Hey all,

I see alot beautiful work posted on this thread, and I'm lovin' it.

Progress has been pretty good for me.  This Accurate Minitures A-36 kit just falls together nicely.  The pit is complete, the fuselage has been closed up, seems have been sanded (very little filler needed), and panel lines have been rescribed.  The last couple of evenings have been very productive.  I hope my good luck holds out.

Chris

Lookin' good, Mike, Andrew, Azgaron!!  Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I think I'll have some decent weather soon so I can do some painting.  It's ready but I don't have an indoor setup, so am at Mother Nature's mercy!   I think I'm going to use rattle can MM buffing metalizer - it looks pretty good on some test pieces.

Keep up the good work!

Ken

Hi everyone I finally got some pics. Ikey your stangs looking nice thanks, but I have already finished mine.Big Smile [:D] It was a Monogram one with the markings for Urban Drew pilot of detroit miss. These Monogram kits go by really fast. Here it is I finished it all the way but the old decals shattered, so I ordered some new ones. 9.00 dollors for a decal sheet kinda expensive but thats alright.Tongue [:P]

Mike,

Your Stang is looking really good so far! Nice work!

About the wood graining, it's a tip I picked up from the WWI biplane building guys. Pretty simple I think. First you start out with a base color like tan. Then you use artist oil colors, for example burnt sienna and paint all over. Next you use an artist brush or any brush with bristles that's a bit harder and start making the wood pattern in the oil color. Whipe of excess color from the brush and continue until your satisfied with looks of it. When the oil color has dried, you can seal it with clear cote, or for wooden props, perhaps clear orange. You can try with other colors to get different tones of wood.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!

Cheers,

Azgaron

Starting to get ready with the interior parts. A few minor touch-ups and then I'm ready to start assembling. Painted the pilot in a Swedish summer suit with white cap and gloves. Took a try at woodgraining the floor too, but it don't show that much in the picture.

Cheers,

Azgaron

Hey Azgaron,

I am really liking what I am seeing especially the floor. How did you represent the wood grain in the floor?

You are off to a good start my friend..!!

Hey Drew,

You are off  to a great start my friend... I know it's early in the game for you but do you know what markings you'll be putting her in?

By the way, which kit is that?

Howdy,

Yes I was able to get to my Stang....Party [party]Propeller [8-]Party [party]Propeller [8-] A little backwards yes but I was able to put the decals on her and I also managed to apply the wash.. However I still have to paint the exghaust, the inner & outter gear doors as well as for the main LG.. LOL

The decals went on w/ out a hitch except as I was applying them, something seemed missing.... AH CRAP-O- LA... I totally forgot to paint the fuselage ID band.. I chickend out and used the decal band from my P-51B....

What was I thinking?!?!?! The Tamiya "B" does not have a tail fillet.. I figured that out once the decal was on...SoapBox [soapbox]

I just took a few steps back and used British Sky Type "S" and did some touching up here n there....

Now getting to the smudge wash.. The actual wash it self I was not really pleased with. My original wash which was on the order of Scale Black was used up. So I used another mix which appeared more on the grayer side..

Now that I look at it, it does not look all that bad.... The true answer will be given when its all done..!!

Hope you all like what I have done thus far... Comments welcomed..!!

 Thanks fer lookin

Flaps up,

Mike

Looks nice painted, Chrisl!

I thought I've lost my IP, and was ready to make a new one, when suddenly after several days, it popped out of the mag where I put the lids and stuff on when painting. So now I can get going again. I glued the IP and the pilot just to be sure, and I'll glue the pit to the fuselage soon too!

Azgaron

Well, I don't have much to show right now for progress.  It's getting ready for some pit primer.  So far, it's just been cutting and trimming, bending and folding.  I've had one really nasty incident with CA Glue.  Most of the mess scraped off.

Glad to see you got your PE so you can start now Chris.

I finished my mustang except for the windows, The old monogram decals broke up into lots of pieces so I will just order Aeromaster's Detriot miss set. I would show PICS but the camera isn't working well. I am taking it apart trying to fix it.

Again, Great work Jason.  Ya gotta love that RAF Camo.

I got my PE stuff yesterday, and I'm diving into my A-36 tonight.  The dive brakes are molded into the wings, but I'd rather show them wide open.  It's going to take some slow work with a sharp knife to get the dive brakes open.
