I finally got some pictures of my Lindbergh Line 777. I only have time on the weekends to work on it. Right now I have it in primer. I still have to fill and sand, which will be this weekend. I have one of the main gear nearly done, or at least close to ready for paint. The lines are a random assortment of wire I found laying around.

Jon;

Those landing gear additions look excellent. Is the Lindberg 777 the same as the Minicraft?  The look almost the same. What airline are you going to do?

Thanks for the comments...Big Smile [:D]

Niel- The kit is the Minicraft in 1/144. I am using the Lindbergh Line decals, part of their "Flights of Fancy" series. The decals are chrome/metallic looking. They look awesome on the paper, I hope they turn out that well on the plane. I wasn't planning on doing the landing gear detail like I did, but I found a few pictures on www.airliners.net so I couldn't not try it.

Well, I am starting to get a bit of an Aussie feel for my builds, and because I am doing my A380 in the new Qantas livery, I also wanted to do my 747-400 in the Qantas Livery aswell, but now I am actually considering the Ansett Australian instead.. I was going to do the JAL livery, but it isn't really appealing to me now, so it may be the Australian livery and some work to the 747 to make it a 300.. Any suggestions are welcome.. I don't think AA had a 400, but I will check..

I am still looking for a 1/144 A330 if someone has one to sell...

I am happy to report that Ansett Australia did indeed have 747-400's in their fleet. So it is all systems go for my 747-400 build to be changed from the JAL markings to the Ansett Australian markings..

I added the landing gear today(They are not glued in yet just press-fitted)Looks like the extra sinker I epoxied in the nose was effective.

Well, look forward to seeing it.. After looking at yours, and then with the 26th of January being Australia Day, I simply had to do an Australian subject, and did indeed decide to change my 747-400 from the JAL livery to the Ansett Australia scheme..

First I had to do the decals, but I just realized that with the lettering I printed them the wrong way around and so will have to re-do them. I did however get both sides of the tail fin done and love how it has turned out.. I painted the front leading edge of the tail fin chrome silver and then applied the decals later in the day.. I was originally going to just mask everything off and airbrush the tail fin, but happy I did this instead. Alot easier..

And this is how the tail fin turned out.. Very happy!

This is the aircraft I have decided to do...

Ansett was the first airline I flew with, in 1972.

Chris ;

Looks great so far. The decal colors look vibrant!  Love the Cylon Warrior Craft in the background.  I've been watching BSG new series on UHD High Def channel.

Chris, your 747 is loooking good!

Gentlemen, I'm pleased to announce that last night my son brought home a third place trophy from the Pinewood Derby, which was the best performance by anyone in this house so far. It appears that flames make the car go faster.Big Smile [:D]

Hey guys, check this out! I saw this bird today and I was inspired. I'll be doing this one someday...it would be a lot of masking, but it will definitely be unique:

Yeah, I thought the same thing after looking at it.. Whats with the old design tail?.. Oh well, can't wait to see one fully painted and ready to go.. How long is this build for?.. ANd when will Qanta's recieve their first one?.. I really wan't to wait until I see one before I re-do my A380 but it sits there looking at me wanting me to re-do her....

The build runs until December 31. Of course, if Qantas (and decal makers) take their sweet time, we can always launch a 2009 Airliner group build. :-)

Something really cool happened to me today. It's my birthday, and I got the February Squadron flyer. I mentioned to my wife (who handles the finances) that it surely couldn't be a coincidence. She looked up and said "What do you want to get?" So...I ordered airliner models out of the Squadron Savings block on the second page and got six models today, for less than $33 before shipping!

I won't be adding them to the front page (I might not get them all done before the build's over, after all) but here they are, all Minicraft in 1/144:

C-32A VIP transport (757)

Lufthansa 707-420

VIP C-118 (with "Air Force One" style colors)

Northwest 707-351B

American Airlines DC-6B

Braniff "Jellybean" 707-320B Yep, I couldn't resist getting another one. If Squadron keeps selling them for $2.99 apiece, I may just have to do one in every color. :-)

Guys

Great build - I am almost inspired to join with a BOAC 707.

Chris - were you looking for Qantas A380 decals ? Hawkeye Models have a set .

Cheers

Yeah thanks Simon.. I had a look. But that scheme is wrong. The A380 will have the new Kangaroo design and slanted font... I am actually just after the window, door and cockpit, and extra's decal.. The tail fin and the font, I will airbrush myself..

Chris - I could have confirmed that Ansett had 747-400's . My Mate's Dad used to fly them ! We actually flew in the crew seats on a Melbourne-Osaka flight one New Years' Eve, when airlines weren't so security conscious.

Thanks mate, on the last page I posted a picture of the Ansett Australian 747-400 that I will be representing.. I always knew they flew to Singapore, but forgot they also went to Osaka.. There was one that sat at Brisbane airport for the longest time, not sure if it is still there, but its just a shame that the Airline industry is so fickle.. In 2000 they were the airline to the Olympics, and then a year later they are out business? I need to get me one of those Ailine CEO jobs. It seems you don't have know what you are doing to get your $20,000,000 a year salary..

Well,my Ansett 747 in 2000 Sydney Olympic Livery is now complete.The kit was well[-engineered and presented no construction problems.The hardest part was the decals(Which weren"t so tough).I think it came out great and for my first ever airliner build I am quite proud of it!
