Yup, I'm just gonna finish up my bright n shiny 1/25 Jagdpanther. Justs needs some heavy weathering, and it's done.
Here's a pic of the glistening JP:

That'll take me forever, though, and it's a big model, so I expect many of you who haven't even started your builds will still finish long before me!

Chris, I've got a set of Tamiya grills, and I might have a barrel (but I'll have to check on that) if you have any problems getting what you need. No, it was not me that bought the stuff before you, I've had these for a while!! Big Smile [:D] You're doing the Tamiya G right? E-mail me if you need anything and we can meet up if you want.

some panthers with nightvision were in the Battle of the Bulge and some more took out some Comet Tanks later on in the war

Thanks for the info Kenneth. Thanks also Jon for backing me up so to speak. Just 5 more days.

Nice job Brian. That's a very nice paint job. Where Jagdpanthers ever painted in ambush scheme? Never seen one to my knowledge.

Thanks, T-man.
I can't recall seeing ambush on a JP either. Nor can I recall ever seeing one in the camo I did! I just did it based on those kinda diagonal-striped camo patterns I've seen, and I chose the olive, dark yellow, and panzer gray based on some text I read about the possibility of that combo late in the war. Plus I thought it'd be an interesting combo! And when you're dealing with the old Tamiya 1/25 JP, accuracy really isn't the point. The point is FUN!Big Smile [:D]

I don't think it would be unreasonable to assume that JPs got painted in the ambush scheme.
There was alot of variation from specified schemes on all sides during the war.

Nice JP Brian, I like that camo scheme.
What did you use on the muzzle and exhaust?

Thank ya, Sir!
Nothing special on the muzzle brake or exhausts. Just some straight Tamiya XF-1 Flat Black dusted with the AB on the muzzle brake, and a straight brushing of darkened XF-56 Metallic Gray on the exhausts. I use the Metallic Gray for everything metal (machinegun barrels, tools, cables, trax), in varying shades.

As I mentioned, there's been no weathering at all done yet, so I'll rust up the exhausts a bit and give the rest of the vehicle a dusty, mildly dirty look, heavy on dried rain-streak type weathering, to depict a fairly new, undamaged vehicle that's just been sitting outside for a while.

Help!!

Now that i have decided to join inwith this build i cant make up my mind what to do Banged Head [banghead]

I have a Tamiya Jagdpanther late and i was going to do it OOB BUT!!! now im not sure Dead [xx(] Eduard PE? Barrel? Track? Im just too temptedEvil [}:)]

So what do you guys think....OOB or not? need to make my mind up if im going to get the parts for a 1st Dec start!!

Lastly: I remember seeing a pic of a Panther in Berlin in 45 with what looked a bit like an urban pattern camo ( i think it was Green base with white blocks) Has anyone else seen a camo like this? I belive the gremans were playing with urban camos in the last months of the war. if so do you have any links?

Just felt like having a bit of fun and doing an urban pattern camo on the JagdpantherBig Smile [:D]

Box1, you might as well go all out. I would definately get new tracks and some rear deck grilles. Barrel? 50/50 on those. Of course it's totally up to you on how much time and money you want to invest.

Not familiar with the camo job, but if anyone has photos or drawings, I wouldn't mind a peek.

OOB is 'quick and dirty.'........but modified is 'leisurly and Filthy (or sick, mad or any of those adjectives my kids use these days)'.

It's gonna be a long build, so why not make the best of it? Okay, PE modified can cost twice as much (or much more with Fruil tracks) as the original kit, but it takes twice as long to build this way. Technically, you'd buy and start another kit when the first was finished anyway - so the end result is same cost over the same period (Logic was not my strongest subject, but this excuse works for me)Tongue [:P]

Big Smile [:D] Hello again, Big Smile [:D]

Just a question, I know I said I was going to do a panther g early, tamiya straight from the box, But after some surfin and reading I have a question to ask, since I am knew might as well say to modeling, since I havent built a model in several years, not counting some warhammer 40K models. I was wondering if the Eduard barrel, and the photo etched set would be a little too much for me.. whew... but they look awfully good Tongue [:P]

Sorry about the Dorgan name, earlier on a post or two, is my name from another forum.

Tim, I'm doing the same one and I have never tried any aftermarket stuff out before either, but I have the eduard barrel and pe grills coming for this one. Kit already had pe zim.Got to try the new areas out sometime and a group build is the best time to do it since you'll have others doing the same thing. I say go for it and try it. This place is great for trying out new tecniques cause you can always pop a question up if you have a problem.

HI Tim

i have only just started again after a 20yrs[:0]

My first kit wa the Tamiya Panther G late and i was also tempted by all the after market stuff out there! in the end i went for the Aber PE Grill set and side skirts which i was very Angry [:(!] to find didnt include the fenders + hangers so i ended up getting the Aber fender set. PE makes such a diference it got to be worth it. Then i didnt use the skirts as i dont want to cover the tracks up, more bit for the spares box Sigh [sigh]

I now have six more kits and five of them haveWhistling [:-^] got PE sets. The Eduard sets look a little easier than the Aber ones ( there were some tiny tiny tiny bits in the Panther set i couldnt work out what they were!!) and i havent found them too hard yet! I have now got an Etchmate as i have a full Aber detail set that im going to need it for! im not ging use a steel rules and tweesers againDead [xx(]

The only thing to be carfull of is once you start with PE there is no going backBig Smile [:D]

so thats myMy 2 cents [2c]. If you read back on this thread you will see i had the same dilema, now i have ordered the Eduard barrel and Detail set!!

I am thinking of leaving off the side skirts to Dave. PIcs I have seen of some without them look better than the one on the box that has them.
