivate before the build ends!

Speaking of my Stuka, got a question for Lufty - did you have any reference pics you used for yours that you might be able to put up?

That's it for now team. Keep the good work coming! Bow [bow]
