Derek,
sounds good, but it might be weeks before i have anything else to send!
Big Smile [:D]

PantherLehr,
thanks for the barrel pix, now i know what i am waiting for!
could they have different barrels for different mantles ?
(or is that mantlet? my armor jargon is still not up to par) Dunce [D)]
maybe they need different ends to mate up w/ the different kit pieces.

edit -- not sure if Captain Caveman and i were replying at the same time,
or if i had low reading comprehension! sorry.

Chris, I think I'm starting to sound like a mother. Sad [:(] Get those grilles! You'll be glad ya did, especially since your not buying aftermarket tracks.

Just a week away! Good for you Chris on going for the grilles. Remember most places take checks. Greatmodels has a pretty quick turn around with them.

Wild William and co. In regard to the Mantlet questions, there were different mantlets for the G Version. The type with the vertical extension (refer pic a few pages back) was introduced to overcome the tendancy of the curved mantlet from becoming a 'Shot Trap' that deflected rounds down to the top of the hull or into the turet ring area. The basic layout of where the gun came out was not changed though.

The reason that there are diferrent barrels for diferent kit manufacturers is simply because of the way they have moulded the kit pieces. Dragon has drilled a deep hole in their mantlet, therefore the end of the replacement barrel for their kit needs to be longer to fit. Tamiya on the other hand needs to be much shorter.

Hello everyone,

Im pretty new you might say to the hobby, with that would you guys mind If I got into the group build with everyone, will build a German Panther G, Early version straight from the box. Be my first armor, would be my second model but working on a 71 Plymouth GTX to get the feel of modeling again.

Thanks

Everyone that wants one will have a page.
I can easily add more people than whats there now, those are the names I had so far.

Questions, comments, etc welcome.

Hi, I'm definitely in too. I am kind of dumb about this stuff, but I clicked on that link and didn't see anything related to a Panther group buildup. Where should I click? Thanks.

I am not touching my stuff until December 1! Not even removing stuff from sprues! Should be fun to see how far I get by Feb 1. [:0]

Larry,
if you click the 'web' icon at the bottom of claymore's messages,
it should take you to a page w/ a grid of names on the bottom.
once fols get started on the builds and send stuff to Derek,
he will load their content and link it to their name on the grid.
i think mine is the only working one, as we were testing the process over the weekend.

edit - Sorry! PantherLehr's links to his modeling page, where he has his excellent indy tracks and kit pictures.
i have not started building yet, just showing the stuff i have gotten for the build so far,
so folks could see what the Tamiya indy links & PE zim look like.

First, I'm sorry, I called you Chris before. Been kind of brain dead these last few weeks. This cold I've got is a real mess!.

I picked up the Shanghai kit (got the last one of the 14 they got in!), and it looks pretty cool. Especially the 3 deep set of IR gear!!! Yep, that's right 3 full sets molded in clear plastic. I haven't looked too deeply into the kit yet, but my quick "review" of it looks good. The tracks are indy links (of course), but as far as I could see, there is only one tiny ejector pin mark on each link. Unfortunately, it's right between the cleats on the front of the link. I don't know how that will look when painted, but they're in a very bad place if they need to be cleaned up. I think I'm going to buy stock in some company that makes rear deck grilles for these things. I'm needing way too many!! lol.

I saw that a Chinese (I think...maybe it's Japanese) company called Gum Ka has some awful nice looking sets of pe for the Dragon A and D. I don't know of any US destributors. Does anybody??

See y'all later.

Ok, thanks. I was clicking on that url that you had on the bottom.

I'm blocked to that geocities page because it is web hosting -- my company doesn't allow us to view web hosting pages. Sad [:(]

Oh well. Will have to look on the weekends .... I will send my photos and stuff though where instructed!

That's o.k. Robert,.... I mean Bill. Clown [:o)] There are alot of Chris', Erics and Robs or Roberts on this site. LOL Sounds like a neat kit, but rather difficult to find. The price sure sounds good. If you go aftermarket tracks, they will cost more than the kit! Are you still building Tamiya's A?

Yep, Eric. I still think I'll stick with the Tamiya A. I've just got too much in it. Not that it's going anywhere. I just wish I had a way to get some pics out. I may have to do what I saw someone on here say and that's get them put on cd at a photo shop and do it that way.

Have a good one;

Hi Bill. I'm looking into a digi-camera for an early Christmas present. They're so cheap (so to speak). For what we are doing, you wouldn't need anything fancy, but I do want to get something for everyday photos as well. Of course, I have to build some quality product in order to post my pictures here. Too many fine builds! Then I have to figure out how to post. Confused [%-)]

Eric,

I'm right there with you, buddy!

I was looking at a really low end at Wal-Mart ($20), but it only has 100 K pixels. We don't need a lot of resolution for this stuff, but I,m not sure you'd even be able to make out the tank with that low!! lol

Good luck;

100k pixels .... you will be very lucky if you can tell there's even a tank in the picture Bill.

Yep, I'm almost tempted to try it just to see how bad it is!! lol

Kind of like reading a review on a kit saying how bad it is and wanting to build it yourself just to prove that it can't really be that bad!! (Masachasim is well known to me!!) lol

I had to look at the specs two or three times to make sure I wasn't reading it wrong!
